Sri Guru Singh Sahib Gurdwara Southall Elections Latest

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Just for an update to the Sangat the GENERAL BODY of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Southall (Park Avenue & Havelock Road) is on Sunday 24th September 2006 & the ELECTIONS are on Sunday 1st October 2006.

Sunday 24th September 2006 - General Body (Open Meeting for Sadh Sangat)

Sunday 1st October 2006 - Elections

Please could somebody update on whats happening with the Panthic Membership Block?

By Daas's view and to what Daas has heard it would be better that rather than not voting at all or re-electing Himmat Sohi, give the opposition party (G. S. Malhi) a chance, who have promised to re-start Panthic programmes etc etc.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Remember ANYTHING is better than re-electing the current committee (himmat sohi) or letting them win by just sitting on our backsides and doing nothing about it!!!

I completly agree with you, we must get rid of Sohi. Its to late to become a member, so so unless you are a member you cant vote. Encourage those who you know to have a membership to vote against Sohi!

Does the Mali person have a past record better than that of Sohi's?

In your reply, if anyone does wish to reply.could they concentrate on the advantages of voting for Mali as opposed to the disadvantages of voting for Sohi.

is this mahli ------ the one who owns MONSOON Banquiting suite????

good principals for the latest candidate for pardaaan!!!!!

their both as bad as each other!

all the committee mans are the same ----- they all want "choddar" - nothing else matters to them!

Ok some clarification here. i did confront Mr Malhi and asked this directly about if he owns the Monsoon banqueting suite or not.

Mr Malhi owns GB Windows (A double glazing company) in southall, and his brother Bajit owns Monsoon. Baljit is not into the Gurudwara elections.

Mr Malhi uses the offices at both GB Windows and Monsoon banqueting suite.

All i can say is that we have seen the current committee and their doings. They have been there for over 10 years, and I havent seen anything that they have done for the community/religion/or Gurudwara. Yes the havelock road gurudwara was built but there is huge ? on the funds spent etc.

Better the devil you know!

Sometimes the new party are worse than the old. We've seen this happen in other Gurdwaras. Don't vote for someone just for change!

I'm not a fan of Malhi or Sohi, I have had dealings with both. Unfortunatly, both parties are jokers in my view and have their own agendas. Malhi does indirectly own the Mansoon club.

Gurdwara elections bring out the worst in our Kaum! It's the worst time of the year in any Gurdwara.

One advantage of Mali, we will be able to smash his windows if he does anything wrong. He owns a double glazing company so he has a lot of windows to lose. lol

so there is nothing 'good' about Mali or at least he is no better than Sohi.... so vote for whoever you feel like...even if that's Sohi,

well the whole reason for vote is that you are independent of who you vote. Although my concern will be about the commitee who allow a permit to do all the stuff included in the attachement.

Admin/Moderators: Just recorded this from Akash Radio news. Hope you wont have any objection against it

I take my words backs. Looks like there is no choice with the opposition, but after what Sohi has done over the last few years he definetly does not deserve to be running any Guru Ghars.

Unfortunatly, Malhi might have to be the next contender. Under no circumstances should Sohi be allowed carry on anymore!

There has been so much said on other threads about the forth coming Singh Sabha Gurudwara elections in Southall that I thought I would help clarify who's who! I have just seen an opposition election manifesto and I have been very pleased to learn Kesar Singh Mand is standing for the Sher Party, this guy is very Panthic and he knew Sant Bhindranwale! If you want to support the 84 vibe vote for Mands group, he is a man of his word and a true Khalistani. If he was tight with Sant Ji we should support him! So I appeal to everyone who respects Sant Ji vote for Mands group!

Also all this rubbish about Gurmail Singh Mali and him owning a club...........so what! He isnt forcing any of our youth to smoke or drink, its their choice. I think this issue shouldnt matter, the main thing is he is a Khalsistani and is totally against the Indian government. So wake up and stop bickering about clubs and drink and lets get behind these guys! Theres a picture of Mali and Pal Brar in the centre of their manifesto, I havent met Brar but I know he runs the Sikh missionary society in Southall. The Sher party will join the sangat with Sri Akal Takhat and stand up for the panthic agenda. Khalistan Zindabad! Sher party Zindabad!

Finally we will have a voice in the U.K that will not entertain the Indian government or anti panthic forces!

I have not an iota of faith in such a person who's officers have relinquished the path of truth!

Hi all i got to say is i have met all the above and most of the party member, hence why i am supporting them. I would urge the member of the election to support the sher party do to the facts and changes that this party will bring.

if you look at the poster of the sher party, on the back side is the important meeting taking place on the 24/9/06 about notices that have been changed without consulting the member of the gurdwara. i will scan this in but as i got the 12 size poster its gona be hard.

I know Mr Mand personally and i know he listens to everything the youth has to say as i do know youth do give him some advise of the youths point of views.

Lets hope we can change the way the system of the gurdwara works so please vote Sher Party, if you wana see some changes. If you got concerns about anything please do pm or email me and ill try n find out for you.

Basically Mr Mand was a jorutnalist at the time of the 84 bluestar attacks on the golden temple. I'm not sure if you have seen the video or not, is when Mr Mand is interviewing Sant Bhindranwale at the time of the attacks

There has been so much said on other threads about the forth coming Singh Sabha Gurudwara elections that I thought I would help clarify who's who! Firstly everyone knows Sohi & co saved the Gurdwara from recievership and cleared the debts - fair enough no one is disputing that. But what has he done for the panth? What has he said about 84? As far as I know.......NOTHING! I have just seen an opposition election manifesto and I have been very pleased to learn Kesar Singh Mand is standing in the opposition, this guy is very Panthic and he new Sant Bhindranwale! Keasr Singh Mand is a journalist I think, not sure about his stand on Khalistan, can anyone clarify!

G13RPS u seem to be a person with a bit of knowledge on this do u think Mand, Mali , Brar etc will definately be against India and pro Khalistan? Last thing we want is that they pretend to represent the kaum and later we find out they been supporting India all along!

Admin Note: A quick friendly note to all members: Do not use this forum to spam and to gather votes for your fav. parties/leaders. Discuss what are their platforms instead of shouting "This party Zindabad" "Vote for him" etc.

All i can say they are true khalistans. Yes the party will make changes and am will defo listen to the ppl and youth. Put it this way this party will not be going every mondays out the the india consultate from ere as did mr soni. there are a lot of issues that ppl or singhs dont know and i hope the party will outline there interest.

One change, Marriages will come down to £251 not the £1000 pound that are currently in place. I wanted my wedding at this Gurdwara as i been goin to singh sabha since i was small but i didnt to pay 1000 just for the gurdwara, cause i think not everyone could afford it i could but didnt wana cause i thinkit silly asking so much.

what will be done to promote the akal takhats authority by the sher group if they get in?

will the Sikh missionary and the Gurdwara work more closely together as Pal Brar runs it?

and what role will Kesar Mand be doing, surely he must qualify to be a future pardhan?

better still who will be pardhan if sher party win?

8)We will provide well educated scholars who will teach Sikhi history and religion to our children.

10) We will provide free legal advice for all legal matters.

Mr Himmit singh Sohi's Manifesto.

1) Build and start Khalsa school by 2008.

2)Guide and help other Singh Sabhas to obtain permissions for opening of at least 4 other Khalsa Schools in UK.

3)Standardise the teaching material on Sikhism for all UK schools.

4)Build new sports facilities.

5)Establish day care for elderly

6)Start scholarship to award bursaries for sikh students to further sikh studies.

8)Establish Khalsa Bank/Building Society

9) Work closely with various Sikh organisations of UK and India.

10)Work closely with other faith institutions to further develop good interfaith relations.

Hmm someone should ask Mr Sohi how most of his agenda actually benifits the majority of the Sikh Sanagat, and Sikhi in general. By the look of his manifesto he plans on running the gurudwara more like a business. At least Mr Malhi is pledging to help the majority of the sangat in several ways. Hes even promised not to stay in power for moer than 4 years, i can see why Sohi hates the thought of this since hes been in power for over 12 years. Just out of curiosity how long does someone need to be in power before they become a (Power and money hungry) dictator??

You are right, although Malhi cant stand for election personally due to a court order, he is teh one leading the party. On their manifesto MALHI's picture is in teh centre.

    • What was their run in over? A lot of the ISYF guys are khalistan lifers bro, sure some were snakes, but a lot still haven't turned their backs on it. Bains idk, he was briefly giving Badal a chance but cut him out very quick. I'd say he went neutral, rather pro-govt. Chauhan, Sohan and all them, still trying to learn more about them.  Very true. If they willed, they could set up Punjab, but why would they? I wouldn't be surprised if the fed govt already is waiting for agriculture to fail, and have a back up planned. They're too smart to remain dependant on Sikhs/Punjab.
    • It sounds like you have issues with your situation that are being played out vicariously through your daughter.. The issue seems to be one between you and your relationship with your husband.. I think in this situation and to make sense of it,  it is worth disregarding the fact you are both amritdhari. You start by saying he is a angry man, and that you to get angry.. You also say that your daughter gets a lot of love.. It sounds very much like you feel that you have no control over your environment and are a passive player.. And hence the one thing you do have immutable influence over ie. Your daughter has become the battle ground...  Fundamentally it sounds like you're husband is not fulfilling his duties by raising his hand to your dastar he has committed a heinous act of violence..  You don't actually say anything bad about your mother in law so whilst she is not reprimanding your husband may be she is indirectly trying to express her love via your daughter.  You have no reason to feel guilty about your actions sounds like you are frustrated and upset and that needs to be addressed.. You need to speak to people around you not just your husband but may be your mother in law.. And share with her your feelings of powerlessness..  You may already have done some of these things but reading between the lines of what you have written fundamentally it seems like you are unhappy with your husbands behaviour..  Please forgive me if I have misunderstood  Good luck sister  SSA
    • If you ask me, it's a declaration of war for someone to be pulling a Dastar, I wouldn't ever even tell Non-Sikhs to take off their religious objects; however, an Amritdhari telling another Amritdhari not to wear Dastar is what I'd consider an impossible situation. If you agree with the husband's actions, (which you said previously you don't), then I'd understand where you are coming from.   You seem to have some idealised worldview where every old person is some Mahapurukh, reality-check that's not the case at all, you may be blessed to have a Mahapurukh family, or you may not, the key is each individual case is different, if I heard that any of my female relatives were being insulted openly by some of their in-laws, I'd recommend the same. I haven't insulted any line of any shabad or your interpretation of the Shabad; however, you have to read the entire Shabad to grasp the full-meaning. But even what you are referring to is qualities of ancestors, not the ancestors themselves. Never claimed that. . They were Sikh sakhis, Modern Hinduism was only made when the Indo-Aryans and the Dravidians conquered the Adivasi population. Sikhi has existed since beginning of time. For the sake of keeping the topic at hand relevant, and since I respect you enough not to argue on something like this, I won't discuss more on whether the Sakhis are Hindu or Sikh. Ajamal was a Sikh, and the purpose of the Sakhi is to tell future Sikhs not to be going to prostitutes like Ganika. Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji even prevented from whom if I remember correctly Bhai Joga Singh from going to prostitutes. (If this wrong, you have every right to correct me). Never did and Hopefully with his grace, never will.
    • Well, if it's impossible, sure. But note that the the impossibility stems from krodh (anger) and haumai (ego) all around. Yet the same anger and ego that makes it impossible for a nuclear family to live with dadi also makes it impossible for husband and wife to live together, and then when the wife splits off, for the children to live with the mother and they will want to be legally emancipated because it's "impossbile". What we end up with is simply the same thing as the 21st century Leftist West: Do whatever you want to do. Which is another name for manmat: Doing what your mann wants. Seriously, bro? The tuk is Guru Sahib's, not mine. You are effectively questioning Gurbani. In any case, the point is not necessarily dadi recounting "we used to idol-worship Shiva back in the day", but all manner of things that your ancestors did: Some examples: how we cultivated the jungle region of Pakistan, the pain of partition, how people used to live simply, how we lost our business due to inability to pay back a loan and we had to struggle for 2 decades to get back on our feet,  how your grandfather's brother was born genetically deformed and how he had to help him all his life, how the servant was so poor she could not marry her daughter so we helped her out, etc, etc. Bro, dharam is not the same thing as getting up and doing Japji Sahib and wearing 5 kakkars (though that's required for us indeed). Dharam is not something that didn't exist before Guru Nanak Dev ji, and just came into existence when Guru Sahib was born, or started parchar. Dharam is something greater, and older. Read this tuk: ਸੁਣਿ ਸਾਖੀ ਮਨ ਜਪਿ ਪਿਆਰ ॥ Listen to the stories of the devotees, O my mind, and meditate with love. Why did Guru Sahib tell us to remember his sakhI? Please answer these two questions. Don't doubt Guru Sahib. He is Satguru, we are followers. Note for Hinduphobes: If you read the entire shabad, Guru Arjan Dev ji lists all the "Hindu" personalities that we should remember, but at the very end says Guru Nanak Dev ji is the very form of God. Meaning that the Avatars (Ram Chander, Krishan Bhagvan, etc.) had some level of powers from God, but they were not God. Not so for Guru Nanak Dev ji.
