Is it only me or someone else also thinks that the name of this website is very very close to Ikoangkaar? The link is http://www.eckankar.org/index.html if anyone wants to check it out. I just found it's youtube page from the side adverts, which linked me to the website.

Seems to to be taking some concepts familiar to Sikhs - the name, the fact that their leader is called a "Mahanta".

Similar to Sikhism is that first paragraph. Humans sent to have spiritual experience and then to re-merge into the Almighty.

Then it turns Radhasoami:

"Personal experience with the Light and Sound of God is the cornerstone of Eckankar."

It's like a dera in India, except the Baba is a Western one. Let's hope he has some spiritual avasta and can take his followers to a proper path. Otherwise, the master that is himself incompetent can do nothing but drown and take his followers with him.

Outside of that...whatever. We have more to worry from the deras in India that Mr. Klemp.

it's not unusual for westerners (or easterners for that matter) to gain some spiritual attainment, and put together their own movement fusing concepts from various dharms along with their own vichaars and experiences.

Hello,

I am a member of Eckankar and am also very interested in Sikhism. I have found Eckankar quite innovative in the sense that it enables westerners to access information about Eastern religions. It is an interesting mix for me. I find I can relate it to science and quantum physics also.

I am interested in other views about this.
