What would I do?

This is what I did after reading the message:

*Cheers out loud.*

*Lifts his thigh to waist-high. Raises his hands into the air, with the index finger pointing towards the sky. Starts jumping.*

*Looks at ba.com for the cheapest (what can I do- I'm Indian!) ticket to London!*

Oh just take a chill pill. It's a Ramgharia hall right - it's not a SIKH hall is it?

Why the double standards - when we're discuss caste- we jump to the gun and say "those who call themselves Ramdharias, jatts aint Sikhs" - so why we getting all fussed upp about this?

Take a deep breath and listen to some soothing simran. It will help.

this has been happening for several years now in many towns..because we don't have the collective kamai to deal with these issues, we constantly fall flat on our faces when it comes to standing up for sikhi...presently the singhs are full of agendas and glory hunting that we no longer understand why we are here.

if we passionately feel this is wrong then we should be able to simply sit outside the ramgharia hall with a tabla and vaja and sing shabads to guide those people about what vasakhi's really about for a sikh. if we have the kamai and persona people will listen and be inspired. at the moment we struggle to inspire our own brothers.

beg guru ji for a jevaan to stand up for sikhi, don't expect to engage in a confrontion with a kacha jeevan because no one will want to listen.

As OhTwadi Veer ji rightly pointed out - Vaisakhi isn't an exclusively SIKH festival. It IS indeed celebrated by Hindu - NOT because of Dasmesh Pita ji founding the Khalsa- but because of the fact that the the festival has roots goign much prior to Sikhism, which is indeed related to the farming land of the Punjabis.

There is thus nothing wrong with having a laugh at Vaisakhi. Yes it is EXTREMELY important for (esp pious) Sikhs to remember the Guru; sing the words of the Guru; sing his praises on this great day. But lets not get too excited at other people wanting to celebrate it in a way which is different to ours.

Unity through diversity.

Don't judge. Love.
