Sikh women wearing clothing in the Gudwara

I recently have been to a wedding at a Gudwara and was amazed to see so many Sikh women wearing the wrong type of clothing inside the Gudwara.

I saw many women wearing low cut tops, sleeveless suits, sarees suits, low cut suits on the back, tight trouser suits and also when sitting in front of the Gurugranth Sahib their heads were not covered or half covered.

I very much thought this to be extremely derogatory and a huge lack of respect to our Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Its not a fashion show to go to the gurdwara!! I wanted to know what are the sangats views on this and what can be better done to put sense into these people who do these things. Is this the modern Sikhi???

It's not a fashion show but it is a wedding. People wear the same clothes through the day including the party hence they all seem to wear the most fashionable clothes (when else would you wear them?).

The clothes tend not to bother me so much as the chunni that goes over the back of the hair rather than covering the head.

Respect for Guru Ji comes from within so unless they have love and respect for Guru Ji the thoughts about their appearance aren't addressed. These are also most likely people not to bother coming to the Gurdwara other than when they have to. Yet when I went to a wedding recently, the nonSikhs had done a better job of covering their head. Shameful.

Perhaps had the start, once everyone's assembled but before anything happens, one of the Giani Jis should make the announcement of ensuring people cover their head.

Exactly H!! If these girls don't know how to dress or behave in a gurdwara then they shouldn't go. Try to behave as per the rules before going in. We are so quick to pounce on some Mona or a Gora who accidentally forgets to cover their head when going to do Matha tek but get scared or shy away when we have to tell the girls who have come for the wedding to dress properly and cover up. They were wearing these

I recently went to to a wedding and saw a group of girls who obviously never come to a gurdwara. Didn't know how to sit, legs spread everywhere!!! That was bad. Churriyan waliyan pants that were too tight for their legs and worse of all wearing half cut tops bearing almost all. That was not good. All I could say was 'Waheguru help teach these girls how to behave in a gurdwara'.

These girls need a good slap If they dress like that before comin to the gurdwara!!

I personally believe if you do not wear bana to guru ji's darbar then you should not go at all. I think guru ji will get angry with anyone who is not wearing bana in the same way he would if someone is wearing low cut tops, sleeveless suits, sarees suits, low cut suits on the back etc.
