daas was just wondering what Manglacharan is and what it means; and when does one read it? daas remembers searching on the internet on how to do take a hukamnama from Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaaj and upon doing so, daas found the www.BCSikhYouth.ca site and it said that Baba Harnam Singh Ji Kherasahib wale said the proper way to take hukamnama was to either read manglacharan (Which would bring a more "accurate" hukamnama) or by reading Mool Mantr. Could sangat please enlighten daas on what Manglacharan means and what is "considered" to be Manglacharan. Thank you

Manglacharan in Gurbani appears at the beginning of every Bani. There are different types of Mangals. Mangals are written in reverence of Waheguru. Baba Harnaam Singh Ji referred to "Ikoangkar Satnam.....Gur Parsad" as Manglacharan and up to "Nanak Hosi Bhi Sach" as Mool Mantar. Other Mangals are:

1) Ik Oangkar Satgur Parsad

2) Ik Oangkar Satnam Gur Parsad etc

Hindu writers revere their teachers, gods or goddesses in their mangals. Many Ragis before starting Kirtan sing Manglacharan. Keep in mind that Manglacharans are always read, sung or written at the beginning and never at the end. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh
