What Is The Critera For A Mahapurush ?

Recommended Posts

Gurbani tells us :-

" Har jaisa PURAKH na labhaee, sabh dekheya jagat mae tole."

When there is no purakh in this world who is similar to Guru/ Har,

than definitely there is no MAHAPURAKH in this universe, if you believe

Gurbani.

Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji Maharajh stresses the importance of Sant de seva. The definition of a Sant etc.

http://www.scribd.com/mokhamsingh

The 12 page ebook named Sant de Seva will explain this. The other ebook chapters by 6th Patshahi also covers Gurmat Gyan. Very interesting & informative in my opinion.

Matheen,

I could be mistaken but Guru Nanak Dev Ji searched a vast area for a sant/mahapurush but could not find one yet now all of a sudden, in the last 20-30 years we have hundreds lined up?? I think the maths just don't add up, unless GuruJi was looking at the wrong place, why didn't He try Punjab???

But I agree as well in that if there are sants/ mahapurukhs then we are all collectively that (sadh sangat), but yeah do educate us more....

Mr. K. SINGH DEEP SIngh ji

We only see SGGSji as a Holy Book. Have we ever got a Parthak Darshan of Guru Gobind Singh ji or Guru Nanak Dev ji in it.

Because GurBani Says.

GurbaniBani kehe Sevak Jan Manne, Parthak Guru Nistare

Matheen,

Guru Ji didn't have a need to find Sants, (but Bhagat Kabir and Prehlad are referred to as 'Sant' in Gurbani) however think about it this way - Guru Ji's teachings are such that if followed, you will get to see the real saroop of Gurbani i.e. partakh darshan of Guru Sahib, and you will become a Mahapursh. More than that, eventually there wil be no difference between you and God, as the Tuk posted in my previous post shows. That is the greatness of our Guru. If Guru Ji's techings had no effect, then why follow them? Gurbani is so great that anyone, even the biggest papi can change and become a Bhramgyani in one lifetime.

To say that there can't be Sants/ Mahapursh is to belittle Guru Ji's teachings.

I'm talking about real Sants here - there are probably very few in the world. Just because the majority of people calling themselves Sants may not be Sants, it doesn't mean that real Sants don't exist.

Guru Rakha.

That is why We take Charan Amrit from Shri Harmandir Sahib(in other Main gurdwaras also) when we enter Gurudwara from Joda Ghar.

Because of Sant and Mahapurash, THis earth and We are getting Food and shelter. (There is one Gurubani Pankti in SGGSji, Not coming in my mind which expalins this Tuk)

Matheen veer/phen ji,

what you have said, dass is agreeable to that. The problem is some "sant samaj" follower/hardcore fans pushing for the idea that, if you want to meet your guru you need to have a "mahapursh" as a vichola. Without meeting one, ones gursikhi is not possible.

Without meeting a Sant , one cannot possible advance in their jivan.

The 'Sant' word in Gurbani does not exclusively refers to human beings who have achieved Param Pad , it has also been used for Guru Sahib and also saints(holy souls, sadhsangat).

The SANT astpadee in Sri Sukhmani Sahib does not refer to a Saint, it refers to Guru Sahib. Below pangtis sheds light on the SANT word being used for Guru Sahib.

ਸੰਤਕੀਸੇਵਾਨਾਮੁਧਿਆਈਐ ॥

(ang 265) ( keep in mind that Sant is a singular in this pangti, hence there can only be 1)

(if the pangti above refers to a an enlighten soul , then what is the below pangtee suppose to mean?)

ਹਰਿਕੀਟਹਲਕਮਾਵਣੀਜਪੀਐਪ੍ਰਭਕਾਨਾਮੁ ॥

(ang 300) ਟਹਲ = seva

both the pagtees are telling us the same truth.....

how can one do Seva of Naam.?..and through whom it can be done?

Seva of Sri Guru ji is the Seva(dhiavena) of Naam . This truth is further proved in this pangti:

ਕਬੀਰਸੇਵਾਕਉਦੁਇਭਲੇਏਕੁਸੰਤੁਇਕੁਰਾਮੁ ॥

ਰਾਮੁਜੁਦਾਤਾਮੁਕਤਿਕੋਸੰਤੁਜਪਾਵੈਨਾਮੁ ॥੧੬੪॥

ਏਕੁ ਸੰਤੁ = again it is singular.

If those who say sant does not refer to Guru Sahib, they need to ask themselves where does it leave Guru Sahib in the pangti above by Kabeer ji then?

both the pagtees are telling us the same truth.....

This pangti explains everything you want to know about a Sant Pursh's(enlighten soul) character:

When makhan shah lubana went to Baba Bakala there were dozens of Gurus sitting there calling

them as supreme.Wisdom of Makhan shah found the right Guru.

Genuine sant babas do not mislead sangat. They preach gurmat telling sangat that Guru Granth sahib

is their Guru.Gurmat oriented sikhs know who is fake sant baba.
