Sangat Jee I'm stuck in a massive Dillema. I don't know what to do. My parents want me to get married but abroad mainly because they think there are not enough Amrit Dhari's in UK. I'm an Amrit Dhari myself aswell.

This guy from India they chose come down to see me, but I didn't like him as he doesn't even have general knowledge. I'm studying pharmacy and all he wants to do is plumbing.

However I also know another Amrit Dhari guy, we only chat at the moment but I kind of like him, and I he likes me too. (Havent done anything wrong).

But I'm scared of my parents that they'll get upset if I dont go ahead with the one from India because they seemed to like him very much and want to go ahead with the India one. I love my parents and the last thing I want to see is them getting upset with me I wont be able to bare it. I dont know what to do...Can anyone give me advice whether to go with my parents decision or go against them and tell them about my decision?

HELP PLEASE !

I would suggest first you talk with the boy if he says OK then tell him to talk with his parents and you try to talk with urs. If ur parents and his says ok then its OK. But if urs say ok and his not then tell ur parents to talk with his but if his says ok and urs say no tell boy's parents to talk with urs.

Hope u will be getting married with this guy soon.

DON'T FORGET TO INVITE ME..

I dunno if it is such a good idea to throw in the line that u found someone else already, i mean they already gonna get a shock that u found someone and then to go against u they may just say no to him because they think that the guy they found is a nice guy and the only reason u saying no to him is cos u already got someone else and not because as an individual u do not like him for ur husband.

U really need to get clear to them that u dont like the guy, not because u already got someone 'better' but because u dont like the guy plain and simple.

I dunno if its such good idea to tell parents that u aint ready to get married, they will fix it up and just delay it for a while, the excuse of i want to study doesnt go down too well with the parents. Just be honest, it is ur mum and dad at the end of the day, nothing to be scared of, I hope not but goodluck

my dear bhainjee, all i have to say is this...for the sake of your longterm happiness and to ensure you live in marital bliss, PLEASE do not marry someone whom you think is unsuitable for you because that will most definitely lead to a strained relationship, dissatisfaction and bitter feelings toward your marriage. Be honest with your parents and tell them you have no interest in this india guy cos of so-and-so reasons. With regards to the dude you're interested in.....hmmm.....the best thing is to get him to go up to your parents and talk things through...if not, get a middleman whom both of you trust...and get him/her to speak to each of your parents. may things go well and remember, you will get what is destined for you...all in HIS will...seek HIS sanctuary and HE will set your affairs right, no worries about that.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
