Sikh Channel - Bibi Fasion Statement

Sangat Ji,

I feel it is important for the Sikh Channel to know the views of others due to the beadbi of Maharajs Roop they are allowing.

The advert for the "Childrens program" the Bibi posing as the "Mom" wears a read dastar. As this is not a Khalsa colour, why wear it so it makes others think this is an accepted colour to the Khalsa? We try to preach to non sikhs when they see our wedding photos why we do not wear red but instead blue and white and why we do not wear red dastars but if the "Keep it Free for the Non Sikh Viewers" see this, it raises questions and as do all people, if they see something on the TV, it means more to them then someone saying something.

Secondly, the bibi doing the show this morning, wore a pink dastar!?! And then had makeup on aswel? Please can someone correct me, but i have always been taught by Gursikhs, at camps, in the gurdwara sahib makeup is wrong? Please can this now be confirmed?!?

The "Sikh channel" really does NOT seem to be showing the correct image of the Sikhs which this level of Maharajs Roop being disrespeted.

Sikh Channel, please correct this actions. I did email you but i did not receive any response.

My apologies if there are any bibia on here who feel it is ok to wear a dastar and makeup or multi coloured fashion statement dastars. As a abibi myself, i feel this is not the way forward. We want to be "Amritdhari" and wear Dastars but more importantly, want to dress like manmukhs and disrespect the image of the Khalsa with painting our faces to make ourselves feel pretty.

While i mention this, please sikh channel, "PLEASE FORGET TO TAKE OF THE NOTICE ABOUT NOT FORGETTING TO SET UP A DIRECT DEBIT". If your channel is supposed to be continuous, maharaj will himself provide enough funding without you constantly forcing people to feel the need to donate. See there is a difference between donate and setting up a direct debit. You can post it on your website, not leave a notice and run special shows just on how to fill in the damn form. Im sure, we all know how to fill in our details seeing as we have to fill them in for just about anything we do in todays world.

My apologies Sangat Ji, the nature of the channel constantly requestin money and now seeing how they are allowing bibis to potray the dastar, is more so putting me off watching the channel full stop. From watching daily, i know only flick over for Sukhmani sahib at 12pm and occasionaly if i get a call to say there is nice Katha / Keertan on the live show. I really have lost interest in watching the channel as all i see is the continuous degrading of Sikhi - TO BEG FOR MONEY.

Baba Nand Singh Ji, Nanaksarwale, enforced his chellay had no money at all while doing seva with him. No money for food, no money for the Gurdwara sahib nothing. They were not allowed to have money at all. The reason why? Because he had full faith in maharaj that only he can provide what he needs. We have stooped to just begging for money. It makes me think, what has Sikhi now become.

The channel is good, i like the idea, just not the begging and displaying of the Khalsa image.

I’m sorry if this post offends anyone, but I seriously need to know this because I just can’t get clear correct answer, also it’s slightly off topic.

I want to know in the Sikh history or rehat, are women suppose to wear dastaar, if so then how what’s the history behind it.

Now days we see women with dastaar aswell as chunni, but is it that amritdhari women only can wear dastaar or something?

If you feel so strongly about it why don't you approach the Sikh Channel directly? People are making it sound like the world will perish unless as many people as possible are told! Contact the those involved you silly people.

On a side note it's not like all of us are perfect either. At least the people on the Sikh Channel are doing some sort of seva? They're giving up their own time and money in order to educate our children. Which is more than can be said for the majority of people here.

I just hope none of you have any item of red clothing lol... don't preach about something if you aren't following it yourself...

are you telling me we all only have clothing which is blue, kesri etc.?

Military colours are on a battle ground, funny thing is the people complaining about these colours wouldn't last a day in battle. Internet warriors indeed.

Sikh Channel has been a great platform for Sikhi, Keep up the good work!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

This is a quote from puratan rehat

The Four Colours of the Khalsa'Blue, Black, White and Saffron

These four colours are to be worn, other colours excite the mind and lure it to vices, and are therefore prohibited. Amritdhari Singhs/Singhni’s are specifically not to wear red or green at anytime. One is to dress humbly, any simple colours can be worn. Amritdhari women are not to wear ear rings, nose-rings, rings, bangles, nail polish, lipstick, bindi, henna, keeping long nails, wearing a saree etc. Piercing of any kind is prohibited.'

So guys pleased don't mock the colours given to us by Guru Ji There here for a reason!

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
