Buddhism and sikhi are similar? Guru Gobind ji says that Buddha was an avtar of Vishnu. However, Sikhi is the most recent set of teachings of Sat and other teachings of dharma have been corrupted over time, unless u use your intuition and listen to your inner Guru properly, many people have fallen for the untruthful clearly seen in teachings of Islam eg.

The core of Sikh and Buddhism isn't dissimilar. Sat is Sat.

What is the core of both and provide links or references to where you are obtaining the information.

I am 16 and due to my good karams i was born into a good religion and enlightened family. My family is all Amaritdhari and I follow there path but I have been looking online and i find buddhism as my type of way of life.

I like the fact the don't worship god because if there is a god why so much hate and pain in the world, why so many kids suffering in Africa Believing in a god creates so many questions for me so it leaves me confused. I don't know which is the way to go. Although i like Buddhism very much i dont want to disappoint my parents who have full faith in sikhi.

The enlightened may see no such difference and much is in parallel.

Different times and places need different gurus.

Glad to say both lead back to to original source though words may have difference.

Learn from both, go back to the ONE.

You will be free, no need to be confused - be at peace, fortunate one.

I was borned and raised an atheist, but  kept an open mind. I studied all religions including the Abrahamic ones. I also considered Buddhism but didn't really get how karma and rebirth could occur on it's own. I happened to learn about Sikhi by accident due to my love of learning from religion debate videos. I can't imagine u were lucky enough to be born into such a rich culture and tradition and wish to cast it away.

Guest Michael - Olympia,WA

Hello, I am a white-American Sikh and I would like to state that the Creator is all alone and the Buddhist do not understand that in death there is a unity of sorts that is painful to such an extent that life is the only thing that can alleviate this pain for the Godhead and Sikhs get to enjoy the understanding that community alleviates this pain that arises from the oneness being alone. In my opinion Life is much much less painful than Death and it is only the illusion of the opposite that makes life that much more beautiful.

I love the creator and I love the creation and I thank the creator for sending Nanak as a Guru for the world to follow in his devotion to the creator and to appreciating fully the creation. I spend my life in Olympia, WA USA and I thoroughly enjoy my friends and the life I am living thanks to the creator. Stop by Olympia and say hello sometime! I can be found anywhere, just ask for Michael and I'll pop-up eventually!

I was super interested in Buddhism at age 16-18 as well. Thought it was so peaceful and nice... which it is. But i was putting more leverage into it because I didn't have knowledge of my own Sikh faith.

I never understood a lot of the things e.g. we don't idol worship etc so why do we bow to a "book"? Forgive me but at that time I did not realise that Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was the living Jot of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji... Not until I experienced it did I come to realise it. Day by day I grew closer to Sikh and found it was everything I needed. All my questions answered. Why did we have to keep our hair? Wear 5 K's? Do nitnem? I also had the wrong impression of Guru Gobind Singh Ji liking war and stuff but then I heard a katha by some pehnji on youtube about the "true personality of Guru Gobind Singh Ji". That was a really special day for me, my life turned since then. SO much learning ever since.

Lemme say one thing. Jesus came, Jesus left. Buddha came, Budda left. Prophet Mohammed came, Prophet Mohammed left. Guru Nanak Dev Ji came, Guru Nanak Dev Ji is still with us. To this very day. We are so lucky.

don't miss out hehe.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
