I agree and to add on, what makes you think there is a kurehat in giving birth(only exception if your kes are removed). This is the same superstitious women look down upon thing. It is natural and a God given thing.

I agree :TH: , giving birth is natural....

but Sangat Jio I'm still confused grin.gifwacko.gif if a singhnee givz birth then shud she re take Amrit?

Sorry 4 being so daft !

Sangath Jio,

I came across a Singhnee, happened to be my sister in law's friend and she's just recently had a baby. And she was saying that after a Singhnee gives birth she needs 2 re-take Amrit again, is this true? ...  grin.gif

I've never come across this untill this Singhnee told me now I'm totally confused  wacko.gif .

No, this is completly wrong, firstly sex and giving birth are not sins, she does not have to retake Amrit. Please make her understand this. It is a common practice in Christianity to rebaptize, the Amrit ceremony is when you enter the Khalsa you cant keep entering once you have entered. When you take Amrit its not like you have to be perfect already, being a Sikh is a process of learning. Maybe after taking Amrit you still have vices, but you have to work hard to fight them through life, or say once you take Amrit you only do a little paat, but your goad is to the complete Nitnem that is your goal. Taknig Amrit is a vow to the Guru that you are willing to achieve these goals. Once you become a Sikh you dont rebaptize but you can get pesh(confession). And taking off kakkar doesnt require the retake Amrit(BTW when I take a shower I place my kachera, kanga(if washing hair), Kirpan, and my dastaar near me but I dont have them on my body does that mean I need to rebaptize everyday), or if you commit a Sin you dont need to retake Amrit because you have already given you head to the Guru, just go for pesh(confession). One more thing you have to learn, is that you have to change your self, the Amrit ceremony only inspire you to work toward them. Please make sure you tell the Kaur and remove her (superstitious) beliefs. The Amrit ceremony is not a joke.

this is such a load of bull....

to all you misguided people who believe that you have to take peshi for removing your kakars...that's ridiculous...you just do a small ardas...and try not to remove it again...

as for birth....some people need to go read asa di vaar...

and just to the people who love to go do peshi...are you all strict amritvela gursikhs?...do you ever miss your amritvela?...do you go pesh for that?...if not...is amritvela any less important than the kakkaars??

what about when you do nindiya or listen to nindia...do you go do peshi?...cuz after all "khalsa sooey jo ninda thiyagaay"

what i'm getting at is..none of us are perfect...we each have things to work on...and we don't go do peshi for them...we just do ardas, ask for forgiveness and the strength to do better in the future....

Umm, anyways... Regardless of what everyone thinks about pesh and kakaars and stuff, we should respect other peoples views!!

Bottom line is, I don't think most Amritdharee bibian even HAVE TO remove their kashera when giving birth, I was pretty sure that they still keep it on their body somehow i.e. maybe on just one leg or maybe attached to their lag or arm or body somehow even if it's not directly on both legs (obviously) but still ON or ATTACHED to their bodies somehow

Maybe after taking Amrit you still have vices, but you have to work hard to fight them through life, or say once you take Amrit you only do a little paat, but your goad is to the complete Nitnem that is your goal. Taknig Amrit is a vow to the Guru that you are willing to achieve these goals.

This is ridiculous. The Nitnem is the absolute minimum required for an Amritdhari Gursikh. If you are unable to do Nitnem you should be questioning why you took Amrit because you weren't ready. In worst case you could listen to your Nitnem but to omit it is totally unacceptable.

(BTW when I take a shower I place my kachera, kanga(if washing hair), Kirpan, and my dastaar near me but I dont have them on my body does that mean I need to rebaptize everyday), or if you commit a Sin you dont need to retake Amrit because you have already given you head to the Guru, just go for pesh(confession).

This is even worse - how can you intentionally remove your Kakkars on a daily basis just for convenience? Didn't your Panj tell you how to keep Kakkars on when having Ishnaan? You wash your body first, keeping all Kakkars on and tying Kirpan, still in Gatra, around your Keski on your head. The Kachere stays on, and you take one leg out of Kachere, and put that leg in a new Kachere before removing the old one so no Ang is removed.

When washing hair (which should be done on a daily basis or a full Ishnaan has not been completed) the Keski is tied round the waist and the Kangha is placed within it. You place your hair over the shower so the rest of your body does not get wet. Your Kakkars are Angs of your body (extensions or limbs), how can you take them off when you please!

When you take Amrit you take a vow to LIVE the life of a Khalsa. Not "eventually" live the life of a Khalsa. I am sure if you presented yourself to the Panj at a Sanchar organised by any major Panthic Jathebandi, and explained you had daily removed your Kakkars for convience and not kept Nitnem Rehat, they would most likely have some very stern words for you!

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
