So, I decided to take the time to post on here as I have been living abroad and come back to Canada to see a rather large influx of Sikhs. Being in the states i have to say there are many parellels between the Mexicans of the states and Sikhs of Canada. The only difference being that the Sikhs of Canada tend to have a better education overall. having said that, its very frusturating seeing a culture that is so steeped in agriculture and the past and the notion of over sentimentality when it comes to "FAMILIES" ...as if having kids is the best thing in the world and nothing else really matters...what about overpopulation? what about science? why do Sikhs focus on such tradition instead of focusing on the here and now??
Furthermore what Sikhs are contemporary artists tend to appropriate black culture...Sikhs with turbans rapping and talking all gangsta...well sorry but..thats not our culture at all...that's someone elses culture....I find Sikhs in 2018 to be...well rather embarrassing....
another case in point...gays/homosexuals tend to bring a lot of art and culture to any minority group...but of course, such a notion is nonexistent in sikh culture...so Sikhs don't get that benefit ..and that shows as well..antiqudated and non inspirational...building maternity wards etc..like the world needs more of those....my two cents..
sincerely,
an educated human
