Does anyone know the nssal of these ghoray? They look marwari to me, could be wrong.

Guru Ji used to have horses bought over from Persia, so more than likely arabi, Akhal-Teke, turkoman inspired the breeds used by the Sikhs. Old european paintings of the court of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Ji show horses of arabi appearance.

The Budha Dal used to have 80 mares at Raqba at one time for breeding and still have some puratan nasal horses from the famed lineage of Mundra, Raju Baba aka Karamati etc etc. These lines have good size (16hh+)and ears smaller than the marwari etc. If you ever chat with old Nihangs like Baba Maghar Singh then he can give you lots of information on this great bloodline. Sadly one of the stallions from this great puratan line was in very poor shape last I heard. The Bidhi Chand have a stallion in their fauj named Sawai which no one rides as he is reserved for Guru Ji, he is a bit old now but also a fantastic looking horse with good height and some say he has arabi type looks. It is important that these bloodlines are preserved and hopefully horse lovers in Punjab will come together to do this before it is to late.

There are also other bloodlines in Punjab (usually these distinct bloodlines are ignored as the Marwari's from rajasthan get promoted as some sort of super war horse, reality is that the rajasthani horses are nothing when lined next to the punjabi bloodlines). There is also the famous Chuner Wala Ghora who has good height and some of his offspring are amongst the most highly sort after horses in India.

Do you have any pictures of the puratan bloodline horses from Budha Dal veerji? If so i'd really appreciate, or if you know where i can find i'd appreciate.

I attach a photo of the Budha Dal stallion which is from a puratan bloodline. Sadly he is in poor shape. But in the photo you can see his size and conformation.

Veerji people will have you believe all good horses are marwari. Whats a marwari? Some say cover a kathi mare with a sindhi stallion and out pops a marwari. Don't buy too much into the marwari ideas. The second horse in your photo is a Nukra (so called albino), the marwari society do not recognise nukra.

Also some photos of Sawai the stallion of the Bidhi Chand Dal which is kept for Guru Ji (again kudos to Manu veerji for photos).

Yes the Punjab horse society highlighted in your article held their inaugural endurance event a few weeks ago. All of those involved are very pro Punjabi horses and promoting our bloodlines so may Waheguru further their mission forward.

That horse is simply amazing, i agree with you on the marwari idea. Do you know how tall it is, it looks hugee. I saw pictures of people claiming their horse is marwari but they weren't that built and i think the features varied so i don't think there's a set marwari breed.

Do you know what the rough price would be of a horse of the same breed 2-3 years old?

A good colt costs a lakh upwards in Punjab so sky is limit for a good 2-3 year old. Expect to pay a premium for height etc. Offspring of the Bidhi Chand stallion has very good height.

Yes for between 1 and 5 lakh you should be able to pick up a good one. Or get a mare and make a good donation to nihangs to have it covered so maybe you can keep offspring even if it is a colt.

I still can't get over the picture of the black stallion from Bidhi Chand Dal. I can't tell if the horse is just really big or the Singh is a little short?
