I've been amritdhari for the past couple years now and have never gone swimming since taking amrit. My question is what do amritdhari people do with their kirpans when going swimming if its possible to go at all??

tie it into your keski. for girls, wear shorts that will cover your kachhera and a modest swim top. it's totally possible (and fun) to go swimming, even as an amritdhari.

i'd actually encourage everyone to know how to swim. it's a skill that could save someone's life someday.

i miss swimming! I used to go all the time til my ear got messed up...cant wait to go back again...it's totally doable for amritdhari's as bhenji said

lol... i'm an amritdhari girl. i wear shorts to swim in. i'm wearing a skirt today. who cares if my legs are hairy. that's how God made me. if society thinks hairy legs are uncool... to bad for them. i'm not out to impress society. in fact, i think their idea of beauty (a woman with no hair on her body- like a child) are disgusting.

don't let leg hair stop you from getting great exercise and having fun! show your leg hair with pride, bhenji. it's very liberating! :D

at kaurs united there was a pool at the camp site we just wore t-shirts and sweat pants like u kno those light fabric ones so they dont stick to u either they have like a mesh layer underneath

it didnt matter to wear shorts anywyas cuz it was all girls\

but yea its all bout comfort level sum ppl feel comfortable shwoing their legs and sum ppl like me have never let my legs see the world lol

i got these darkblue adidas mesh sweatpants ;p

oh and for the original poster when i went swimming i wore the kirpan i wear in the shower as in a stainless steel kirpan just under my clothes becuz i dont like getting my sarbloh kirpans rusty lol

great point about the kirpan, bhenji... be sure not to wear a kirpan with wood or leather on the handle or cover (sheath), because those will rot when they get wet. stainless steel is best for swimming!

if ur gonna with sarbloh anyways, oil ur kirpan well, it'll help to some extent to prevent the water from being absorbed or w.e by the iron

and then dry it asap when u get out, and if possible blow dry it later

Girls can get full body swimsuits which have the extra benefit of making you look like a professional Olympic swimmer.
