Which Shabad To Do 125000 Times ?

Recommended Posts

The path of sikhee, is a path of devotion, of love, of surrender of our wicked minds to the Beloved.

We can not take it as a business deal, like I give this so much to have that in return... That is not the right attitude.

When one loves someone, there are no calculations or speculations, it is just giving oneself selflessly to the beloved.

So should be our love for Wahiguru, at all times, at all places .... When He has given us so much without restrictions, why to limit Him with numbers and times?

The following are some words full of wisdom from the Bani, guiding us for if we want to play the game of love with Him:

jau qau pRym Kylx kw cwau ] (1412-2)
ja-o ta-o paraym khaylan kaa chaa-o.
If you desire to play this game of love with Me,

isru Dir qlI glI myrI Awau ] (1412-2)
sir Dhar talee galee mayree aa-o.
then step onto My Path with your head in hand.

iequ mwrig pYru DrIjY ] (1412-3)
it maarag pair Dhareejai.
When you place your feet on this Path,

isru dIjY kwix n kIjY ]20] (1412-3)
sir deejai kaan na keejai. ||20||
give Me your head, and do not pay any attention to public opinion

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਤੀ ਗਣਤ ਜਿ ਰਖੈ ਹਲਤੁ ਪਲਤੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਗਇਆ

One who enters into a calculated relationship with the True Guru loses everything, this world and the next

Not all about the counting, we all need to ready gurbani and take the message deep inside of us which is the hard part! I've tried counting and you end of just focusing on the number rather than the bani and i dont know about any of you guys but it increased my hankaar meter to the red zone if though i hadnt done much path! Its good to have targets but the aim should be to exceed these everyday day and not just stop at them!

Going slighlty of topic - a singh once told me its easy to sit in a kirtan programme for hours or read a lot of gurbani when the mind is yearing guru shabad, however guru's counter starts when you dont want to sit in kirtan and dont want to do path. That's when we have to battle our mind and force ourselves to do it!

Preet, R78, you have to learn to crawl before you can walk. Nevertheless, what you both imply is what we should aim for.

People drowning in Maya, such as myself, are given techniques, frameworks from Saadhoo Sant that give us something to work towards. 125,000 jaaps / 40 day routines / 11 day routines are all there to help you achieve the next step.

I want to start to do jaap of gurbani shabads 125000 times each. I am looking for gurbani shabads that have been recited by great sikh saints

Thanks

Brother,

if we must do any jaap. whether 125000 times, or whether 125000 x 125000, or whether infinite times; why not faithfully follow Guru Jee´s teachings, the highest and infinite fountain of gyan tat budh.

They say: Jan Nanak kou Guru ehe mat dheenee, Jap man SATNAM, sadaa SATNAM, nit dhiaeeyeh Purakh Niranjana.

At other place, they say:  Saas saas simroh Gobind

I think the Bani can not be more simple and clear.

Sat Sree Akal.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
