Just wondering where in the SGGSJ it says that we can not distribute karah prashad whilst wearing disposable gloves for hygiene reasons?

If hygiene was an issue, then Gurusahiban would have started the Maryada of distributing Degh with a spoon or kadshi. Please don't insult Satgurus intelligence, by considering our matt to be superior than theirs. If somebody does have a medical condition, then refrain from Degh seva.

If you want disposable gloves, then why can't others have their own matt Maryada too....

the hands are washed before giving karah Prasad, that is hygienic so shouldn't be a need for gloves

I work in food industry and I know lot about food safety and all but I strongly disagree with gloves and degh sewa. No gloves or pls pick another sewa. Sewa like loo room cleaning requires gloves, so that is good reason for using gloves.

I will like to add here: That the Rehat maryada does dictate that the Deg should be distributed with hands but the hands should be free of any jewellery such as rings. Kara does not come tight around your wrist and is cleaned;however rings do not and are considered as unhygenic.

What I do notice is that there are ppl who carry on distributing deg with their rings on. Perhaps the Committee should set up the rules for Deg to be distributed with hands free of any rings etc.

I fail to see the need to wear gloves when distributing degh. Is this some kind of "health and safety" rubbish that's plaguing Britain?

If the hands are washed properly, there is no problem.

I also see more and more Gurdwaras distributing tissues with or after karah prashad. Why's it suddenly become so popular?
