yaar khan a muslim sikh of guru gobind singh sahib ji came to guru sahib and asked this question .... guru sahib gave him answer .... and while sharing with you i will try my best to give my full resepect to hazzrat muhhamad sahib ....its a very long sakhi but i will keep it short ....

hazzrat muhhamad sahib had given divorce to her wife and after few years muhhmad sahib had relations with there that divorced wife again .... after this there wife told them what ever he has done is wrong now as she was not his wife and he has done a sin .... she told muhhamad sahib that ucall ur self prophet of god and what has he done .... this made muhhamad sahib think .... and he told that lady to punish him .... and he is ready to take any punishment being the prophet of god .... there divorced wife told them to cut there gupt ang ... on which muhhmad sahib told her that this way he will die give her some other sort of punishment which he will remember till he live .... so this is how sunat started in muslims ....

then allha/akalpurkh did akash wanni and told muhhamad sahib that punishment was from the lady and the punishment from god is that he should shave his head and cut all the hairs from his body .....

this thing hazzrat muhhamad sahib quoted in quran that god told him to do so .....

this sakhi was told by dasmesh pita to yaar khan its in suraj parkash granth ....

sunat and haircut both were the punishments yet muslims follow it beacuse its hukam of there prophet .... what bout sikhs ....

Jassa veer, I beg to differ.

Sunnat aka circumcision started with Prophet Abraham/Hazrat Ibrahim for muslim and Avram for Jewish. If you read his story then you will know why 'sunnat' began.

In any case even amongst muslims (this i learnt recently) all those who fight Jehad/so-called Holy war are allowed to grow their hair and moustache unlike ordinary non-jehadi muslims.
