OK but say you are a member of the RSS at the same time? Believing in the Gurus and being a Sikh are two different things; it doesn't take much for someone to believe in the guru's there's loads of proof of their existence; but really believing in the Gurus and what they taught is different; by the Gurus teachings I dont think that you can be a Hindu and a Sikh at the same time... What if you are a Hindu but are only voting because you are a close friend of a member of a Party or you may be payed to vote? How many Sikhs do you know take part in Hindu Mandir or Islamic Mosque's Politics?

QUOTE(Punjab1701 @ Oct 3 2006, 01:27 PM)

"I am extreamly shocked to hear fellow brothers and sisters saying that hindus should not be allowed to vote in gurudwara elections.

Basically 2 points, firstly the sikh relegion originated from Hinduism and Guru Teg Bahadur gave his life to save the Hindu and Sikh religion.

Secondely, it says numersous times in the guru granth sahib that the gurdwara doors are open to everyone, and when becoming a member of the gurudwara you actually state that you belive in the gurus."

I agree with Militant Singh Ji we need a change and we need it fast but we cant make any changes 'diplomaticly' we have to take action.

The Lion group should hang their heads in shame. How can these people

claim to call themselves Gur Sikhs when they bought non sikhs into the

gurudwara for the sole purpose of carrying out the violent threats against

anyone who dared oppose their views? Malhi can pose in photo's with his hands

joined but this self procailmed 'leader' (as he was shouting during the

course of the day) brings three black bouncers to escort him in the Gurudwara.

Is this scoundral sane?

The lion party did not stop there. Security staff from Monsoon were

all paid to stand in the gurudwara for the duration of the election. Can someone

please tell Malhi that the Gurudwara is not a night club. He may view himself as

a mafia godfather but bringing bouncers into the Guru Ghar is not the behaviour

of a true Gur Sikh. Anyone who believes in Waheguru should not need feel the

need to request a personal entrouge in the form of paid assasins. The lion group

invited MUSLIMS thugs, yes Muslim men who are known 'gang members', into

the Gurudwara. Would a non-muslim ever be allowed to step foot into a mosque?

The comtempt for Sikh values displayed by the Lion group is shocking.

Was this an early indication of a sign of things to come under this new

regime? Thankfully the Hukam of the sangat was to reject this lynch mob's

attempt at gaining power and the current commitee emerged victorious.

Throughout the day supporters of the lion group behaved like football

holigans. Jeering people who came to vote, hurling abuse at baaj group

candidates, amassing in crowds near the entrance of the voting

marquee, attempting to en masse disrupt election proceedings and goading police

officers (who had to be called to prevent the threat from lion supporters of causing

a riot).

Never before has the Sangat been subjected to these intimadation tactics. Elections

have always been conducted but in a friendly atmosphere. Whoever the opposing

groups have been, there has always been banter between rival supporters but all in

an air of calm. The atmosphere on Sunday was simmering due to the tactics

employed by the lion group. Sadly had it not been for the increasing police presence,

the Gurudwara would have again been in the scene of premeditated BEADABI.

Will Malhi, Harpal Brar or any of the 21 candidates be seen in the Gurudwara again?

Highly unlikely. Worms like Sohan Singh Bains et al only surface every two years

when elections loom. These people request Sewa but dass would question if these

Singhs even know the meaning of the word.

The Sikh religion is a beautiful faith with a progressive outlook. Only by partaking in

healthy debate can we preserve these ideals. Discussion on issues which affect all

Sikhs should be encouraged and accomadated. Only when this generation, who are

obsessed with personal politics, evaluate their actions and the effect these have on

the image of modern Sikhs can we begin to think of the KAUM.

In the sanctity of the Guru Granth Sahib all Singhs need to stand shoulder to

shoulder in the name of Waheguru. It is worrying the lengths to which people from

our own faith will stoop to in attempt to prevent unity amonghst Sikhs.

If hindus want to vote in sikh affairs then they should first become a sikh.

IF we let hindus vote then hindus can flood the votes in. They shudnt have a say in sikh affairs.

i cant believe we even discussing this. 300 friggin hindu votes were put in this election. 300 votes are enough to swing an election.

but ofcourse baaj party love their hindu voters so much........ and they will never ban hindu votes....... so i guess the sikhs of southall suffer another defeat.... we lose again. blah

what have these people done for us?

getting people arrested (youths),

not allowing sewa do be done without permission,

holding rss bhajans (ramdev),

invting rapists down for programmes (baba maan singh)

another 2 year term of this bulllll shhhh now.

Daku, I couldnt agree more your post explains exactly and truthfully what events unfolded on election day. We are blessed that the slander and premeditated attempts by the lion group members, did not , with the gurus grace allow the instrumental self proclaimed leader MALI to gain control and fufil his EGO AND PRIDE.

I admit that from my observations on election day that both parties had outside individuals present as relevant party supporters. Whether these individuals have tarnished pasts is uncomprehensivly irrelevant. Members of the sangat and public should be allowed to vote on the party of their choice regardless of their day to day living. However let us clearly agree it was MAHI who funded single handlely this campaign through propaganda and finance. Lion group member were the ones causing all disruptions intimidating the sangat, Mali who invited black security guards ( with lion group tshirts! ) to personally escort him about, and with regards to the MUSLIM GANGSTAS ON SITE again these indiviuals who were seen mixing with AFGANISTANI and IRAQI members of MALIS monsoon security. I am sure these unfortuante indivuals regardless of their cash in hand bonuses where aware that this wasnt another one of Malis strip joints or brothels, it was the local SIKH TEMPLE usually a place of peace and tranquility.

To argue about circumstanial facts with regards to hindu voters is totally petty, sad, unsubstantiated and biased. Their were im sure a few minor discreprencies in terms of voting concerning both parties but not to the extent of which this would effect the overall vote and effect the genuine sangat members. These claims of vote rigging are totally unfounded and a bitter aftermath of selfpity, jealousy and childhisness.

Also to all my learnered friends and co, as highlighted above it is wrong of us to criticise the majority of supporters of both parties who turned out on election day, they were simply their to vote. However if we are to compare the objectives, policies ,manifestos , egos and history of the the two individuals Mali an Himmat; this would firstly be an insult to the sikh koum and secondly an insult to the sangat. It would be eqivilent to us comparing a Skoda to Rolls Royce, a 3 legged donkey to a thoroughbred stallion, good versus evil. Jokes aside it would be a crime for the sangat to vote in a individual of MALIS caliber for leadership, did the late Benny Hill run for government or could you imagine Mr Bean as the next labour leader :T: .

Mr Mali, his actions and underhanded tactics unfortunelty for him reflected his true self,i hope he learns from this and sticks to doing what he does doing best...

An old proverb.....GRACIOUS IN DEFEAT :TH: ......please my friends take note.

May the Guru bless us all.

ps. it is really sad to see from outside the box how all negative post about Himmat and the Baag party, regardless of opinion sound so harsh, personal and innnittt boss u get me im a shee member blud respect you gona get it bruvv, watch watch...lol please people lets maintain a level of decorum and sensibility to all this. Guru Ji would not allow the sangat to have so much faith in Himmat and his party for no reason..open your eyes!

I'm sorry but speaking with decorum doesn't hide the truth on matters; defeat is not even relevant anymore; it's too late for democratic voting systems which are about as corrupt as voting systems in 'bharat mahan' whats the point in arguing over it? BOTH the parties are as bad as eachother whether Sohi wins or Mali- its doesnt matter - facts and witnesses show that the current party is getting the sangat nowhere there needs to be a change for the BETTER i'm sure 'true Khalsa' ji has heard of this word before- and must realise that there is no betterment of the Sangat under Sohi while his party is in power; the only betterment applies to Sohi himself

If Sohi wants Hindus to vote, he should go and run the mandir.

The election was blantenetly rigged. I personally know of cases where the person wasn't allowed to vote becasue someone already had voted with their ballot. hmmm?? it seems sohis party were dishing out fake ID cards to random ppl to get more votes. There should be and independent inquiry on these people, only then will people the the true fallacy of these so called 'sikhs'. They are all a shame!!

Justice will prevail, one day these people will face the consequences for their actions be it this life or the next. But by then it will be too late to repent.

Sorry Veerjii but is this answer your idea of decorum and being of an educated mind? Yes I may be young but if you hadn't noticed the purpose of this site is for sikh youths to speak their mind if you cant handle that then maybe you should go elsewhere- and being young does not make me stupid, i have eyes and ears of my own and i have the same rights as you do to make my views known...Without profanities and rudeness d_oh.gif

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
