lol we all feel like that, like at my college we do presentations and i start talking really fast but everyone admits they are scared, to be honest with practice u'll be fine and try to not look at ppl when u talk, ie. look towards them only but trust me most ppl like u and we all think we did it real bad but no!

It's mostly about experience. The more you do it, the less daunting it will be.

But when you're talking, just know that you know more about the issue than they do. You can even afford to screw up a bit and no one will notice. Besides, the people you are talking to are just people. They're probably not that important in the sense that you need to impress them.

gursikh girl je, this is a very good question you have put.

How to speak in front of a group of people ?? There are a lot of people/management specialists and a lot of concepts, both professional and laymen-type on how one should tackle this problem.

Some people have said that if you imagine the whole group as nekkid then your fears go away automatically, but some people do not find that advise useful.

But from personal experience, what I have found out that speaking in front of a group is a mind-game in which your mind has to get the attention of the group without allowing their attention to escape to other inanities.

Presentation also needs confidence in oneself, and when you are going to present you must be fully confident that you are attractive enough to keep people interested. You must not lack confidence in yourself howsoever because it will get easily radiated to the rest who will then soon get disinterested because you are just mirroring, what is probably their own emotions. So they feel....'nothing new for us here' ??

What helps and is most important however is the 'feeling' that the people you are addressing are a group of 'no-brainers' and it is only you who can help them out solve their problems. If your presentation revolves around this attitude, I feel it can take you far.

Youre all rite its jus tht i get nervousss and i kind of freeze up even though the people are just people and theyre normal just like me, and even if i nkow what i'm talking about and they mite not know

I still get nervous like theyre guna judge me or im like 'theyre prolly thinkin im so weird rite now' when usually before I used to be really confident so I dont know!

I hate it i hate feeling vulnerable like that in a group of ppl i think we need to learn confidence somehow

You're not alone penjhi, i'm far worse - i get nervous in almost every situation. The way I try to control it is by trying not to think about it until the actual time arrives. Becuase its normally the thinking before hand which gets me nervous. Do an ardaas pray.gif on the day before or on the day for guru to give his blessings and I'm sure you'll be fine. :TH:

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
