  1. It is always particularly disturbing for me to see a sikh go to any other religious place except a gurudwara . I don't wish to sound fanatic , but the way some (or many?) sikhs go to hindu mandirs , esp durga is particularly disturbing. When you have contact with CEO , would you butter a manager ? nopes. when our guru showed us the path to true parbrahm waheguru , then why do we go to the hindu devi devte who're mere creations of waheguru ji . You would never see a muslim or christian or even a buddhist visit a hindu mandir ? why then it is our sikhs who go and bow to the idols of durga in mandirs when Guru Gobind Singh ji in his zaffarnama clearly stated "I vanquished the vicious hill chiefs, they were idol-worshippers and I am idol-breaker." (verse 95) In tav prasad chaupai Guru sahib says "Anhad roop anahad baani . Charan Saran jeh basat bhavani" (Lord's form is limitless and speech is unstruck sound . In his feet, even the goddess durga (bhavani) takes refuge) How foolish of a sikh to go and worship idol of someone who herself has taken a refuge in the feet of the lord ? How can such sikhs even justify it ? BTW , the guy I am specifically talking about is half-hindu in the sense that maybe his mom is hindu and so is his wife. He keeps a turban and trimmed beard. But , its not about HIM alone. There're many such people in our community who has more sharda on this created hindu devi devte than the shabad Guru. Its disgusting beyond words .
  2. There is a petition initiated in which women will begin the " Amrit Sanchar". We must support this petition and women should get their rights because our Sikh religion is the great and foremost, it doesn't believes in caste system, then why there is a discrimination between men and women. Instead, Guru Nanak Dev Ji has given the highest status to the women, this is why, we need to support this petition. https://www.change.org/p/jathedar-sri-akal-takht-sahib-ji-empowering-sikh-women-to-administer-amrit-sanchar
  3. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. I was just wondering (after spending some going through the pages of some Sikh Organisations/personalities on facebook and instagram) that what exactly does it take for a person to become a Sikh Parcharik. In the modern day, we have, sadly, limited young parchariks who are truly dedicated to Sikhi (in and out) and can set as role model to the panth themselves, especially the younger generations outside India. Anyway, I found many who do regular kirtan are not following rehat (not hating, no worries) even though they sing bani beautifully, while some camp organisers/helpers also do not seem to be following rehat. While they are doing sewa, the thing that made me ask about the requirements for a person to become a parcharik/start a sikh organisation or participate in committee is that: a few days ago, i was listening to katha and they mentioned about great parchariks (during Guru Arjan Dev Ji's time, if i am not wrong) who preached very beautifully to others but cried to guru ji because their life was very different from what they preached to people. So who can take up the sewa of parchar? Who should be handling Sikh Organisations and Committee, (or even Charities)?
  4. A video has emerged of a beating of a woman by a Sikh and his Hindu friend allegedly for dowry and giving birth to a girl. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4701172/Indian-woman-brutally-beaten-hockey-sticks-family.html Video: http://video.dailymail.co.uk/video/mol/2017/07/16/7931081988975183920/1024x576_MP4_7931081988975183920.mp4 http://www.hindustantimes.com/punjab/viral-video-woman-assaulted-by-in-laws-over-dowry-demand-in-patiala/story-eMCGE7VI3uF3Q53lNl4fPN.html I was a bit confused to see that the beater was what looked like a Sikh man, which is strange since the woman's name is Meena Kashyap. Kashyaps were one of the original eight gots of Brahmins. So why would a Sikh man be beating this Brahmini? And then I realized this must have been a "love" marriage. Love marriage for the win!! The HT article says she was beaten by her brother-in-law Kamaljeet Singh and his friend Gaurav in Patiala, Punjab. If you view the video, it's clear that one man has a beard and is wearing a blue round turban. The other man is wearing a black cap. They are beating the woman with sticks or bats. The camera is held by someone standing on a staircase looking down on a garage where the beating happens. Also in the video is a man on the stairs with a red pointy turban and his beard Fixo'd. This might be the woman's husband Daljit Singh. I would like to acknowledge that there are plenty of false dowry accusations by women who are trying to "get back" at their husbands or in-laws for some reason. But regardless of the base allegations being true or not, the beating subsequent to her filing charges speaks for itself. Also, this video demolished at least two myths regarding undesirable behavior around marriage and dowry: 1) that such things only happen in arranged marriages, and 2) such things only happen in villages. Wake up, people, don't deny social evils. Also, don't think that "love" marriage solves anything. The Daily Mail article has a surprisingly apt description of dowry and its problems: When a girl gets married, she can't break off a part of her father's house and take it with her, so people generally give something else to her (money, car, etc.) The abuse is the in-laws grabbing that stuff for themselves. Yes, I realize 8000 dowry deaths happen in India every year, and that's all across India, not just Punjab. But there's no reason that even one dowry death (or beating) needs to occur among Sikhs. Any other dowry, which the self-willed manmukhs offer for show, is only false egotism and a worthless display. ਸਿਰੀਰਾਗੁ (ਮਃ ੪) ਛੰਤ (੧) ੪:੫ - ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ : ਅੰਗ ੭੯
  5. India as a country, as a governance is known nasty for invading in other people's lands . This time it dared to step in the boundary of its neighboring country which is 5 times more powerful than it in terms of GDP and even militarily and socially advanced ! The red dragon is certainly not happy . And I have a feeling of how its going to end lol. http://indianexpress.com/article/india/doklam-stand-off-sikkim-india-no-room-for-negotiations-border-line-is-bottom-line-says-chinas-mouthpiece-4752573/ Pakistan and Kashmir is lesser threat to india , as Pakistan is on verge of bankruptcy and the CPEC (china pak economic corridor) will most likely make pakistan an economic colony and vassal of china. I remember reading a prophecy which contained lines "Roos cheen hind pe chad aawe".(Russia and china will march onto india). All this is a karmic debt of 1984 destruction on akal takht sahib . As indian troops invaded darbar sahib and destroyed Akal takht, so by god's justice , someone else will invade them , as the history shows . The prophetic words we say daily in ardas "Raaj karega khalsa , Aaki rahe na koe, Khwaar hoe sab milenge, bache sharan jo hoe" (Khalsa shall rule, there shall be no rival to it. After useless wandering , all the lost ones shall come back to the panth, Who seeks refuge shall be saved) Sikhs have gained raaj the last and only time by gaining advantage of anarchy and power void , as it happened when Marathas and Afghans clashed in the third battle of panipat, annihilating each other. The sikhs took advantage of this power void and we saw Maharaja Ranjit Singh. But for this to happen again, Sikhs have to be prepared. In the end, its waheguru's play , he will surely make us ready when its time. The biggest illusion is we do something, when everything is in his hukam.
  6. State govt of maharashtr allocates 3600 crore rupees to build a memorial of shivaji , their god (who ironically doesn't have a temple, unlike other actual dieties of hindus) . His old forts are being repaired by allocation of hundreds of crores of rupees. RSS and hindutva does love this warrior king WAY TOO MUCH for too reasons 1) He was hindu king who fought mughals and other muslims , and most importantly, 2) He didn't challenge existing brahmin supremacy and rather appointed 8 brahmin heads in his council of ministers and called it "asht pradhan" (eight cardinals). No wonder everyone loves him so much here and more than god . But brahmins still won't allow a temple be built in his name. They just used him and his ignorance of religion to usurp power. Meanwhile, same maharashtr govt made changes to hazur sahib act so that the president of Hazur sahib would be directly appointed by the govt and not the board . They appointed a "sikh" MLA as new president of hazur sahib who wears tilak on his forehead and worships hindu gods. How could we have allowed this to happen right under our noses is BAFFLING ! Rather we welcomed his appointment with open arms and felicitated him . What has happened to our sikhs ? There's definitely a maratha revivalism happening right under our noses right since BJP came to power in 2014 in center and also current maharashtr govt is BJP ruled headed by brahmin chief minister. Marathas agitate for reservation but looks like CM (brahmin) isn't giving them any , but just pretense that he will . It is obvious even at superficial observation of things that brahmans just want to use maratha warrior clan to their own benefit . I am now wondering the ways these evil people have been manipulating "apney" in punjab (badals) . As our own state punjab is in disarray like never and our kaum is confused and lost like never, while the ones we thought as our brothers have now come to back stab us , I feel very uneasy Does anyone else here getting my thought process ?
  7. You guys need to see this article http://goo.gl/aZ7PAq Right-wing hindus discussed on the above article how evangelical fanatic christians are running all time high conversion racket in punjab and I appreciated their concern for the sikh people , until I hit the comment section that is . However this thread is not more of the comment section , it is more about the article itself. As the author highlights how a few sikhs were arrested a few days back for insulting jesus , and how punjabi christians flanked one guy called "suleman" to get the few sikhs arrested . Hindu right-wing saw this an obvious encroachment of evangelicals in punjab. Even before , they have openly pledged their allegiance to the sikhs against the conversion activities of christian missionaries. But apparently our people feel more threatened by right-wing hindus than the christian missionaries who're an open threat to the sikh demography in punjab. The comment section was equally shocking PFA And you can see I have given apt reply to one user "shalini" (a hindu in punjab) on some occassion where she says Guru Gobind Singh worshipped durga and how sikhs are creating separatism by claiming to be different religion . Like seriously <banned word filter activated> they want ? hug of love for sikhs so tight that it suffocates us ?
  8. The rise of radical Islam in Punjab is never touched upon within the Qaum but it is a pressing issue. With the restoration of hundreds of mosques, conversion of Sikhs to Islam in our Sikh home land, increase in religious riots involving Muslims and non-Muslims and the Muslim immigrants facilitating Jihadi activity and there have been talks about introducing Sharia Panchayats within Punjab. The Muslim population of East Punjab was 0.8 % in 1971 and was at 1.92% in 2011. We need to act proactively before it is too late. The Gujar immigrants from Kashmir have been known to harbor terrorists and store weapons for a while now. A consignment of weapons was found more than 10 years back near the Adampur town of Doaba. The Gujar deras of Gurdaspur were used as a refuge by the terrorists before they launched the 2015 Pathankot attacks. Now in April 2017 a Muslim immigrant from Uttar Pradesh who was living in Jalandhar for several years working as a tailor was arrested for his links to ISIS. These are the developments of dangerous trends for the future of Punjab.
  9. Vjkkvjkf, What are some useful websites or places I can visit for a suitable gursikh partner. Specifically, I am a 24 year old gursikh male searching for 24 or younger gursikh match. Me and my family are all Canadian citizens and live in Ontario. I am also asking my local sangat as well but I would like to your suggestions as well. Thank you. Vjkkvjkf
  10. WJKK WJKF I was reading some gurbani quotes on feminism etc and one quote stuck out: jit jameh raajaan Guru Nanak empowered women by saying "from her kings are born" and previously within this Bhangti Maharaj empowers women through the experience of men, noting that when a man's wife dies he seeks another woman so he is bound to woman. During the times of Guru Nanak these words were revolutionary... but now is it not fair to say that empowering woman through powerful men is somewhat outdated? And therefore should we read GGSJ in the context of when it was written. Bhul Chuk Maaf karo
  11. Is there any limit to how low the hinduists can fall while inflated by their own fake ego over nothing. In this another article I stumbled upon, they shamelessly deny that Guru Teg Bahadur sacrificed his head for the sake of dharam in general and protection of kashmiri pandits. Rather they say Guru was protecting his own "tilak" and dharma . That guru was hindu himself. Then they twisted the line "tilak janju raakha prabh taa ka" (from dasam granth) to suggest that Guru Gobind Singh ji was referring to tilak of Guru Teg Bahadur ji and not hindus. Check the article itself. https://trueindology.wordpress.com/2016/05/08/martyrdom-of-guru-tegh-bahadur-a-historical-analysis BTW, this is not the first time I am reading this kind of comment by RSS and other hinduists on shaheedi of Guru Teg Bahadur.

Why is Death Hard to Accept?

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Is there a reason why death is something hard for many to accept, even when it will happen to everyone? Why do people forget it? Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  15. Thakur Dalip Namdhari did Amrit Sanchar (Baptise) by Amritdhari women to flourish amritdhari community. is it wrong or right ? Yesterday Akal Takht Sahib has announced that they will conduct meeting of 5 jathedhars on 5th May against women empowerment step taken by namdhari head Thakur Dalip Singh, Thakur Dalip Singh has given rights of Amrit Chhakauna ( Baptise ) to Sikh Women. Thakur Dalip has taken step by authorizing amritdhari women to give amrit (Baptise) others for the seek of practical equality of women in Sikhs religion. He said according to gurbani and Sikh philosophy women are equal. If women can take Amrit then after being amridhari women why they cannot give amrit to others. His aim is to baptise more and more women. To achieve this goal he says women are influenced more by women than men. Therefore we should authorized women also to baptise (distribute Amrit). Now some people objected openly and started propaganda against this step of women authorization of distributing Amrit (baptising). They have approached Akal Takht sahib against this women empowerment. Now I request all you learnt people to give your views to clarify this point. Has Dalip Singh committed sin by authorizing women to give Amrit to others? or he has done a good deed by authorizing women. For information of all readers Sikh rehat maryada published by Sharomani committee approved by Akal Takhat sahib on page 20. It is clearly written that women can give Amrit (Baptise).

    Doctor vs lawyer

SPNer Wjkk wjkf. Im a 17 year old amritdhari singh and am about to start college but im not sure what i want to do yet. I am deciding on whether to study medical and become a doctor. Or study law and become a lawyer. I have been wondering about this ever since i turned 17 and can not decide. So i have decided to ask my fellow brothers and sisters to give me some advice of which career path i should choose
  17. I can enumerate so many of Hindu Punjabi big brand businesses right off my tongue and I am not even a very savvy person : Mahindra & Mahindra (automobile and finance) , Bajaj (2 wheelers and finance), Airtel (telecom) and then ofcourse half of uber-rich bollywood film industry is run by Kapoors (Punjabi hindus). Now contrast that with Sikhs . We had Ranbaxy (pharma) but sold it off, Apollo (but it looks like half his family is having hindu names). Also if you noticed, Punjabi Hindus tend to live mostly in Urban cities in punjab . Jalandhar ,Chandigarh, etc are mostly Hindu. Sikhs on the other hand are mostly into rural punjab and can't think of anything beyond farming. When Sikhs come to urban spaces , they can't think of anything except petrol pumps, Automobiles , Transportation. Looks like our kaum is attached to vehicles in some way lol. If you look at corporate India , most of top CEOs tend to be madrasi . I guess sambar chaul is giving them brains
  18. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! How exactly did the Missionary Jatha get it's influence especially among the majority of those who aren't Amritdhari? Is there a reason why true Gurmat is being attacked by our own people? Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

    Meaning of Vaisakhi

Wjkk wjkf, I am curios to understand what does Vaisakhi mean to those that are not Amrithdhari/have cut their hair/don't exactly identify as Khalsa per say. This question stems from my understanding of Vaisakhi which is basically the birth of the Khalsa. And while many identify as Sikh, not all Sikhs are part of the Khalsa (do note that many have subjective views as to how they identify with being Sikh).
  20. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Any solutions? It happens a lot, don't know how to fix my weak focus. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

  23. Hello, I am a Sikh, or at least i think i am. I followed Guru Nanak all the way. I followed the 10 teachers who never taught hatred, but when the last teacher trusted us to carry on our own, i found hatred as my companion in all the upcoming years. I cannot bear someone arguing with me. I cannot be a SIKH who learns, teaches, inner peace. I am tinier than the tinniest particle when compared to the vast universe around me. My gurus showed me the scope of things but i chose to be arrogant and full of ego ignoring my small place in the universe. This could have stopped me from actually expanding my position in the cosmos. My people [correction: All people] faced adversities one way or the other at times. My Guru gave us a reaction strategy. This was supposed to be a small problem that was to be solved and we had to move on. But i mistook that skill as a new world order for my people [thats right, some people became my people now, rest were not even close to equal like me]... ...to be continued
  24. http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/us_58dd52e4e4b0e6ac70935777 what is your views on this? Personally I'm split on the issue.
  25. I must say one impressive thing about muslims is their numbers, atleast here in india ! the way they multiply sends shivers down these right-wingers lol Why are sikhs so shy ? Why don't we have many kids . Most governments today are democratic which means numbers is power. No politician cares for sikhs because we don't have numbers But at the same time if you look at jews, they have lesser numbers but still power. Muslims, christians and hindus have quantity, Jews and parsis have quality. What about sikhs?
