Dusshera In Sikhism

I have question regarding importance of Dussehra in Sikhism. I read about it in source http://www.manglacharan.com/2010/10/dusshera-gurbilas-patshahi-10.html .

It seems to me Brahminical practice. There are some other such condemned practices like Shraadh, Hom or Havan etc.

Can anyone put some light over it.

Waheguru Jio , Gurmat considers all days to be the same.

In this age of kalyug we find an abundance of excuses for not attending Satsangat.

Historically festivals and occasions were a good way of taking time out of the rat race and engaging in Seva and Simran.

ps shraad and havan are not Gurmat.

ਦੁਸਹਰੇ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਪੂਜਾ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਕਰਨ । ਚੰਡੀਪਾਠ ਕੀਤਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਨ ।

On the days of Dusshera, worship your weapons. From your mouths you should recite the ballads of Chandi [Chandi Chritars and Chandi Di Vaar].

ਧੂਪ ਦੀਪ, ਪੁਸ਼ਪ, ਬਹੁਤ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁਗੰਧਿ । ਕੇਸਰ, ਚੰਦਨ, ਚਉਰ ਝੁਲੰਤ ।੩੯੦।

[Worship your weapons by using] lots of Incense, Gee-lamps, flowers and nice fragrances. [use] Saffron, Sandalwood and a Wisk to wave [above your weapons].

can you explain the second part better? I don't think any GurSikh worships Vaheguru using the things you mentioned.

Every taksal and nihang gurduwara I go to use a chaur sahib, gee lamp, incense and other things.

Also it's not what I mentioned but what is written in historical granths.

Historically Dushera is a hindu festival, and is celebrated in remeberance of Ram, the son of king Dashrath. Ram was an incarnation of Vishnu jee.

People rejoice in celebrating it, as Ram rescued his wife Sita and killed the demon Ravan.

It represents the victory of goodness over evil.

For us as sikhs, we can have another more accurate view about this whole scene in the perspective of sikhee.

Our soul is represented as Sita, the ten headed demon Ravan, as the mind with its ten heads as 5 karam indriyas and 5 gyan indriyas. This demon mind has kept us prisoners in this mayavee creation; keeping us apart from our Lord Wahiguru.

This demon, plays tricks upon us, in the form of vaasnas, trishnas, etc, in order to divert our attention, our rememberance of our true Lord Wahiguru, towards the perisahble mayavee creation

But then, the soul, using the Name or Naam of Wahiguru and making Him pargat within, He is manifested as Shabad Guru, who defeats this dusht mind or kaal, and takes the wadbhgee soul back to Sach Khand, our true everlasting blissful land... once the soul reaches there, there is an endless festival of Lights, of the Jot of Wahiguru.

Outer dusheras and diwalis last only a few days, but, in the inner spiritual realms, there is constant Diwali, when the bride soul, gets reunited with the beloved Wahiguru

Well, this was a play... an mystical interpretation of this seasonal festival ....

Guest Vivek  - Naag Vanshi

In ancient History of India as we know Jaat were Naagvanshi and became Buddhist and on the Dashra which is Vijay Dashmi  on this day Samrath Ashok accepted Buddhism after winning war as per name Vijay which is winning and Dashmi as after Ten days  This was really happy movement for Buddhism at that time and for Naag Vanshi
