Meditation Techniques

Your posts are usually too complex for <banned word filter activated> me>>>>but i think here you saying that the jot be in all of us so we dont need to do much except witness it>>is that right??

Sorry mate>>I don't get that at all cuz I'm trying to FIND this Jot.?>>>cuz ive undastood thaat we have to find our own jot and waheguru in us first cuz it is covered and hidden by our minds filth.

Then>> only after we have found it>>can we go ahead and try to merge it >>joti jot milaai.

You knoww the drop in ocean>>>so the drop is our OWN inner light jot>>>and oviously god and all other jots are the ONE ocean!

No\t saying you wrong n30 dude>>>but you confusing the dopeys like me who understand the jot in jot>>atmaa in paramaatma>>drop in ocean>>SIMPLE

BUT WE GOTTA FIND THAT JOT BY HAMMERING THE FILTH COVERIN TH MIND BY USING NAAM SIMRAM

>>>>dONT KNOW ABOUT YOU>>BUT I CAN'T JUST SIT AND WITNESS BUT I'VE GOT TO MAKE A DAM EFFORT WITH THIS and I'M WORKIN ON IT HARD BRO>>>

Sorry bro, didn't meant to confuse.

Yes witness is just one intial lower state, intially you start with witnessing then moving to as singh598 said hold on to thinker or seer- which is beyond the thoughts, consciouness (surti) is pure unconditioned awareness- jot awakened light- (jot- knowledge).

Start with descontruction process with bibek- what am i? What is sabstratrum essence of everything? Look beyond and see beyond thoughts and mind or even I consiciouness-being- what you see? you will feel sense of pure awareness knowledge thats is jagad jot-awareness light in all of us - thats what sri guru gobind singh ji is referreing to. It cannot be conceptually described but felt, abided in, lived through - thats all i can say. Everything will revealved to you beyond that by hakum unfolding, via divine insights etc.

cuz ive undastood thaat we have to find our own jot and waheguru in us first cuz it is covered and hidden by our minds filth.//

Thats correct

And the beauty of naam simran, there are no technicalities of it- its not vidhi or naam dridh, so anyone can do it as there are no complexities as its remembrance you just honesty, earnestness, absolute desire for truth-naam and slowly truth will throb on you too unexpectedly by absolute truth-Ikongkar. We think as if ikongkar (truth) is dead and relative but truth is alive- HERE AND NOW, this absolute truth- bhramgyan is one in all, all in one- every much happening all the time here and now. #SORRY BRO,

Naam Simran(remembrance) probably more important than any vidhi, One needs bairaag to end suffering, absolute love desire for truth knowing yourself- (our jot saroop) has to be deep rooted before one can try different techniques -naam vidhi otherwise one can easily caught in divine expereinces, divine insights etc. Thats the very first thing one needs to do and one develop bariaag that by reading gurbani, listening to it, following it, applying it, understanding it, talking to guru via shabad, taking hakumnamas following through it etc.

Simran is defined as to remember Vaheguru in Gurbani. Take a second and think about what Vaheguru is in your mind at this moment? Does a certain Shabad come to mind or is your mind trying to construct through it's own ability a form of Vaheguru, which your ego can accept and understand? If today I was to walk up to a seeker and tell him Vaheguru means a woman wearing a red suit, who is sitting on top of a mountain and eating nuts. Will this person be doing simran of Vaheguru? No! The seeker would be doing simran of a woman sitting on top of a mountain, dressed in a red suit, and eating nuts. When repeating Vaheguru for minutes or hours or days, what is the mind thinking of? Take for example the incident of almost getting into an accident. The common Sikh says Vaheguru in that moment out loud or in their mind. However what is he really thinking about as he says Vaheguru? In that moment the person is saying Vaheguru is my protector. Vaheguru protected me from getting into an accident. The person is remembering a quality of Vaheguru and is focused on this quality of Vaheguru for however long the person feels helpless in that moment. Is this not simran of Vaheguru? If it was, what technique did the person use? Did he have his eyes closed, legs crossed, hands in a certain position? I surely hope his eyes were open, feet close by the brake and race pedal, and his hands on the steering wheel. If not, we know why the accident would have been caused.

you just talkin the same old missionaarry rubbish that just argue about abiasees being parrots>>get outa here>>>

thought u was some holy clever clog know it all>>>but you just a M.I.D>>Missionyr In Disguise>>aka only 5 #

tell me what JAP and Nam JAP means ???

have you ever jap naam???>>>>>>>>>if so>>HOW??

Gurbani is the Naam. When reading or singing Gurbani we are able to connect to the divine, if we are focused on the Shabad. When repeating Vaheguru, your mind should be focused on the pure shabad.

We remember (do simran of) Vaheguru when we read Gurbani. If we do not remember Vaheguru through Gurbani we are lost in our ego. Gurbani tells us how to remember Vaheguru and exactly what Vaheguru is. Without this, we are lost and thinking something he is not. And you can do all the Vaheguru simran you want but your mind will not receive the peace of mind.

You Dont understand that the MIND is supposed to be japping In first place>>

Meditation in Sikhi is the next step to remembering Vaheguru; contemplation. The contemplation brings the mind to focus on what Gurbani is saying to you. Meditation on Vaheguru simran is also happening as your focus on the deep meaning of the word Vaheguru and bring your mind to provide the answers through the Shabad Guru.

even a dopey dufus like me know that MEDITATION IS NOT CONTEMPLATION>>>

MISSionaries say this same rubbish on spn forum

The purpose of closing the eyes and sitting in a quiet room is to help the person quiet the world around him and he really can focus on the Naam. We use a similar technique, when starting to learn about a topic and there is a test coming up for it in a couple of days. However those, who are well learned about the topic, do not need to quiet the world around them through sitting in quiet rooms and closing their eyes to focus. Try it right now. Pick a topic you really know about and go into a very noisy place. While in the noise, start thinking about the topic you are well versed in. You will have no problem contemplating over the topic and going into the deep subjects it covers.

In a similar manner we want to do this with Gurbani; become the lotus flower while maya is all around you. You can waste your time with breathing techniques, posture techniques, mudras, etc., but in this case we don't know when the exam time will end. By then it will be too late to ask for another test section.

What missioanry crap u yappin bout here??...>>

I aint no doc>>but i know dam well that training your BRAIN is Not same as MIND

BRAIN is NOT your MIND>>>or is that anotha thing missionaries rant about??

You sayin that LEARN topic>>then u can CONTEMPLATe>> then u be well versed and on gurus path??

you just sayin that to be HOLY you have to be educated like those dam hindu brahmins.

people not smart enuff or even ones that may not read but can at least jap and do simran are not invited>

You always be quoting bhagat dhana story for years>>>.so tell me smartie pants>> was bhagat well versed and contemplating Texts???

doesn't gurbani say something like even a donkey brain can become mukht by just japping GUNAs of GOD without knowing theory knowlege

Meditation by Sant Baba Mani Singh Ji

People try to tell us their ways of meditation but the real way is when you see the need that you want to become One.
It is like when you separate two people, they want to become one. Day night they think about each other and want to see each other.

In the same way we must have it in us that we want to meditate. There isnt any special practise. Some say you must meditate with the breath, taking it high and then getting the word out and others say you must sit there quietly and some say dont say anything.

But the real meditation is the feeling that it is necessary for me to become One with Him. When this desire arises, then you yourself will create a way of meditation.

- Bachan of Sant Mani Singh Ji, 1996

    • it's my fault, i should have phrased things a bit better. Basically based on the data he gathered same sex couples are more likely to settle into a routine and are less likely to do things out of said routine (such as cheating, which according to the data he gathered was surprisingly low compared to straight couples). By similar attributes I mean people like them in terms of personality and taste. In straight couples you can usually note a sort of polarity in the way they behave and their personalities.  Again this is based on one study, nothing official or on a large scale really.

    • 5 Cancer Fighting Foods Backed By Scientific Research by Anthony Gucciardi When we talk about the idea of taking back control in your life, it is absolutely essential that we talk about one of life's most important fundamentals: your health. The truth is, you most certainly can eat your way to optimum health – and it can actually be a very enjoyable (and delicious) experience. Here's 5 cancer fighting foods that are backed by scientific research to start adding into your daily optimum health routine: 1. Tea Enjoying a cup of tea is anything but a chore, and the reality is that plant-based teas can offer some very significant anti-cancer properties. Tea contains a family of natural compounds known as flavonoids, which are the phytonutrients responsible for the beautiful colors we see in fruits and vegetables. But in addition to playing a role in the vivid colorization of produce, flavonoids are also known for their powerful antioxidant effects. In particular, a flavonoid in tea called kaempferol has been pegged to help in the fight against cancer. According to an expansive Harvard University study that studied more than 66,000 women, participants who consumed more kaempferol were found to have the lowest rates of ovarian cancer. 2. Brussels Sprouts Brussels sprouts are the new kale, with various brussels-based recipes and preparation ideas popping up on social media almost daily. This happens to be a very beneficial trend, as eating brussels sprouts and other cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, broccoli, kale, cauliflower) can be an excellent choice in the fight against cancer and your journey towards optimum health. What's interesting about the research here is that scientists were able to identify some inspiring protective properties against both prostate and colon cancers with the consumption of cruciferous vegetables, but the substances required to produce the results may only be released during the cutting or chewing of the vegetables. One study, as reported by WebMD, found that: “In mice grafted with human prostate tumors and then treated with one of these cancer-killing substances, tumors began to shrink to half their size after 31 days.“ The promising results may have to do with the enzyme phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC), which is found naturally in cruciferous vegetables. Other studies have examined the antioxidant called sulforaphane, which is also released when you chew up cruciferous vegetables. 3. Turmeric If you haven't already started spicing up your meals with turmeric, now is the time to start. As a member of the ginger family, the turmeric plant has been used in both Indian cuisine and ancient schools of medicine for thousands of years. Now, quite some time later, researchers and nutritionists are finally getting excited about what turmeric can do. One such study that gained recent notoriety in the news cycle focused on the anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin (turmeric's active ingredient) on the body. Published in the Journal of Clinical & Cellular Immunology, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston found that curcumin exhibited anti-inflammatory capabilities that could help in the fight against cancer and most other disease. "Most diseases are caused by chronic inflammation that persists over long periods of time," wrote biochemist Bharat B. Aggarwal, PhD, from The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. 4. Black Raspberries Yet another great tasting option, berries have been shown to help in the fight against one of America's most deadly conditions. In particular, black raspberries may be the best bet. It has been found that black raspberries contain a significant amount of phytochemicals known as anthocyanins, which could help to halt or slow the development of premalignant cells. One professor of internal medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine has even authored a book titled “Berries and Cancer Prevention” which details all of the ways in which berries wage war against cancer growth. 5. Vitamin D Not a 'food' per se, but vitamin D is such a uniquely important anti-cancer agent that it is a must-have in your arsenal against cancer. The research here is pretty clear, and even the National Cancer Institute has a lengthy page dedicated to vitamin D and its effects. In research surrounding cancer cells and tumors in mice, vitamin D was discovered to potentially slow or prevent the onset of cancer, inhibit cancer cell growth, reduce tumor vessel formation, and more. Addition pieces of literature focused on the association between vitamin D levels and death rates for some cancers. Participants living in areas with a higher amount of sunlight exposure were found to have lower rates of these cancers, which researchers stated could be due to the difference in vitamin D levels. Taking control of your health is more than just important, it's essential to living the life that you deserve to create for yourself. Adding these foods and others into your daily routine can be a step in the right direction towards securing your optimum state of health.
