URGENT!!!!

New Khalsa Academy Slough needs YOU!

Early indications show that there are more 'No' votes from local community opposed to the school than there are 'Yes' votes from the Sikh community. Locals are opposed because of the congestion problems. For the Sikhs this will be an invaluable institution that could give the next generation of Sikhs a solid foundation in their Sikhi in order to strive forth in the wider world with Sikhi core values in their hearts and minds.

If the Sikh community are denied this school then it will be a great loss! We will only have ourselves to blame for missing this unique opportunity.

Please please can you forward or inform as many friends and family about the importance of filling in the online form.

Fill in online form or the locals will block planning permission on new school.

http://www.khalsasecondaryschool.com/consultation-form.html

Please forward.

Thank you.

CONSULTATION CLOSES THIS FRIDAY

We all whinge when we access to good institutions and having problems growing up in schools where Sikhs are a minority. Then when a chance to change it comes along, we do nothing.

How are you going to get anything done if you cant even fill in a form?

Sangat ji, please be aware of the full facts here. NOT ONE of the local residents is opposing the right of the Sikh community to open a free school, if it is the right thing for the local Sangat then Waheguru will make it happen. The main objection here is that an 840-place school is being imposed in a rural village of 5000, but none of the villagers or local schools were consulted, and none of the local school children have been offered places because they DID NOT KNOW of the proposal. Education is a fundamental right, and every parent has the right to choose the most appropriate option for their own child, and if that is a faith school then excellent, if that is not a faith school then that is excellent too. If education were truly that important to the Trustees, they would have put their collective energy into pursuing other sites within the area which they aim to serve, rather than this one. The KSA are marketing on the basis of 50% of places being reserved for children of other faiths or no faith, yet have done nothing at all to engage potential students from anywhere other than the Sikh brotherhood. Does that sound like true Sikhi to you? There are many more details behind this, please don't knee-<banned word filter activated> respond without familiarising yourselves with the whole truth, there is more information available on the Stoke Poges Parish Council website.

Avtar Singh

Village resident.

The vast majority of Sikhs in West London, East Berks and Buckinghamshire are behind the school. Opposition is the typical nimbyism felt by villagers with a mob mentality.

If they dont get it they will just go somewhere else. No big deal.

But were Sikhs dont go, someone else does, and the hope the residents of Stoke Poges will enjoy that rather than Sikhs. ;)
