As this post was so nice....

"What is a kakkaar ? A kakkaar is something whose name startes with "k" and is to be kept with the body all the time. Nihung Singhs are supposed to keep a blue keski ALL THE TIME. Even while drying their hair, they are supposed to cover the head with a keski. That makes keski a kakkaar. GALL KHATAM."

akal-sehna,

I know my english isnt great but I guess it must have become extremely bad as u are not being able to understand what my aatmaaa is trying to say. or may be u just dont want to understand.

Budha dal believes in kesh as kakkaar and NOT kesgi. Its clearly written in their rehit maryada. HOW CAN I CHANGE THAT ?

21. Panj kakaar (Kes, Kangha,Kara, Kirpan, Kachhera) eh sareer de ang samjhaney, kis vakht (ishnan karan samey ja raat saun samey) koi kakaar sareer ton vakh nahi karney."

I personally believe in keski to be a kakkaar and the rehit maryada that I keep for keski, budha dal guys keep a stronger rehit for keski. I keep my head nanga when drying my hair, but Budha Dal people dont. According to their rehit, ones head shud never be nanga and always covered with keski.

That is the reason I feel they treat keski as a kakkaar(not that they call it a kakkaar in their rehit maryada).

woohooooo

lets turn every awesome, unbiased, informative thread in to a jatha bashing!!

AKAAALLUUHHHH

KIL THE INFIDEELLLSSSSS

i dont think we need to go in the technicalities of whether or not kes is kakkar or keski is

b.c they cant be seperated

it is manmat for a singh/singhni to go about without keski if they believe in only kes as kakkar

and it is also manmat to keep only keski and have cut hair if u believe in keski as kakkar

THEY ARE INSEPERABLE, whether you are male or female

in the end:

gagan mandal mai bunga hamara mahakal rakhvara hai

mai gur mil uch dumalrha

sabat soorat dastar sira

and dont tell me i took this tuk out of context, or that it is addressed to muslims

maharaj addressed bani to his sikhs, if they used udharans and examples of other faiths to prove a point, so be it, in the end EVERY BIT of bani is addressed and applicable to sikhs

Just another thing id like to point out lol. I started translating this Rehat with my mum lol and i coul;dnt find it on the english version on here, but it says that when doing Rehraas you must also do Aarti aswell :)

Its mentioned in point no. 9

"Shami - Sodar Rehraas --Aarti Aarta parhe ja suney. Saaun samey kirtan sohila da path kar ardas kar bisraam karey"

Aarti is a collection of beautiful shabads and one shud try to sing arti daily.

I dont know much about artaa. May be some nihung veer can tell about arta. I guess it must be contaning Dasam Bani.

thanks to freed paji i have got this

Rahit Naama of Bhai Chaupa Singh Ji contains the following couplet regarding 'rahits':

ਕਛ ਕੜਾ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ਕੰਘਾ ਕੇਸਕੀ, ਇਹ ਪੰਜ ਕਕਾਰੀ ਰਹਿਤ ਧਾਰੇ ਸਿਖ ਸੋਈ ।

Kachh, Kada, Kirpan, Kangha, Keski. Eh Panj Kakaari Rahit Dhaarey Sikh Soyee.

To be a Sikh, one must observe five rahits of wearing five Sikh symbols beginning with 'K': Kachh, Karha, Kirpan, Kangha, and Keski.

(Those Sikhs not believing in keski have wrongfully broken the word Keski in this couplet into two words, Kes and Ki, indicating it to mean "the rahit of keshas.")

Oh please. Have you read the rest of his Rehat Nama? don't want to start a keski debate, but what about all the other Rehat Namas that state Kesh and not Keski? Or Sri Dasam Granth and Sarbloh Granth?

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
