when a woman menstruates she does not know exactly when she is due and so to avoid embarrassing outcomes it is best for a woman to refrain partaking in duties where she is in charge of being a granthi or something. It's just common sense... there is no ritual or law against women having equal rights to do maharaja's sewa its just womens bodies are different so they need to take more care.

Here is an incident I recall while at college there was this muslim girl at class and she was on her periods you could see she was on because her white shalwaar turned a bit red...now say if she was a sikh lady and in gurdwara being maharaja sewa and this thing happened it would be more than embarrassing not only would the woman lose dignity but it could endanger the sanctity of maharajah ji. So women need to have some common sense and rational thought process when dealing about these issues.

Also, I don't know if you have ever experienced one, but a period is notlike tap that gets switched on and flows like there is no tomorrow, its a slow process, not a gush of blood that comes out all at once. Most women have rough idea of when their period is expected and 'sort themselves out' in advance. At least every women I know has

Sant Ji says that this is the reason why 5 pyaareh seva is for men. Not because this seva is "meant for men."

Its up to any bibi whether they think that they can do maharaja's seva I don't think anyone has the right to tell her if she can or not.

when women come on, they can come on at anytime in the day. soon as that happens, they got to go n sort it out before doing anything else. so, if woman was on tabya, and was gona come on that day, and they were on rol (tabiya), whats she gona say to her guru? ''o hang on a minute, i gota sort myself out ill be right bak..''??????

Not to be explicit but that comment can also go towards people who have to use the bathroom while doing tabiya. They can feel the pressure to go to the bathroom at any time. So does that mean we all shouldn't do seva? I'm sorry but this point didn't really make sense to me. A woman can prepare herself if she has to do seva. She can wear proper protection before doing rol. When I am on my period I don't feel "unclean" in any way. A Bibi can do kesi ishnaan and make sure that no accident will happen before she goes for rol. I guess it all just comes down to personal sharda. I personally think that it should be a woman's decision. Not anyone else's decision. Guru Sahib did not prohibit us from doing seva therefore no one else should try to also. I do not think menstruation causes any problem to suchamta unless the woman goes unprepared. Usually women know around what time their period will come. I know that I need to be fully prepared. Especially if I am doing seva. These kind of issues shouldn't become a do or don't issue. We argue a lot of about do's and donts. Why not just go according to personal sharda?

secondly, no one can make sure an acident doesnt happen. its an accident cuz u dint no it was commin by definition.

3rdly, its not prohibited to do seva. its best to not to do the seva if ur on cycle. however, my personal take on it, is that, >if< u can make sure and totally certain that secretions will not fall out of ur body, and that u can concentrate at your normal level and not get distracted by these things, then no prob.. bt thas jus mee..

and jus for a 'heads up' re: good info, the eyes are the closestto the top of head. the lower u go, the less and less sucha each of the 9 doors are... this is for a reason too..

and i was going to write (and probably shud have wrote) that, yes, 5 singhs got up thas the simplest base reason, but there are more reasons than this.. bibya could hav gotton up just as easy.. letters were sent to all. men and women.. (hence pahul is for all) kids and women could hav gotton up just as easy. we all know the state of out kaum in the time of our gurus.. a joshi sama. ( a nice one ) this is off topic.. and most prob been discussed elsewhere in this forum.

He then blessed the woman and cut off the shackles of her transmigration. Next day the Sikhs prepared dainty dishes with great attention to cleanliness and offered them to the Guru at the same hour. He laughed and said,"O Sikhs, I ate food from that woman's hands because she was holy. This food which you have prepared with attention to ancient ceremonial is not pleasing to me." The Sikhs asked,"O true king, yesterday you ate bread on horseback from the hands of an old woman whom you did not know. There was no consecrated space and the food was in every way impure. Today we have prepared the food for you; no impurity is attached to it, yet you reject it. Be kind enough to explain the reason." The Guru replied," The woman with great devotion and faith prepared food for me out of what she had earned from the sweat of her brow. On this account the food was very pure, and I partook of it. The Guru is hungry for love and not for dainty dishes. In the matter of love for God, no rule is recognized. It is not what man eats that pleases God, it is man's devotion that is acceptable to Him."
