This will give some insight into why meat and drugs was used by Sikhs. This is not to start a debate but to educate some of you, so think before you reply to this topic!!!

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Pirk-LO9Vnw

Guru Gobind Singh gave us Bir Rass to fill our bellies on the battlefield, in the rehat maryada he prohibits intoxicants, those who rely on marijuana in battle, they have no faith in gurbani, and guru gobind singh himself states, that if you read my baanis, you will get bir raas, you will fight without the need for any drugs.

the video says nothing about meat and i know for a fact that chardikala jatha are all vegetarian

there are avastha of different singhs ... during those days everyday singhs die and every day new singhs come up to join dals ... do u think a singh who take amrit just one day back next day he finds himself against 10000 mughals he can fight in same manner as a singh who had 20 years of banni abheyas ???

yes because naam and bani has absolutley no power  guess the singhs just read it for fun.

take a sword make a wound on ur leg (if u dont faint looking at blood) then take ur gutka sahib and start reading banni ... or ... make a paste of bhang turmeric and rose put on ur wound ... what would u do ???

I can understand what you are saying and i can understand applying paste to a wound, but the drinking it is against Guroo Sahib's hukam.

Singhs of the lower avastha would prefer to die than commit a kurehit, just like they would refuse to cut hair, why would they ever agree to take nasha to to save their life?

Plus its disgusting when people say that Sant Sipahis like Baba Deep Singh Ji or even Guroo Sahib drank bhang, do most nihangs also believe this is wrong then?

Why is there a topic on Nihangs almost twice a week? And it's always marjuana this or meat that, forget it sort yourselves out and when we are all at an avastha where only Guru Sahib matters, all these "little" questions will become nonconsequential

Go educate your self it is stated in many a place that in guruji army they used cannabis and also ate meat in times of war. They also ate bark and used drugs to digest the things they ate. The reason people find it so hard to comprehend is because they are so narrow minded. Sikhi is not a religion but a way of life!! Guru Gobind Singh Ji was a Nihang so was baba deep singh ji seriously go educate your selves in your OWN history.

Ang 1377

Says Kabir, whoever consumes alcohol, cannabis (bhang) and fish, in spite of religious practices, pilgrimages and fasting etc shall proceed to hell

i am the biggest papi on this earth but even i wouldnt try and question Bhagat Kabir Ji

what guru sahib and guru sahib pyari fauj did in battle only they know.

You all sit on you cosy chairs on you expensive computers chatting rubbish.

Put youself in real battle environment and then ask yourself what what i do.

Those who say they would rather die than eat meat and living in kookoo land.

Do you really think that maharaj would not forgive his pyara fauji after he was fighting for the last 3 weeks without food.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
