i generally felt it was below par. I wasnt happy with them selecting a gori bibi whom appeared to be saying "om" and meditating. (I dont wish to disrespect her as she is our sister so i wont say any more on that) I agree that the cartoon depiction of vasakhi implied that the panj pyare didnt lose their heads which is what the anti sikh forces are trying to suggest.

I feel that there was no need for them to suggest that although sikhi promotes equality between man and woman, that this generally isnt occuring. I firstly dont agree with that, and I really dont understand how that has anything to do with promoting vasakhi, i felt there may be an alternative reason for mentioning it.

i wasnt expecting any better from the bbc. Perhaps our sikh media stations could do a similar programme talking about vasakhi

I agree with you on an extent, but this was a good way to expose people to who Sikhs are in a respectful way. I could be wrong, but i do agree there could have been improvements.

Also, I found the bibi photographer a bit offensive when she spoke of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

I think this would be a good material to expose people around the world as to who Sikhs are and this is a good step.

no need to big up the bbc....

they are only doing this because we have been putting pressure on them to dedicate more airspace to sikhi. they went almost a decade only showing 1 documentary on the sikh faith and dedicated an overwhelming majority of religious documentaries to the islamic faith.

f the bbc put on at a stupid time as usual and used archive footage of Sikhs no new footage and what was the point of putting that woman in who says their is no equality ok i agree there are issues but what did that have to DO with the programme

I agree with you that that ‘fusion’ product of 2011 photography woman was a random no1 and her contribution to the program was not necessary.

I disagree with your view on timing - I think the timing was great! A Sikhi documentary aired at the start of the Easter holidays, DAYTIME AND WEEKEND television on BBC1! also, although some of the footage was archived, I think the majority of it was not.

still not at a high standard, if you want to inform people of your religion on prime time TV you have to make a bigger effort than this.

some of the people who were speaking in this documentary should never have been in this as they are obviously quite novice in their knowledge of sikhism(though they had big fancy titles such as historian or theologian)

the worst was the cartoon part depicting Satguru Sahib Ji with great negativity. In my opinion this should never have been shown in light of how below par it was.

shame on all those who made and contributed to this particularly the bbc asian network girl and teh woman sitting on the sofa with her hair permed.

Apart from the isues below, it was good.

Guru Gobind Singh Jee came out the tent with his sword APPARENTLY dripping in blood? - Tent - everyone has differences in opinion wether tent was used or wether the event occured in public - not a big issue tho.

Steel bowel - incorrect - in future the term sarbloh - pure iron is better

why is the photographer in here??? just to put a downer on it, guru gobind singh meant well but it didnt work?

Bibi Guru Kaur spoke well - apart from oum mantar chanting

Why could they speak of abhiyaas simran, rehat, even what the daily routine of gursikhs is etc

Why does the lady speaking say - sikh holy book?
