Was Saint Kabir Ji A Bit Against Women?

Recommended Posts

Look into religious past before publiciting a thought.

Bhagats before adopting Gurmat way of life were follower of some different Mat.

For Example:

Mahalla 2 was follower of Shakta Mat,

Mahalla 3 was following Vaishnav Mat.

Similarly Kabir was following Vaishnav Sect and same with Ravidas and Namdev.

Kabir had written many verses when he was follower of vaishnavism sect.

The bani which he had written, before adopting Gurmat, is generally attributed as Kachi Bani, as philosophy is not Gurmat.

For Vaishvanism Sect, Kabir also mentioned "Sagal Janam Shivpuri Gavaya".

Many dohas of kabir which are famous; are not in Adi Granth because they are all Kacha Shalokas i.e Hymns which were written by him before adopting Gurmat.

After adopting Gurmat, Kabir had written Bani again, which is Gurbani, and is present in Adi Granth.
So if you want to predict state/stage of Kabir, then you have to follow Kabir Bani in Adi Granth; not Bijak (Which is mixture of Pakki and Kachi Bani of Kabir).

Some foolish scholars started calling Kabir anti-women blindly which is false allegation under ignorance.

Just the fact that Guru Sahibs included his Bani in the SGGS gives me utter acceptance that Bhagat ji is not against women and the person who's translated it is a cretin of the lowest kind.

You decide, Guru Ji or a mere idiotic mortal

<<what do you think guru gobind singh ji talked about in chitropakhyan>>

Just as lion has its characteristics, dog has its characteristics, infact every being has its characteristics,in the same way Guru ji described the characteristics of women. But THAT IS NOT THE TOPIC OF DISCUSSION.

I have read the Saint Kabir Ji's bani in Guru Granth Sahib Maharaj.

I only wanted to know about the bani of Saint kabir that has not been registered by Guru Ji and want to know whether its true that he termed women as a cobra and a obstacle in the path of man and god(many people have had this kind of belief).

Lets not stray away from the topic.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa

Waheguru ji ki fateh

According to Gurinder Singh Maan the Goindwal pothis and accompanying manuscripts contain a lot of Shabads with commentary by Guru Amardass Ji, that were not incorporated into the Adi Guru Granth Sahib Ji. One such Shabad of Kabir focuses on Kal-Yug where he describes a mother residing with her son and the sister with her brother. This Shabad was rejected due to it's implications of incest. Maybe we should hunt out these questionable Shabads and adopt a contextual approach i.e. see what the context beyond them is.

Personally I do not think Kabir Sahib was against woman.

He was a Bhagat of the highest order, right from the day of His birth in this Bhavsagar. I would even go a step further, He came to this plane under the Hukum of Wahiguru Akal Purukh, to awaken the souls, to the reality of Nam and Shabad, the essence of Satnam.

These Bhagats, in contraray to our manmukh behaviour, see the Jot of Wahiguru, as souls in us. They care not for the coverings or layers of filth on us, but their only purpose is to kindle the consciousness of Wahiguru´s reality in us.

Their divya drishtee is opened at all times, though they behave as they know nothing, out of their utter humility. Look at Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj, He knew right from His birth all that pain and suffering He was to go through the misbehaviour of the foolish mankind.

He was one with Akal Purukh, if He wished, He could punish all of them, with just His thought only, but nay, He said: Sachay Patshah, Tera bhanaa meetha laage .....

You see, these highly spiritually advanced souls, do not at all display any powers, they are one with the Will of Akal Purukh.

No matter how the world slanders them, and abuses them, they remain absorbed at all times in Nam Simran, and it is from there where they derive that state of silence, contenment and enduarance.... and then also, only forgiveness comes out from them.

For if they were to condem us, for our misbehaviour, then not even Wahiguru could pardon us. And as we all know, Wahiguru is an Infinite Ocean of Love and Mercy, so naturally, the Bhagats, the Gurmukhs, the Sant Janas, as being one with Wahiguru, their output can only be Love and Mercy also.

We people are foolish, we tend to take these Bhagats, these Gurmukhs as mere mortals, and as per our corruped and rusted minds, we think they are going against our preconceived distorted mental pictures of how dharam should be ... so then what do we do?

We slander them, then we abuse and torture them ... we leave no stone unturned, to inflict pain on them.

But the fact according to Gurmat is , that they are totally one with the Shabad Guru, these beings are not the body, which one day will decay like any body made out of the 5 perisahble elements. It is the Jot of Wahiguru working in them.

That is why, the Bani says:

Prabh jee baseh, sadh kee rasna.

Har jee baseh Sadh ke hirdey.

Nanak, Sadh, Prabh, bhed na paee.

Our problem is, our haume, our ego. We do not even know how to overcome our vikaars, our haume, our filthy karmas ...and we are eager to judge these Bhagat or Sant Janas.

So dear all, let us read, and listen the pure paviter Bani with full wide opened eyes and ears and get the treasure contained in it thus enriching our minds and souls, so that we may grow in spiritual maturity, and get nearer and nearer to Wahiguru, so that in the end we merge in Him, through His Naam.

Sat Sree Akal.

If woman was bad, why would God have created her?

Secondly, it is through woman we come into this world, and have the blessings of being born as humans, from their womb, to do His bhakti and achieve the goal of our lives.

Thirdly, we men are mostly beasts compared to them, we have caused more pain and sufferings then them, throughout the history.

Nobody is perfect, the mind in us, is also  very much present in them also.

If they have hypothetically got spoilt, it is because we have spoiled them, they have aquired all our bad qualities, but even then, they are far better than us, as human beings, now if we look them otherwise, it is due to our faulty outlook, distorted vison. Women are not bad or wrong, it is our vision which is faulty ....

We need to check the bani of kabir ji which has not been included in the Guru Granth Sahib ji to know the reality. His work is in the form of 2 scriptures:kabir granthalies and Bijak(completed by 2 of his disciples).

Baba Farid was a sufi saint and sikhi has differences with sufism. So only the hyms of Farid ji which were in accordance with Guru ghar were registered.Same is the case with Saint Kabir Ji and other bhagats.

Is there any bani of Kabir Ji in Guru Granth Sahib Ji in praise of women or the importanc e of women in this creation of God?I dont think so.

Someone who has read the 2 scriptures of Kabir Ji or someone who is a disciple of Kabir Ji can answer what he felt about women.

Waheguru ji ka khalsa

Waheguru ji ki fateh

Bro grow up only the bani that Guru ji has accepted in line with Gurbani Gurumat is approved , why are you trying to undermine bharosa in a bhagat of Akal Purakh , did you not think perhaps it is your own lack of understanding that caused a false impression? Maya is described as a female also perhaps shabad is deeper than you took it and he is describing Maya's enticements through Moh, Kaam etc.which corrupt the individual's mind further

Besides apart from repeating topics from a decade ago like some sly troll what can you do ?

How about you go do some naam jap instead  and save yourself and our valuable saas?

Kabir had many verses; not all of them were accepted into Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, we should focus on what Guru Sahib has given to us; and study outside; once we study Gurbani first. Start with Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, and if you need help with understanding that read Bhai Gurdas Ji Vaaran, if you understand Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, then you can read Dasam Granth or Sarbloh Granth, and if you have trouble understanding that; read some steeks, once you understand that move to Bhai Nand Lal Ghazals, and understand the message there. Outside of the 1 Guru, 2 Granths, (Dasam, and Sarbloh), and 2 keys to Gurbani, (Bhai Gurdas Vaar, and Nand Lal Ghazals), you can then move on to the outside scriptures; whether that be unaccepted Old Bhagat Bani, (before bhagti and meeting Ramanand), or some scripture from other faiths, (Bible, Quran, Gita, Torah, etc.), we should learn Gurmat first.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
