Do you think sikhs should be able to wear jewellery like khaanda necklaces, stuff on dastars like maala or khandas, anything like that?

What if the necklace attached to the khanda is pure sarb loh. And I thought the point of wearing stuuf on dumalla was to show. What If everything on the necklace is sarbloh. What if a ring is sarbloh and has khanda on it? What about ik oankar necklaces? Can we wear these?

I think Sikhs are only suppose to decorate themselves with things that are made out of Sarbloh, and not Gold, Silver etc…

Sarbloh is for warriors/Soormay/Yodhaahs/Virs, while Gold, silver is for people who don’t live like warriors like having comfortable and luxurious lives, partying, clubbing, eating a lot of fat free food.

Whats the difference betwenn wearing stuff on dumalla and wearing necklaces? On one side youre decorating your dumaala, and on the other side your decorating your body. Im a moorkh, please explain to this moorakh.

This is what I answered to this in one of my previous replies.

My opinion is that they serve as symbols and emblems to show people that you belong to the Khalsa. It’s just like how when a Sikh is in the army he has to wear the symbol of that country in which he is serving under. For example, in India Sikh soldiers wear the triple headed lion symbol on their Paghs, which is the national symbol of India. When wearing a Khanda or Chandtora, that signifies that Sikh warrior belongs to the sovereign Khalsa, of whom Guru Gobind Singh Jee is the Badshah of.

A warrior can't show his nations symbol on a neckless. This is what average, non-warrior type people do.

There is a famous saying that guru gobind singh had more shashtar on him than he had hair, it is not possible to have that much shashtar on you but its jus a saying that he had alot of shatars on him at all times. Khalistani you cant put shashtar and jewlery all in the same section. Khanda chakar and all those stuff that gursikhs decorate themselves with is not the same as jewelery is just to show we are ready for war all the time, and to show how much you have for gurus bana and shashtar.

Well said Vir Singh!!! ^_^

Also, our Dashmesh pita had many shasters on him, at all times, even in dasam granth, the utmost respect is given to shasters both combat hand to hand weaponry, along with bow and arrows, guns and bullets. Remember, Guru sahib said, without shasters, i will not give my darshan to a sikh. Sorry can't recall the exact quote, but its said in Sri Dasam Granth.

"Pritham bhagauti simar kay" meaning remembering your shaster, keep in mind the word of the 10 gurus.

Many can argue, due to the unversality of Sikhi, that shasters don't deserve the same respect as Gurbani. But Guru sahib already made it clear, that's why we have Guru Granth Sahib ji maharaj, decorated with various types of shasters all around...

My two cents
