The Sikh Channel

Namdharis are not apart of Sikhi and their kathavachiks must not be in Gurdwara's doing katha or doing katha under Sikhi. The fact is they believe in this Ram Singh as their Guru and this defies Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji's Hukam. Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is Guru. This cult has taken their own root and have no part in Sikhi.

For the Sikh channel to play a Namdharis kathavachik is completely wrong. This guy when speaking about Guru is talking about this Ram Singh guy and not Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. This confuses alot of people and puts them on the wrong track. He will say the Guru said this and confuse people that it is said in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, when it's NOT.

Guru Nanak Dev ji son went his own way did Guru Nanak Dev ji get him to carry on Sikhi. NO! Follow in Guru Nanak Dev ji's foot steps and let these cults do their own thing and don't let them tell us about Sikhi. We don't need Ram Singh people preaching to us. We have the Greatest Guru; Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and the Khalsa Panth to lead us-the way Sri Guru Gobind SIngh Sahib ji said. Let's obey the Hukam and pray for the Panth.

Namdharis, if you find this offensive, well then the Truth sometime stings.

Don't be fooled by these Namdharis they are misleading many people. If you want to read this whole shabad then it starts on ang sung 919. These fake Guru's are cause much heart ache in India by giving people false hope, don't support their decieving ways.

Some Sikhs are saying that Namdharis should not be allowed on the Sikh channel because of a Akal Takht directive saying they are not Sikhs.

Akal Takht says Sikhs can eat meat (non-halal).

Therefore is it ok for a someone to come on the Sikh Channel and say it is ok for Sikhs to eat meat?

If not, why not?

Will Sikh channel criticise the practice of slaughtering a goat at Hazoor Sahib?

Akal Takht says prakash of any other than Guru Granth Sahib Ji is fobidden.

Does that mean all the Taksali's should be banned from the Sikh Channel?

Sikh Channel is now facing and will continue to face criticism from one Sikh group or another.

Each group will seek to influence the Sikh channel on their own interpretation of Sikhi.

Sikh channel must be strong.

My personal view is that the SIkh channel should follow the teaching of Guru Granth Sahib Jee and stay away from Akal Takht directives, rehatnamas etc as Guru Granth Sahib Jee is the be all and end all.

We are looking for presenters, panelists, audience members and anyone who wishes to participate on the Sikh Channel shows which will begin production in 2 weeks time.

On 16th May 2009, (this Saturday) from 1pm, we would like to invite you to get involved. We will be interviewing candidates thoroughly, checking CV's and doing screen tests to find the right people for shows. So if you wish to take part, please drop us a private message or email gurpreet@sikhchannel.tv

We desperately require confident amrit dhaari Gursikhs to come forward for pre-recorded shows - this our chance as Gursikhs to help inspire others to follow the path Guru Nanak Dev Jee wishes us to follow.

No, they dont have to be amrit dhaari... the reason why we have posted this on Sikh Sangat is that because everywhere else we have posted this, the majority of the response has been from non amrit dhaaris, who we will audition as well, theres no issues there. Our aim here though, is to get more amrit dhaari presenters and panelists on board who have knowledge of Sikhi to help with shows etc as the response from Gursikhs has been very low.

They should be amritdhaaree you should have someone who is actually a living/practicing gursikh to be the voice of your channel not someone who hasn't adopted the basic fundamentals of the faith.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
