Seems like the Hindu groups in Bombay do not like North Indians. Not sure if North Indians is a cover for Sikhs and Muslims as taxi drivers have been attacked. The Samajwadi Party attacked by Shiv sena has a lot of support of minorities.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray's recent outburst against Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan's loyalty towards his native place (Uttar Pradesh) has raised several eyebrows. While it drew strong retaliation by Jaya Bachchan and Amar Singh, many objected to Thackeray's opposition to the celebration of Uttar Bharatiya Diwas and Chhath Puja in Maharashtra. Barely a day after clashes between supporters of Raj Thackeray and Samajwadi Party workers in Mumbai, two unidentified youths threw bottles at Bachchans’ residence in Mumbai.

MNS activists also took to streets and attacked taxi drivers, reportedly belonging to north Indian community. On Sunday, taking exception to Raj's advice that non-Maharashtrians should shout the slogan Jai Maharashtra , Railway Minister Lalu Yadav said people should instead say Jai Bharat . The recent developments have revived the question whether those living in metropolis have a right to target migrants from other states. Not long ago, actor-turned-politician Hema Malini drew criticism over her remarks against north Indian migrants in Maharashtra. Is it high time that as a Social Secular Democratic Republic, we rose against regionalism and learn to treat all as Indians? Write in with your views .

Raj Thackeray has gone nuts. He is frustrated because of no substantial public support and is now using this dumb trump card of "Marathism". Don't worry about Sikhs as his main targets are people of U.P. and Bihar, and north Indian in this news piece is referring to people from U.P. Even Amitabh Bachhan's house was attacked. Indian politicians are already worried about retards like him who are bent on destroying the country's fabric.

However, I can understand the problem as bhaiyas have wrecked Punjab as well, but come on, its not like we're beating them up and asking them to leave, which is what is happening in Mumbai.

notice the media bias, it is interesting to the note the use of the word "activist" whereas Sikhs often get labeled extremists or terrorists and at best ultras.
