At 564 posts mine says: Maadho Hum Aisay Thoo Aisaa

no clue what it means yet, but usually maadho is monster in punjabi

so maybe it saying I'm a monster... :wub:

ADMIN NOTE: hehehe... bhainjee Maadho is referring to Waaheguroo and it does not mean monster in this case. It is similar to saying "har jee," or "waheguru jee," or "mere gobinda," or "mere raam." I am not sure of the exact meaning - please read the translations on sikhitothemax.com and then post here again with your findings! Also don't just paste the translation, try to discuss your interpretation and your feelings in response to the shabad. -8

okay i haven't had the chance to think about this so for now this post might not be the ideal type of response but here goes...

in short this means.... ( i think )

my mind has been hit with the arrow of God's love

so now i'm in love with God... as if Guru jee is cupid and he shot the arrow of love for God into me...

This shabad came from God, through the 4th Mahala, Dhan Dhan Guru Ram Das Sahib Jee Maharaaj.

It is on Ang 861 of Dhan Dhan Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaaj.

The whole shabad is as follows:

go(n)dd mehalaa 4 ||

GO(N)DD = the Raag

Mehalaa 4 = Shabad is by the 4th Mansion - Guru Ram Das Ji

har dharasan ko maeraa man bahu thapathai jio thrikhaava(n)th bin neer ||1||

HAR = God

DHARSAN = meeting, getting to see, visit

KO = of / to have

MAERAA = my

MUN = mind

BAHU = a lot

THAPTHAI = thirsty / wanting

JIO = just like / as if

THRIKHAAVANTH = the thirsty wanderer

BIN = without

NEER = a drop of water

basic interpretation: my mind is very very thirsty for the blessed vision of my beloved God, like a thirsty traveller in a desert feels without a drop of water

when I read the admin's note, then all of a sudden I remembered this line from:

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl:

We are filthy, and You are immaculate, O Creator Lord; we are worthless, and You

We are sinners, and You are the Destroyer of sins. Your abode is so beautiful, O Lord and Master. ||Pause||

So looks like from this shabad it is telling us the difference between mortals and the immortal Akal Purkh. We are foolish idiots who fall into the trap of duality and maya stuff but God is always perfect. When something bad happens to us we wonder why God let's bad things happen but even the bad things are good things. All this is said in one line (my rank quote) and the rest of the shabad goes into some details.

Gur -- Guru, Satguru, God?

Dekhay --- to see

Neendh -- Sleep, fatigue

Na -- Not, will not, no

Aavay -- Come..

I can not possibly sleep without seeing my Guruji??

I'm glad to see this kind of discussion on the philosophy of Sikhi.

There was a time when some were criticized for interpreting Gurbani, but isn't that what makes it so dynamic? Something that applies to every person at every point in their lives?

A picture is not a thousand words, as a word is a thousand pictures. Gurbani has taught me this, and I see now that Waheguru is the cause and exists as a result of the cause of all things on this planet. Let us continue to search for meanings behind such an extrordinary Immortal Guruji.

My Gurbani quote is from Patshahi 10, Mahala 10, Dhan Guru Gobind Singh Sahib jee:

har har jan duee ayk hai(n)

bib bichaar kachh naahi

har = god

har jan = god's servant

duee = both

ayk hai(n) = are one and the same

bib = duality

bichaar = the thought of, the reflection on

Kachh naahi = there is none

There's no need to reflect on the differences between God and God's slave, they have the same light of infinite love and truth, and thus they are one and the same like water in water
