It's

Veer mohkam singh

Mukti Nama, 10th Patshahi states that: a Gursikh cannot marry into father's and mother's surname; if we drop our surnames, how can we tell, whether our potential partner, is blood related or not?

Our ancestors fought bravely, to maintain their identity, what right do we have to call them low?

None of the Gurus , starting with Guru Nanak Dev ji used last name - and also none of our shaheeds / great gursikhs - baba budha, bhai satidas , bhai matidas , baba bidhichand etc, and after amrit sanchaar - bohta singh, garja singh, mehtab singh, sukha singh etc - you get my point. Even in recent times people who took up arms against Indian tyranny didnt use castist names ....

So what right do we have to use caste based last names ?

Mehtab singh ji - thanks for the suggestion , added lines pertaining to fidelity

Singhbj singh - corrected - thanks for the suggestion

Can we make this is a sticky and encourage others to post more tuks ?

10th Patshahi uses the word "got" ( surname), in Mukti Nama. When Guru Ji tells us, not to marry into our mothers & fathers surname, then it is clear that Maharaj acknowledges the importance of surname.

Gurbani refers to Guru Sahiban as: Bhalla Amardas, Bedi, and Sodhi; are these not surnames?

Waheguru.....
