1stly take the time out to do Aardas stating that you are thankful to mahraj for letting you live one more day especially on your birthday to jaap naam. You could do a Sukhmani Sahib Paath and maybe have a Kirtan Darbar and tell all your mates to come Or you could like do 10 Japjis Sahibs with all your mates together.

if its ur kids bday, take him or her to the gdwara do ardaas, and then invite a few his/her friends cut a cake and take them to the cinema.

Ide say go gurdwara in the morning, do ardaas, come back, invite people over, cut a cake. Then in the afternoon Sukhmani Sahib and then kirtan till midnight, even longer if you want
