ਧਨੁ

धनु जोबनु अरु फुलड़ा नाठीअड़े दिन चारि ॥

Ḏẖan joban ar fulṛā nāṯẖī▫aṛe ḏin cẖār.

Wealth, the beauty of youth and flowers are guests for only a few days.

ਪਬਣਿ ॥੧॥

पबणि केरे पत जिउ ढलि ढुलि जुमणहार ॥१॥

Pabaṇ kere paṯ ji▫o dẖal dẖul jummaṇhār. ||1||

Like the leaves of the water-lily, they wither and fade and finally die. ||1||

ਰੰਗੁ

रंगु माणि लै पिआरिआ जा जोबनु नउ हुला ॥

Rang māṇ lai pi▫āri▫ā jā joban na▫o hulā.

Be happy, dear beloved, as long as your youth is fresh and delightful.

ਦਿਨ

दिन थोड़ड़े थके भइआ पुराणा चोला ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Ḏin thoṛ▫ṛe thake bẖa▫i▫ā purāṇā cẖolā. ||1|| rahā▫o.

But your days are few-you have grown weary, and now your body has grown old. ||1||Pause||

ਸਜਣ

सजण मेरे रंगुले जाइ सुते जीराणि ॥

Sajaṇ mere rangule jā▫e suṯe jārāṇ.

My playful friends have gone to sleep in the graveyard.

ਹੰ ॥੨॥

हं भी वंञा डुमणी रोवा झीणी बाणि ॥२॥

Haʼn bẖī vañā dumṇī rovā jẖīṇī bāṇ. ||2||

In my double-mindedness, I shall have to go as well. I cry in a feeble voice. ||2||

ਕੀ

की न सुणेही गोरीए आपण कंनी सोइ ॥

Kī na suṇehī gorī▫e āpaṇ kannī so▫e.

Haven't you heard the call from beyond, O beautiful soul-bride?

ਲਗੀ ॥੩॥

लगी आवहि साहुरै नित न पेईआ होइ ॥३॥

Lagī āvahi sāhurai niṯ na pe▫ī▫ā ho▫e. ||3||

You must go to your in-laws; you cannot stay with your parents forever. ||3||

ਨਾਨਕ

नानक सुती पेईऐ जाणु विरती संनि ॥

Nānak suṯī pe▫ī▫ai jāṇ virṯī sann.

O Nanak, know that she who sleeps in her parents' home is plundered in broad daylight.

Marṇā mulā marṇā.

Death, O Mullah-death will come,

भी करतारहु डरणा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Bẖī karṯārahu darṇā. ||1|| rahā▫o.

so live in the Fear of God the Creator. ||1||Pause||

ਤਾ

ता तू मुला ता तू काजी जाणहि नामु खुदाई ॥

Ŧā ṯū mulā ṯā ṯū kājī jāṇėh nām kẖuḏā▫ī.

You are a Mullah, and you are a Qazi, only when you know the Naam, the Name of God.

ਜੇ ॥੨॥

जे बहुतेरा पड़िआ होवहि को रहै न भरीऐ पाई ॥२॥

Je bahuṯerā paṛi▫ā hovėh ko rahai na bẖarī▫ai pā▫ī. ||2||

You may be very educated, but no one can remain when the measure of life is full. ||2||

ਸੋਈ

सोई काजी जिनि आपु तजिआ इकु नामु कीआ आधारो ॥

So▫ī kājī jin āp ṯaji▫ā ik nām kī▫ā āḏẖāro.

He alone is a Qazi, who renounces selfishness and conceit, and makes the One Name his Support.

ਹੈ ॥੩॥

है भी होसी जाइ न जासी सचा सिरजणहारो ॥३॥

Hai bẖī hosī jā▫e na jāsī sacẖā sirjaṇhāro. ||3||

The True Creator Lord is, and shall always be. He was not born; He shall not die. ||3||

ਪੰਜ

पंज वखत निवाज गुजारहि पड़हि कतेब कुराणा ॥

Panj vakẖaṯ nivāj gujārėh paṛėh kaṯeb kurāṇā.

You may chant your prayers five times each day; you may read the Bible and the Koran.

इहु तनु होसी खाक निमाणी गोर घरे ॥१॥

Ih ṯan hosī kẖāk nimāṇī gor gẖare. ||1||

This body shall turn to dust, and its home shall be a neglected graveyard. ||1||

ਆਜੁ

आजु मिलावा सेख फरीद टाकिम कूंजड़ीआ मनहु मचिंदड़ीआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Āj milāvā Sekẖ Farīḏ tākim kūnjaṛī▫ā manhu macẖinḏ▫ṛī▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.

You can meet the Lord today, O Shaykh Fareed, if you restrain your bird-like desires which keep your mind in turmoil. ||1||Pause||

ਜੇ

जे जाणा मरि जाईऐ घुमि न आईऐ ॥

Je jāṇā mar jā▫ī▫ai gẖum na ā▫ī▫ai.

If I had known that I was to die, and not return again,

ਝੂਠੀ ॥੨॥

झूठी दुनीआ लगि न आपु वञाईऐ ॥२॥

Jẖūṯẖī ḏunī▫ā lag na āp vañā▫ī▫ai. ||2||

I would not have ruined myself by clinging to the world of falsehood. ||2||

ਬੋਲੀਐ

बोलीऐ सचु धरमु झूठु न बोलीऐ ॥

Bolī▫ai sacẖ ḏẖaram jẖūṯẖ na bolī▫ai.

So speak the Truth, in righteousness, and do not speak falsehood.

ਜੋ ॥੩॥

जो गुरु दसै वाट मुरीदा जोलीऐ ॥३॥

Jo gur ḏasai vāt murīḏā jolī▫ai. ||3||

The disciple ought to travel the route, pointed out by the Guru. ||3||

ਛੈਲ

छैल लंघंदे पारि गोरी मनु धीरिआ ॥

Cẖẖail langẖanḏe pār gorī man ḏẖīri▫ā.

Seeing the youths being carried across, the hearts of the beautiful young soul-brides are encouraged.

ਕੰਚਨ ॥੪॥

कंचन वंने पासे कलवति चीरिआ ॥४॥

Kancẖan vanne pāse kalvaṯ cẖīri▫ā. ||4||

Those who side with the glitter of gold, are cut down with a saw. ||4||

ਸੇਖ

सेख हैयाती जगि न कोई थिरु रहिआ ॥

Sekẖ haiyāṯī jag na ko▫ī thir rahi▫ā.

O Shaykh, no one's life is permanent in this world.

ਜਿਸੁ ॥੫॥

जिसु आसणि हम बैठे केते बैसि गइआ ॥५॥

Jis āsaṇ ham baiṯẖe keṯe bais ga▫i▫ā. ||5||

That seat, upon which we now sit - many others sat on it and have since departed. ||5||

ਕਤਿਕ

कतिक कूंजां चेति डउ सावणि बिजुलीआं ॥

Kaṯik kūʼnjāʼn cẖeṯ da▫o sāvaṇ bijulī▫āʼn.

As the swallows appear in the month of Katik, forest fires in the month of Chayt, and lightning in Saawan,

ਸੀਆਲੇ ॥੬॥

सीआले सोहंदीआं पिर गलि बाहड़ीआं ॥६॥

Sī▫āle sohanḏī▫āʼn pir gal bāhṛī▫āʼn. ||6||

and as the bride's arms adorn her husband's neck in winter;||6||

ਚਲੇ

चले चलणहार विचारा लेइ मनो ॥

Cẖale cẖalaṇhār vicẖārā le▫e mano.

Just so, the transitory human bodies pass away. Reflect upon this in your mind.

ਗੰਢੇਦਿਆਂ ॥੭॥

गंढेदिआं छिअ माह तुड़ंदिआ हिकु खिनो ॥७॥

Gandẖeḏi▫āʼn cẖẖi▫a māh ṯuṛanḏi▫ā hik kẖino. ||7||

It takes six months to form the body, but it breaks in an instant. ||7||

ਜਿਮੀ

जिमी पुछै असमान फरीदा खेवट किंनि गए ॥

Jimī pucẖẖai asmān Farīḏā kẖevat kinn ga▫e.

O Fareed, the earth asks the sky, "Where have the boatmen gone?

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
