too many of these old-school committee types give out bottles of alcohol to get voted in during elections so why would they take the culturally unpopular decision of closing these party halls down? ironically these people taking major roles in sikh council and always appearing on sikh channel saying how great a job they're doing. sikh channel promotes these people because they encourage people to subscribe and are future providers of funds and ease of access for events. cultural people with no pyaar for sikhi except to make money out of it have taken over our Gurughars, media, political parties and other institutions. time for us to reclaim them

Please name even one commitee where they gave out alcohol to get a vote on gurdwara board. It happens at govt. Level even sarpanch votes in india. But im preety certain it has never happened at gurdwara votes in uk.

Excellent Reply above by Gura Singh, lets not forget what this topic is about. The Gurdwara just needs to comeback inline with the Sikh Maryada by stopping meat & sharab etc in their hall. Its pretty simple to be honest. The focus will then turn to the other gurdwara who are breaking the rules. It would be ideal if the committee did this off their own back rather than making the UK Sangat come down in force and make them do it.

It seems like the gurdwara is run by selfish people who have nothing better to do but sit in the cosy office at the gurdwara and devise crazy plans and play with the sangats money.

Wake up and think about the cancer you are spreading in the community. You will have to pay and answer maharaj ji on your deathbeds about the beadbi you are allowing to take place in his gurukar.

Completely agree with GurSa and MentalSingh's posts.

"MentalSingh" - you seem to have struck a nerve of Pyara Singh Bhogal. He went out of his way to mention you in Panth Time.

SikhPaji - I wouldn't be surprised if you're a committee member of Ramgarhia Sikh Temple, Birmingham. Rather than trying to deflect the issue and making into a caste one, just address the real issue that is the promotion of meat, alcohol and tobacco in a hall linked to the Gurdwara and under the name of Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia. Just stop the meat, alcohol, parties and tobacco, and then the Sangat will be off your case!!!

Now that we know the Ramgarhia Committee reads SikhSangat, they should think about all the Paap they are committing by allowing these seriously anti-Sikh activities to go on in the Gurdwara. They will have to pay for this mistake when the JamDoot come to get them. However, if they realise their mistake, close down the parties in the hall, our forever forgiving Guru will no doubt forgive them too.

The only hypocrites are those who post negativity about thier sikh brothers Ramgarhia on this forum and in general. This matter is going beyond a joke in that Ramgarhias are being targetted.

Like it or not all the other so called castes are hypocrites, Tie a turban for the day of thier wedding, get married in front of the Guru Granth Sahib then 30 minutes later shave thier heade

for a sharaab and meat party. Even all the women drink, have short hair, and i suppose they are all Ramgarhias.

<Mod Cut, no insulting other members> and face it that Ramgarhia Sikh Temple is a prestigeous Gurdwara. Ashame those of you making negative comments

dont follow the Sikh Rehat Maryada yourselves. Just read it and digest before criticising others. Maybe you should know that such people who comment like this are responible for ripping the Sikh Community apart..

So to prove your gurdwara is not a hypocrite, tell the gurdwara committee stop the meat and sharab at the hall. It will be good for you to do your research first. Ramgarhia Birmingham is not adhering to Akal Takht Maryada! Not interested in your view of the State of Sikhi etc. Gurdwaras have rules which represent Gurmat, the gurdwara are following their own manmat for their own personal gains.

I did not get to watch Panth Time, will it be repeated? 5 mins of fame or what. I am glad that i have struck a nerve with Mr Bhogal et posse and i hope he reads the other comments made in this discussion and starts to realise the mistakes they are making. Most likely they will just hide under the cast umbrella use it to deflect critiscm.

Also, i know for a fact that Mr Bhogal et crew provide meat and alcoholic refreshments at their group meetings to ensure the communities muppets vote for them.

Mr Bhogal stop being a hypocrite and show us you want the best for Sikhi and our community and are willing stand up against the committee's wrong doings and make a stand and we will stand with you. Are you a Mouse or a Lion of the Khalsa ????

Dr Bhogal was trying to imply that GurSikhs standing up against this Beadbi are extremists. He gave the example of your username being "MentalSingh" to suggest that we are all completely unreasonable, and perhaps, even mental - LOL!!!

Classic committee trick of trying to deflect attention away from the real issue of concern.

I was disappointed and frankly outraged at Dr Pyara Singh Bhogal's provocative attitude on the Panth Time programme broadcast on Sikh Channel last night. It came accross as an attempt to divert attention from the anti Sikh activities of the RST committee by tarnishing the UK Sangat as a bunch of firebrand illiterate naujwaan and then playing the low blow of claiming victimisation of the "Ramgharia" community.

The Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib clearly stated, live on European TV, how much of a gross sacrilegious act any hall associated to a Guru Ghar which in turn allows alcohol, meat and naach gana etc is. Yet, in my opinion, it appeared that Dr Bhogal continually ignored the Gurmat driven decisions of Akal Taktht Sahib. He did not once give any Gurmat reasoning regarding his stance and was more adamant to incorrectly portray the Satkaar campaign as fundamentalist movement.

At the end of the day, all that is being asked is that a "holy place be kept holy". Dr Bhogal needs to perhaps understand that there is a much bigger picture to all of this and not take this as a personal attack on his committee.

Tommorrow's Panth Time will more than likely be recorded at the Maharaja Jassa Singh Ramgharia Hall in Birmingham. No doubt we will hear a whole range of ludicrous claims by the committee of RST and accusations of various kinds to cloud the real issue.
