Oops, lol

The examination of a problem and the creation of its solution. Systems analysis is effective when all sides of the problem are reviewed. Systems design is most effective when more than one solution can be proposed. The plans for the care and feeding of a new system are as important as the problems they solve.

OR...

A process of defining the hardware and software architecture, components, modules, interfaces, and data for a system to satisfy specified requirements. It also includes requirements analysis, system design, implementation, documentation, and quality assurance.

It may help to understand SAD in more common terms.

Basically an organisation will be made up of various processes that take place for it to achieve its objective. Say a retail distributor that has to purchase (and perhaps design) stock. Distribute it to outlets and ensure these outlets have enough stock to meet demands.

What SAD would do is look at the workings of the processes that take place for this to happen. It will then design a computer based system that should in theory make these processes more streamlined and automated. This would be done using technology such as databases, networks or whatever else fits into the organisations needs.

This is sometimes not as easy as it seems. If you look at the history of the NHS's attempts to adopt ICT in this way, their analysis has often been flawed and resulted in millions of pounds being wasted with systems that do not achieve their purpose. Good systems analysis should encompass "future proofing" any proposed system so it can adapt to unforeseen growth/expansion.

So simply talking, SAD would involve analysing an existing system (to identify core processes). Identifying areas which could be improved. DESIGNING a new system to cope with it all and finally implementing (or "rolling out") the new system in an organisation. This would probably be done in stages throughout an organisation (i.e. you would first implement a new system in a smaller section of an organisation with a pilot scheme). The advantage being that this will allow for real life testing and modification (before a potentially expensive organisation wide implementation).

Does this make any sense?

waheguru jee ka khalsa waheguru jee kee fateh,

In simple terms if you understand it,, just take an example of making a simple software.... u would first need to identify the problem or why a software is actually required, is it to solve a problem or is it to improve on some process or make work more easier,, u do a feasibility study on whether the actual software is required and if developed would it be useful, if the answer is yes then you try to understand the scope of the application like who will be using the software, what problems do they face now without the software, what features and functionalities would be required, you outline all the things, prepare diagrams and database and then start developing the code,, later on u test it, implement it, get feedbacks from the users and improve on it,, so its like a cycle..... more like dalsingh veerjee said!!

might sound to be nerd but that should be what you look at in small terms in SAD-- system application and development....

this is part of SDLC-- system development life cycle... which they probably define in different stages..
