SikhMentors is a US based career mentoring program that matches high school students with mentors in the industry of their choice. The initiative helps to bridge the gap between students and the real world. Are you looking for someone to help with the university application process? Are you looking for help in choosing a career? The pilot program is designed to help high school students with the university application process, guide them through university entrance exams (SAT, MCAT, LSAT etc.) and support them in finding meaningful careers. Students are paired with mentors working or studying in fields such as engineering, law, medicine etc. Mentors and mentees will discuss upfront the expectations and needs for the program. They will meet at least once a quarter for a year (in person or virtually) to discuss issues such as entrance exams, scholarships, qualifications, skills, career paths etc. For mentors, it is a chance to give back to the community and help students grow in their field. For mentees, it is a great opportunity to learn from active professionals how to: Prepare for university entrance exams and fill university applications (essays, extra-curricular activities, recommendation letters etc.) Explore career options, and Acquire skills and training in your field of choice Source - http://sikhmentors.com
