Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh

I would like to take Amrit, maybe not just yet but I really want to, my wife does is not into the idea. We are both into Sikhi, as is my wife, we do Parth go Gurdwara but she does says she doesnt want to take that extra step. Guru Kirpa that we both take it. But if she doesn't, will I still be able to?

It's no good trying to justify the different maryadas.

The akaal takht is the official umbrella over all sikhs and their conduct.

The ddt, akj..etc. have differing maryadas going into more detail for their own jathabandhis and this is within their own circles.

They don't impose these on everyone yet akal takht maryada is for every sikh.

What one should do is first look at akal takht maryada and if that doesn't answer your question, then go check if you are under a jathebandi depending on where and which panj pyaras do amrit.
