Why are there soo many different religions in da world? I've heard dat all religions are equal and there's onli one god. But then if das tru, then why are there all these different religions? And if dat was true, well then you could pick any religion and follow it, cuz all religions are equal riight?..but i don't get it, cuz like i know dat christians say that jesus is the only way to heaven, but then in sikhi duznt it say dat all religions are equal..what was the purpose of god to make so many different religions if he wanted us to have faith in him and go to the same place..why didnt he jus make all of us sikh or christian or wtv  @

in my humble opinion... each religion has their own path to God...some 'religions' were 'created' out of conflict n what not... there are a lot of people who say religions are all man made... u'll also hear a lot of people to say Sikhi isn't a religion, rather, its a way of life... a strict disciplined way of life at that.. in Sikhi we believe this path is the easiest and the fastest way to God...

as for why there are so many religions i don't know.. and as for why God didn't make us all follow one religion, thats beyond everybody.... everythin is in Gods will.. he does as he pleases, and the only people that would know that answers to those questions are Brahm Gyanee's who, through jeevan mukti (libertion while still alive), are in constant contact with Our Lord...

in my humble opinion... shouldn't really let this affect ur way of life... the key is to choose a path and follow it with the utmost prem and sharda... these sorta questions have been asked for ages, but have never been answer... in the end these thingz are just distractions...

Sikhi is the ONLY path to Sachkhand/Vaheguru.

Guru Sahib has said in Bani that only through the Satguru can someone meet God. Bani says Satguru gives naam and through japping naam we meet Vaheguru. There is only one Satguru and that is Guru Nanak. There is no other Satguru. There is no equal of Guru Nanak.

The concept of Gurmat naam is also only in Sikhi.

The other religions do give fruit and some can take the follower very far spiritually but to get to the final destination, only Sikhi and naam is the way. Only through Gurmantar.

Followers of other religions won't be punished if they do good and live spiritually. They will get their rewards. But like I said, only Sikhi can take you all the way.

Darbar Sahib may have 4 doors, but the path is only one. Same way, anyone of any background can meet Vaheguru, but the path is only one.

WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

I dont know if this helps...ive been trying to study world faiths and in my view all the religions in the world are different interpretations of the Truth.

If you study all the world faiths you will find out how much simularities there are between them.

I mean there is some evidence that Abraham and the Hindu God Abraham is the same person. So basicly different groups interpreted things slightly differently. Some incidences in the Bible and Vedas's corespond to each other (apart from the Bible's and Vedas's have different names for these characters), again these incidents are slightly different to each other, which can be explained by:

All the scriptures in the world were written down yrs later, which shows why there are different interpretations of the truth, whereas Sikhi is the only religion which was written by the prophets themselfs.

I dont know if this helps, but this is what the Hindu Bhagavad Gita 4/7-8 has to say:

yada yada hi dharmasya

glanir bhavati bharata

abhyutthanam adharmasya

tadatmanam srjamy aham

SYNONYMS

yada--whenever; yada--wherever; hi--certainly; dharmasya--of religion; glanih--discrepancies; bhavati--manifested, becomes; bharata--O descendant of Bharata; abhyutthanam--predominance; adharmasya--of irreligion; tada--at that time; atmanam--self; srjami--manifest; aham--I.

TRANSLATION

Whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice, O descendant of Bharata, and a predominant rise of irreligion--at that time I descend Myself

By the way i dont know the realiability of this but ive read some articles which has shown taht the Vedas prohecised about Sikhi, Islam and Bahai.

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa!

Waehguroo jee kee Fateh!

Quite wrong actually. Like they say: all roads lead to Rome.

Guru Nanak taught that following faithfully spiritually and mentally the core values of any faith will bring you to God. Think about it, how can our Guru Granth Sahib have banis written by Muslim Fakirs and Hindu Sants if they weren't going to reach God? The difference between Sikhi and other faiths is our Gurus put a set of minimal basic teachings together without the "fluff" of religious dogma that is enherent in the other faiths that has not yet been overly polluted by time.

Waheguroo jee ka Khalsa!

Waehguroo jee kee Fateh!

"Think about it, how can our Guru Granth Sahib have banis written by Muslim Fakirs and Hindu Sants if they weren't going to reach God?"

let's analyze how "hindu" the bhagats were and how "muslim" the muslim faqirs were, who are in SGGS ji. we need to read SGGS before we make this age old sikh statement. the hindus and muslims who are in SGGS talk about Naam, Satguru, Akaal, as the gurus did. They all shared the common religion of Naam. let's have a look:

ok there are a lot mre examples, but i'm sure people won't have enough time to read all of it...SGGS talks about Naam, satguru, sangat, etc. It promotes a religion of oneness with nirankaar. It rejects fasts, rituals, pilfrimages consistently from start to finish. No where in SGGS have the hindu bhagats or the muslim faqirs promted hinduism or islam but instead have talked of their follies of idol worship and dogma. many sikhs proclaim that the sikh scripture is saying that al religions are correct, well if SGGS says that circumcision is wrong then how could islam be right since it is mandatory for a muslim to be circumcised?

read gurbaani and get away from what all the "scholars" tell you what SGGS says, read for yourselves. the reason we have people like the one who started this thread is becuase we don't read baani and get these confusing ideas on sikhi from "scholars" which make sikhi seem like a waste of time since allreligions are equal...all people are equal, all paths are not the same.

peace.

But mann_kaum_layee_kurban veerjee, that is the point I am trying to make. By what we NOW deem "hindu" and "muslim", the bhagats and sheiks in our SGGS didn't make good muslims and hindus in that they focused on naam, bani, and pyaar, and eliminated idol worship and other 'rituals'. But that is what may be considered "true" to any religion: I mean even now as we speak there are some so-called-sikhs out there who still follow many anti-panthic things like idol worship, extra gurus and stuff like that. But of course they don't represent what a "true sikh" should be.

khalsa4ever, brother, i understand what you are saying but in islam circumcision is puratan maryada for muslims carried over from the original semetic faith, judaism. SGGS promotes the religion of Naam, which is common to all mankind. some hindu bhagats, and muslim faqirs were fortunate enough to experience this Naam and that is why their baani is in SGGS ji.

Just like amrit or khande da pahul is mandatory for a Sikh, Hajj, fasting, etc is mandatory for a Muslim. These things are denounced by SGGS ji. Hindus don't have set maryada as they are a vast group of vedic traditions clumped together into a faith called hinduism.

My only suggestion is for all of us to read baani. Personally I was surprised how un-hindu the bhagats really were and how un-muslim the faqirs really were. The whole concept of shabad guru made a lot more sense.

peace, bro.
