  5. Hello ... I recently had been by a docotr who diagnosed that I have depression... My life became so senselesss and grey in the past years.. I can´t handle things anymore.. Everything seems to be <banned word filter activated>! I feel no longer any sense in life... And the wrost thing is I feel ashamed, because I am keshdhari 'Sikh', I mean I love Waheguru and everything.. and I love Sikhi... But I can´t practice it proper... I am so lost... Now I feel , that I am disrespecting.. Sikhs by wearing turban and kesh... because I have depression.. becauseSikhs have never depression.... I mean I am looking like a Sikh, but inside I am not and dead.. and I don´t want to offend.. I mean I love SIkhi but I can´t practice. like doing path etc.. because I feel so 'tired' of life... My parents don´t know either... and no relative or anyone else.. I am just suffering silently... From outside, I am seem to be very happy and stuff.. but I am not... I dont know what to do any longer... I mean I love my kesh.. and I would never cut it but in last time my mind is confusing me ... Because I constantly think that I am disrespcting what a true sikh is and represents... There is no other problem.... it isn´t for girls or stuff or for me.. it is just because I think I am disrespecting.. I mean Sikhs try to make the world a better place.. and I can´t count myself as one.... I mean everytime I read Bani my mind gets so happy and in joy.. like someone understands me... but everytime I interrupt I can´t ready further... Idon´t know why.... I dont want to cut my hair... what do you think.. am I disrespecting you ...? I feel so fcking bad ... as a boy... like a nobody.. a looser... I mean world would be better place with me... I never do or did any paap... but I jsut cant handle it anymore... I don´t deserve to live on this planet...
  6. As everyone knows about the recent Rochdale gang, The Rochdale sex trafficking gang was a group of pakistani men who preyed on under-age teenage girls in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. They were convicted of sex trafficking on 8 May 2012; other offenses included rape, trafficking girls for sex and conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a child This has been happening in our community for years and the government and police have never clocked onto the ethnic nature of this systematic abuse. The Sikh Awareness Society (www.sasorg.co.uk) have today released a cutting edge documentary interviewing Andrew Norfolk of the Times newspaper who was instrumental in bringing to light the grooming gangs in the UK Please watch carefully and pass on to everyone please and not just Punjabis as this effects the whole community at large. We would not want anyone's sister or daughter to go through these heinous abuses regardless of the colour of their skin or their racial background. please watch and share with everyone - especially our sisters and younger girls at secondary schools and colleges. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-20409229
  7. Heres another retard. http://sanatansikhi.blogspot.co.nz/2011/06/myths-against-sanatan-dharam.html His whole blog is dedicated to the myth that Gurbani is nothing new and it's from Upanishads and Vedas. Plus Guru Nanak Dev Ji created nothing new and Sikh is just a word.

  10. I am a white girl. I am very open, accepting, and curious about the Sikh religion. I have many Sikh friends who I ask questions of. I live in Surrey BC, and are surrounded by them. A little less than a year ago I started dating a very "Canadianized" Sikh man...I'm just going to refer to him as M for now. He flirted with me for many months actually before I finally said ok I'll go out with you...he had kind of won me over. We started dating and I fell in love WAYYYY too fast, but he kept me thinking he was feeling similar things. After a month and a half or so...I will admit to losing my head one night and I got pregnant. The situation surrounding this is all SO very much more complicated but to try and keep this short I will just be as brief as possible. When I told M I thought I was pregnant (I wasn't yet 100% sure)...his first reaction was almost one of awe...like "I'm going to have a baby!" kind of surprise to his voice. Then he started thinking...and walking around and ultimately said, amongst other things, that his parents would be upset/angry..."no offense but it's because you are white". Later on, he told me he did not want to have a child with me (and admittedly this was an oopsie and unplanned by either of us) and that he wanted to pursue a relationship with someone else...who I later learned is Sikh too. I feel so very very ostracized. Never in the history of my immediate family have I heard of anyone being treated in such a racist way or treating anyone else as such. I feel upset that people that I hear on a daily basis saying Canadians should accept them and embrace their culture, their religion, learn about it etc., would raise children who feel it is acceptable to trash the white girl based on HER skin colour and background...the white girl who IS open and accepting and wants to learn more. It saddens me very deeply. And to so cruel-ly dump her while she was hormonal and pregnant...even worse. Ultimately...I lost that baby. She or he is gone from this earth. But I felt the child move and I now carry a part of that man in me every where I go. And today would have been my due date...so I am doubly sad because I would have been more than willing to work on a relationship, being a good person in his life, etc., and he threw that away for a question of culture as far as I'm concerned. He has yet to prove to me otherwise in any shape way or form...

  12. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! We protest against bipran ki reet when we criticise Sikhs who celebrate karva chauth, rakhree/raksha bandan etc because Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaaj says 'Jab Lag Khalsa Rahe Niara, Tab Lag Tej Dioon Mein Sara. Jab Eh Gaye Birpran Ki Reet, Mein Na Karoon In Ki Parteet.' Under article 25 of the Indian constitution, Hindus include Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains. Are you celebrating Deepavali (divali) today? Do you prefer the blessings of goddess Lakshmi over Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaaj's Parteet.. Yeah yeah you didn't mean divali when you said happy divali, you meant happy bandi cchor divas. Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj was the first Guru to secure release of prisoners from Babar's prison. How come we don't celebrate that day? If we want to break free from the shackles of article 25 of the Indian constitution and the constitution in general, we must start by celebrating Bandi Cchor Divas on another day in line with Gurmat? After all we have different dates for Gurpurabs depending on which calendar we follow. SGPC could declare another date to pray for the release of all prisoners still languishing in jails around the world. I realise ive jumped from one point to another and I appologise if ive offended anyone. I'm not saying don't celebrate Bandi Cchor Divas, just saying we need to know what we're celebrating and when. How does Bandi Cchor Divas coincide with Divali? Guru Hargobind Ji Maharaaj was released on Divali day and made it to Amritsar on the same Divali day from Gwalior, south of Agra which today would take one 8hours in a train, in those days 5days atleast on horseback? thats assuming Maharaaj did not stop on way to meet Sangatah who would of course have been greeting and congratulating. So how exactly does Divali and Bandi Cchor Divas coincide? Is this an accurate depiction of Sikh history and an accurate interpretation of Sikh sentiment? Or are some Sikhs so eager to celebrate Divali, and so fervent to want to link Divali to Sikh practice and tradition that they simply had to find or create an incident that is suggested to have happened on or close to Divali day, and use that as a pretext to celebrate? and why do we not celebrate the Bandi Cchor Divas of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj from Babars prison along with the innocent prisoners mostly women and children?! or does that not matter since there was no divali or raksha bandan or karva chauth then?! Why aren’t Sikhs extolled to celebrate Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaaj’s Bandi Cchor Divas? Why is there no Deep Maala to commemorate this day? Because it does not coincide with Divali? Or it did not happen close enough to Divali day? Or there was no Harmandar Sahib to be lit up with lamps then? Or simply because this Bandi Cchor provides no pretext for celebrating Divali? We light candles and deevay and fireworks polluting our atmosphere...WHY? is a celebration not complete without them? if this is not Bipran Ki Reet, i dont know what is. I appologise again if ive offended anyone. and if im wrong in what i say, I guess Maharaaj will be the judge of that. but my intention is not to offend anyone. Pul Chuk Muaf Ji. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  13. Canadians ask PM Harper & Sikh MPs to visit Widow Colony during trip to India On November 3rd, 2012 Canadian Prime Minister, Stephen Harper along with 3 Sikh MPs Parm Gill, Bal Gosal and Tim Uppal will visit India during the 28th Anniversary of the 1984 Sikh Genocide. The purpose of the trip is to talk trade, but human rights do not appear to be on the agenda. Although PM Harper has provided no indication that the 1984 Sikh Genocide will be addressed, human rights activists along with members of the Sikh community are asking that Prime Minster and his Sikh MPs do the right thing and agree to two requests: Raise the issue of accountability and justice for the 1984 Sikh Genocide with Indian PM Manmohan Singh PM Harper and his fellow Sikh MPs pay their respects to the thousands of innocent victims of the 1984 Sikh Genocide with a visit to Delhi’s ‘Widow Colony’ Members of the Sikh community in particular feel that the lack of justice for victims and impunity provided to members of the Congress government is extremely problematic. They believe that the shielding of members of the Congress Party who were directly involved in the orchestrated massacres has long sustained the trauma and suffering of Sikh victims; many of whom are now Canadian citizens. TAKE ACTION The Sikh Activist Network encourages Sikh Canadians to take action in reminding PM Harper and his 3 Sikh MPs that human rights must be a priority and respects should be paid to the victims of the genocide. Here is how you can help: Twitter: In an effort to remind MPs tweet them the following: Facebook: Share this link: http://wp.me/pQxfM-11E Email: 1 – Choose an image from here: Image Galleries 2 – Email the following accounts: Tim.Uppal@parl.gc.ca; Bal.Gosal@parl.gc.ca; Stephen.Harper@parl.gc.ca; Parm.Gill@parl.gc.ca 3 – Write the following:
  14. 1984 Statments from the leaders of Canada’s Federal Parties Source: www.sikhactivist.net CONSERVATIVE PARTY OF CANADA Although the Conservative Party has made statements in the House in the past, they have not yet released a written or verbal statement regarding the 1984 Sikh Genocide this year. Stephen Harper, Bal Gosal, Parm Gill and Tim Uppal are currently visiting India, where Sikhs have asked them to raise the issue of 1984 and visit Sikh Genocide sites. NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF CANADA [NDP] Jack Layton’s position relating to human rights and 1984 is somewhat legendary in the Sikh community. But, the unfortunate reality is that Jack passed away little more than a year ago and the NDP was forced to go through a leadership transition shortly after. Jack was a friend to the Sikh community, but what the community was unsure of was whether this sentiment resonated throughout the party. Under the leadership of Tom Mulcair, the answer is growing evidently stronger – Tom Mulcair is now leading the charge. Although the federal NDP has yet to match the ONDP’s position and their use of the term genocide to describe 1984, they appear to be headed in the right direction. The NDP remains the only federal Canadian party to release annual statements on 1984 and has used the strongest language of any federal party with the use of the term “pogrom”. In an analysis of Tom Mulcairs statement, not only has the new leader of the NDP continued Jack’s legacy, but he’s strengthened it. Tom Mulcair has for the first time ever: - Explicity named the Congress party as the subject of the many allegations. - Highlighted that these attacks took place all across India. - Addressed the use of state resources in the killing of the Sikh community - Praised the Hindu, Muslim and other non-Sikhs that provided refuge to the Sikh community, which indicates a belief that this was not a “communal riot” Although, the road to justice is very long… the NDP is certainly positioned itself as an ally of the community. LIBERAL PARTY OF CANADA The Liberal Party of Canada, is currently undergoing a leadership race. Although the party has made statements in the past, the Liberal Party has not released a statement this year. Current leadership contenders have also remained silent on the 1984 Sikh Genocide

  16. Do you think there is a widening gap of sorts between amritdharis and non-amritdharis? I was reading these comments left on a news site and this person repeatedly called Amritdharis drug sellers etc. It seems he is saying that amrit is not necessary and amritdharis have a violent agenda in wearing the Kirpan. Again if you think about it many non-amritdharis (this is my experience) seem to always say there is no need to wear the Kirpan etc. if u have Bhagti and they seem to stereotype keshdhari and Shastardhari Singhs. What do you think?
  17. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh. I have a plea to make to anyone reading this, this plea is in regards to a Singh living in a foreign country for more than a decade. Singh is tomorrow going to talk with a politician regarding political asylum in his chosen nation. Singh needs official documents regarding what India is doing to Sikhs, that is human rights violation etc. It will be greatly appreciated if reports, and websites which can help Singh prove his point can be provided before 3,0, clock tomorrow. Three o clock New Zealand time. Thank u ji.
  18. How does Rehat make one Sikh? Many people argue that if u do not keep rehat it does not make u less of a Sikh. How do we refute such people? Does Rehat make us distinct? How does it help in this life and the next? Please can anyone elaborate and explain why Rehat is set for a Sikh? What it's purposes are etc.
  19. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8354977.stm I had heard that Sikh soldiers within the army had to remove their dastars during training/on field, to replace with a helmet. This was confirmed by the above article: "During his training on the rifle ranges, Rifleman Singh has to take off his turban for safety and wear a hard helmet." there are roughly 80 Sikhs in the British army. from over 100,000 fighting with their Dastars to death, to 80 Sikhs willingly replacing their dastars... this is clearly an issue for those to whom the dastar has significance. for those who see it as mere head covering, will willingly replace it for a helmet. But what about our Amritdhari Sikh wanting to join the army or already within the army? perhaps this is why the number of Sikhs is so low? or atleast a contributer. Is there anything being done about this? and legal cases etc... Pul chuk maaf ji
  20. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Cyber sangat ji, basically ive been keeping my kes for about 7months now. My head hair is about 3/4inches long...its taking ages growing lol. My dhara is a few inches long too. Loving every bit of it! Cant wait for it to get longer. I started saja'ing a dastar about 2ish months back, pretty simple gol dastar which is working pretty fine except i'd really like to sajaa a Dumalla. It looks crazy!! Totally beautiful!! Ive been trying with the help of our veers on youtube but they all have 'proper' kes so it doesnt really work for me. My question, is it possible to sajaa a Dumalla with such short kes as in my case? And to my veers who once cut their kes and are now keeping them; what style dastar did you sajaa? What works best? Any tips would be much much appreciated thank you. Secondly, this may seem a daft question but once youve made the decision to keep your kes, how soon after can you take amrit? Like i dont feel 'proper' at the moment because my kes are so short...i would still consider myself a monna although ive not cut my kes in over 7months. I dont intend on taking amrit for atleast a year yet. As soon as i can start keeping rehat properly, I can consider taking amrit. I don't want to take amrit and then find i cant keep rehat or i make a mistake which ill regret right, for example, i love my sleep so if i miss amritvela...etc. Is this the correct thinking? Or should i take amrit and then see where it takes me? Cyber sangat ji, thank you in advance! And i apologise for any phul of mine, incase ive offended anyone. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  21. I dont know if anyone has noticed but a lot of the time i see a lot of young sikhs taking on some parts of the glorified gangster culture. This is from the way they dress with low jeans and the latest Yeezy 2 trainers to the way they drive s low down in there cars. But easily the most annoying is the way they speak and type "innit", "wagwan", "gwarnin". Even on this forum you see people giving advice using slang language I myself sometimes easily fall into the trap. But surely we should do something to combat this problem makes us look like a joke.

  23. Please share your views!!! I was studying Bachitra Natak, i mention here especially about Subh Bansh Barnan Dutiya Adhiyaye and Patshahi Barnan. > :respect: Guru Gobind Singh ji Patshah 10 :respect: has written in Dasam granth Sahib that He belongs to Sodhi Vansh (want to clear here i am just mentioning about Temporal LIneage not Spiritual because Bhagtas have no Vansh, Kull etc. It is same like they have one father i.e god but as we know that Temporal Father of Guru Sahib is Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib so Temporal fact should not be denied....and this is Temporal Fact) which is further continuation of Raghu Vansh (Rama Ji was also born in same vansh but Guru Sahib did not give him much importance, even haven't used word SRI but used RAAM KUMAR for him, just written KAAL PAAYE SUR PUREH SIDHAYO the same like in Guru Granth Sahib it is written RAAM GAYO RAAVAN GAYO) which is further continuation of Suyavansh. > :respect: Khalsa :respect: is son of Guru Gobind Singh and Mata Sahib Devan that means Khalsa is also part of same Sodhivanshi <- Raghuvanshi <- Suryavanshi. (Temporal LIneage) > Which means Hindu brothers worship forefathers of Khalsa (like Rama), whom Khalsa treat as Normal Human being (Not God), even in Guru Granth Sahib or like in Dasam Granth it is mentioned (KITEY RAAM SEY MET DAAREY UPAAYE) Note: If Mehta Kalyan was Idol Worshipper Hindu, this does not mean that Baba Nanak was not Temporal Son of him and if some one want to go with Mehta Kalyan Dass thought then let him go but if someone want to go with Baba Nanak's thought then how could we call him Idol worshippers? The above facts in Dasam Granth does not make Khalsa, a Hindu from any side? Does not provoke Khalsa to go for Idol Worship. Does not provoke Khalsa to Do Rama Worship or Krishna Worship etc. I don't know from where Anti Dasam People think that this makes us Hindu? RSS, VHP, etc if say that Sikhs are hindu due to this fact then what is difference between them and anti dasam people? > Fact is that Khalsa is Heritor of Raghu Vansh, and Raghu, Surya etc. who was ruler of most of parts of india upto Afghanistan and even Tazhakitan > Even By this Khalsa is actual heritor(Waaris) of maximum part of land of India. Especially, Lahore, Kasoor, Ayodhya etc Please contribute your views !!!

  25. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh ji, I've been attending weddings since ever basically lol typical. But its soon to be my own. So basically someone in the family found/recomended a girl for me to my parents and things got rolling from there. I plan to take Amrit in the near future. I want to get into keeping rehit before i take Amrit so i know i can commit to keeping rehit instead of taking Amrit and then seeing if i can keep it or not. The proposed girl for me is not kesdhari at the moment. I'm hoping here journey will lead her onto this path soon. Now both families are typically punjabi. Hardcore partiers etc. 1) I just want the Anand Karaj to take place, Guru ka Langar and we all go home. I realize this is a dream world fantasy of mine. Does anyone think this could be possible? I dont listen to music, i dont dance drink or eat forbidden food- i dont want all this to take over my own wedding. So can there be a compromise as im pretty sure both families will never agree to a total no party policy. Hows no meat no alcohol and i will not be dancing like a lunitic? Just food, deafening music and people dancing... And when should i make all this clear to the girls family? I think this could potentially be a deal breaker. 2) Is the Kurmai and Chunni ceremony Gurmat? I've seen how the groom is given dried fruits nuts etc in his palla/parna thing and then fed a shuwara/dried date. I don't understand what this represents so am questioning whether this is Gurmat at all. I've seen this take place in the Darbar Sahib. What is this all about? And can I take part in all this? 3) The maiya/mehndi which takes place on the days leading to the wedding. Haldi doh stuff is applied to the groom/bride-to-be. I really dont fancy that. Too intimate and spray on fake tan would do the same job! Pretty sure this is not Gurmat. 4) Groom & Kalgi- this is a no no right? How come this happens all too often? Why is nothing said/explained to sangat before/during the Anand Karaj? And the groom holds a sword- any reason? 5) Can this all work out between me, a kesdhari hoping to soon take Amrit, and a non kesdhari girl? Pul chuk maaf ji.
