I've deleted a track and its not in the recyling bin.. I NEED to recover it?.. is there any free software out there which will let me do this (pc)

yeah, try a system restore on ur pc

System restore does not do data i dont think. U need some undelete software and then install the software on a usb or something like that. If u install the software on your hard drive (same drive as u delted track from) your recovery chances are drmatically reduced

You want to go through so much hassle for just a track? Isn't it easier to just re-download it? Although, it's possible to recover it.

i dont know why i put track!. lol.. its actually data!;

1. word

2. powerpoint

-Is this data yours?

-Can you recover it by other means, perhpas a backup elsewhere?

-Would you want to go through data recovery procedures to get back this data if chances are there? -- Rather frustrating for many people...

-What are the chances that where you have mistakenly deleted this data, you have replaced that area with other files since the deletion of it.

-Are you willing to invest time and be patient to get back data IF possible? If not, promise you won't go crazy... -_-

usually when your working on ms office files it saves temporary files so often. did you try doing a search for recent .doc or .ppt/.pps files. They will have a different name (a temporary file name) but if you have some recent word or powerpoint documents that show up on your search results chances are it could be the files that you deleted before they were last saved. Sometimes they won't show up in the search, but if you browse the temporary folders they might be in there.

There's data recovery software but I don't know of any freeware. Someone delete all sorts of pictures of my bro-in-laws hardrive and he couldn't retrieve them. He tried some software that he downloaded for like $20 and it recovered all of them.

If the files were recently deleted then you should be able to recover them. I think Dr. C statement is incorrect. As long as you have free space on your hardrive and haven't saved a bunch of things since that and used up the space that the files were taking then you should be able to retrieve it with the right software. Sorry I know that's confusing but it's the only way I know how to explain it. You can also take it to a pc repair shop that does data recovery but they will charge at a rate of something like $60/hour.
