Dear brothers and sisters,

I thought that a sikh is allowed to oil their hair. Today I was in town with my friends and this Aunty come up to me and asked whether I was sikh. I said yes to her then she told me that I'm not suppose to oil my hair if I'm a Sikh it agaisnt Rehit Maryada. (I'm not Amrit Dhari yet but hoping to be to the near future).

I just wanted to ask why are some people against oiling hair? I only oil my hair because they get dry quite quick. It's not like I'm doing it for the sake of beauty.

Why do so many sikhs stick to superstitions and twist the Rehit Maryada words around regarding themselves being Sikhs?

Oil is essential for healthy hair. I think your aunty is just adding her own twist on things.

penji dnt pay n e atention thas the best solution u dnt get in2 doubts. As long as u kno ur not applying it becuz ov beauty then thas ok. Like the penji/paji haz sed abov oil is essential for healthy hair.
