CHICAGO - Sikh Religious Society of Chicago organized a peaceful vigil and demonstration on Saturday May 10, 2008 at Northwestern University Evanston Illinois, Kelogg School of Business Management where an India Business development conference was organized. Kamal Nath, commerce minister of India was invited as a key note speaker.

Nath was reported by eyewitnesses as involved in leading the killer mobs at Rakab Ganj gurdwara in Delhi in November 1984 where the gurdwara was set to fire by the miscreants in his presence and Sikhs were burnt alive.

Nath was reported as “controlling the crowd.” He has been through various inquiry commissions. In a very short notice, more than 50 Chicago Sikhs showed up to demonstrate with placards, flyers (copy attached) were distributed to students and passersby. The purpose was to educate the university management, conference organizers, university students, and the public in general about the crimes against humanity committed by Nath.

“The university will think twice before inviting people like Nath again. Such demonstrations should follow him wherever he is invited to speak.,” said one of the organizers
