The government is mad that Sikhs are starting to gain power outside India and want to do everything they can to keep us under their control. This idea of "Sikh Extremism" is so overblown, there was a recent study in the UK which showed that Sikh Extremism isnt even a threat. The concept of "Khalistan", a nation run on Sikh values by Sikhs, isnt something thats "extreme", its a very reasonable thing for a community to work towards, and even the Guru himself told Sikhs to be sovereign and remain independent. Even if we go back to the 1800's in Maharaja Ranjit Singhs Sikh Kingdom, we can see a liberal and secular society were minorities are accepted, and there wasn't even any death penalty. This is just a small taste of what Sikhs can contribute to the world. On the topic of Jagmeet Singh, its obvious that the Indian government wants to destroy the reputation of this Amritdhari Sikh who is allways try to push to have the 1984 Sikh Genocide officially recognized. Jagmeet Singh represents the next generation of Sikh politicians, and is seen as a role model in the Sikh youth. The Indian government is throwing false accusations at him, denied his visa, spread a lot of fake news, and they are trying to do everything they can to stop a decent minded Sikh from becoming elected, just look at the drama they caused in India when the Canadian PM visited, or the non stop hit pieces and character assassinations they do. When it comes to Baba Jarnail Singh Bhinranwale, there is proof that the Indian government pre-planned the attack on Darbar Sahib, and were planing it even before Bhindranwale entered Akal Takth. During their genocide, they attacked multiple Gurdwara's. and even destroyed the Sikh Reference Library and stole so many precious Sikh texts, some even written by the Gurus themselves. To this day the government refuses to apologize for its instigation's on genocide, and still refuses to at least give back the stolen Sikh texts. Its so obvious the 1984 genocide was engineered to destroy Sikhi.

So a few days ago i saw this man. He had a pagg, a beard and a jooda. When i looked at him i was suppisred as he looked white, im not sure if he took amrit or not but he looked white. His beard was blondish/brown. There was a child near him and he looked like a punjabi (he had a patka). But they talked together...... so now im confused was he white or??? I was gonna ask him but he left before i could, he looked like he was in his fifties almost sixties and he also had a kara. In Afghanistan there used to be prominent Sikh and Hindu communities living along side the Muslim majority. As time went on things got worse. Taliban took over and Hindus and Sikhs were forced to wear yellow arm bands to identify themselves, similar to Jews in Germany! Me and my Hindu and Sikh relatives now live in Southall. I dont believe in caste. But neverless being realistic person. We know what kind of problems this can cause. We all know that 99% of Parents want their child to marry someone of the same community/caste whatever you want to call it. What kind of problems can arise from inter caste marriages. Can it cause friction. With both families feeling uncomfortable with each other as they may have different way of doing things. Some issues are. Bhatra tend to be more conservative wheras jatt ramgaria let their girls go clubbing, wear revealing clothes and let their kids marry white and other races alot more. Anyone think it can work? and how would they feel if their offspring married someone of another caste.

WJKK WJKF My dumalla has been causing me issues ever since i started wearing it. My dumalla consists of a bunga (does not cover my ear), then the Keski (does not cover my ear), then the actual dumalla (final piece, does cover my ears) Throughout the day of wearing it would start to sting my ears. I then lift up the part that is covering my ears and then people would say it is very red and has a cut. I would prefer to keep my turban on my ears since it becomes more stable. WJKK WJKF

"Sikh relgious sucessionism"? LoL! Have they ever read Sikh history or Gurbani? Its common sense to those who are educated on Sikhi that the Sikh Panth is meant to be distinct from others and be independent. The Khalsa is literally meant to be a sovereign army and institution all in one, that only answer's to the Guru, that by itself isnt legal in another country, and its a pretty obvious hint that the Guru clearly taught Sikhs to be independent, but of course. What did the Sikh Gurus do for a living or for money? Did they live like kings and have people serve them, or did they work like common folks for food, money, shelter, etc.?

If I follow human Gurus after Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and I believe that he gave the Guruship to others. I still respect the Granth Sahib, but I don’t follow it as a final Guru. Am I still considered a Sikh according to Gurbani? Is there anything in Gurbani saying I can’t be a Sikh? Serious question

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Recently I have been getting asked by Naamdharis to show where the Guru ordered that there should be no more Gurus after Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. I told them how the Guru clearly said: "Sabh Sikhan ko hukam hai, Guru maneyo Granth", but they want authentic writings and proof, even though this is a basic accepted fact in the Khalsa Panth. The Naamdharis also ask to show where Gurbani says Sikhs cant have human Gurus after SGGSJ. Siri Guru Granth Sahib Ji clearly says: Fourth Mehl: ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਜੋ ਸਿਖੁ ਅਖਾਏ ਸੁ ਭਲਕੇ ਉਠਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥ One who calls himself a Sikh of the Guru the True Guru shall rise in the early morning hours and meditate on the Lord's Name. ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਭਲਕੇ ਪਰਭਾਤੀ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ਕਰੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਵੈ ॥ Upon arising early in the morning, he is to bathe, and cleanse himself in the pool of nectar. ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਭਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਦੋਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥ Following the Instructions of the Guru, he is to chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har. This definition is also "orthopraxic" as its defined by the active practice, rather than "belief". The SGGSJ doesn't litterally state that its the last Guru for Sikhs, and Namdharis are using this as a loophole. So my question to the Sangat is how do we counter these Naamdhari arguments? If you have any sources on the Guru ordering SGGSJ as the last Guru please send it.

I wrote this after being on the other topic that was made regarding the negative portrayal of a Sikh woman in a Pakistani drama. Here are some of my observations over the years: The portrayal of Sikhs in Pakistani cinema ranges from the sometimes positive to the rather often negative end of the spectrum. One of the first films to be a big hit in Pakistan was based on a fictional Sikh character during the times of partition: Kartar Singh (1959). While initially Kartar is shown as a rogue, he has a change of heart after the Muslim protagonist Umerdeen saves his life. Sikhs were generally shown as ill-mannered drunkards in many films, often without their turbans. Some other films with Sikh characters include Gabroo Putt Punjab De (1969), Balwant Kaur (1975), Chan Veryam (1981), Gernail Singh (1989) and so on. In Veryam (1981) they show the Muslim protagonist saving a Sikh girl from the British while all the Sikhs of the village failed to defend her (including the 'gyani'). Later she runs away to his house and converts to Islam. When her brother finds out and goes after her she gives him a whole speech of seeing the 'light' and inviting him to leave Sikhi as well, a rather demeaning scene that can be seen from 1:47:00 onwards here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XfkiHQViLc. One can't fail but see the constant subconscious need to show Sikh women converting to Islam, be it the films like Veryam (1981) & Larki Punjaban (2003, with a 'twist' in the end to please Sikhs) or TV Drama Bilqees Kaur (2012). Besides that the clear attempts to show the Hindus as scheming villain creating problems between Sikhs and Muslims is also seen in their films. You have to give them credit where its due though, they made a drama on the dark periods of fake police encounters in Indian Punjab. It is called Kesri Painday. A young Pakistani Sikh was also part of the cast.

Thoughts are on what people do when their marriage is troubling and not the greatest feel God has forsaken me

I had put up a support post about an abusive family , which included the women and man being abusive (physically, emotionally and mentally). Thankfully, God me out of the abuse and now I have the gift of doing bani. A few people had asked me for an inkling about how the family were so as not to take a rishta to them. The man is still unmarried. I did not want to gossip but at the same time I didn't want NOT to warn other people. It's been a while now so I'm putting this up just as a warning to other people. DO NOT confront these people. God will deal with them when the time comes I think of all the abuse I suffered, the most painful was complete indifference to Guru Gobind Singh Ji's great sacrifices and the Sahibzaade. I cannot understand how a family that puts up a pretense of culture and self righteousness sees nothing wrong with insulting the Gurus. I was constantly demeaned for praying and he would laugh at the Guru's and say how backwards they were compared to "science". The family lives in derby. The man has 3 sisters of which one is divorced and the other 2 are struggling to stay married. He runs a shop.The mother goes to the Gurdwara and puts up a pretense of being religious. She is the most toxic and a hypocrite. Do not take any rishte to them, they are abusive and a woman's life will get ruined. The mother and sisters are extremely jealous and underachievers (all live in ghettos) so they put down others. The man talks to women on facebook and is secretive (he covers up his tracks) I will ask the mods to delete this post after a while, simply because I don't want any negativity around me anymore or this family to trouble me . Hello, I am currently working on a thesis project for my final year in my architecture course which involves researching a specific character in relation to the Tay River, in this case it is Duleep Singh, who is very much a character who has adopted both his traditional values and those he developed during his stay in the United Kingdom, and more specifically, Scotland. The term "hybrid identity" comes to mind, and I a very much interested in learning more about the Sikh community in Scotland. Are there any rituals, practices, or outlooks you may have that may perhaps contrast or differ from those of Sikhs in other parts of the world? What are some of the issues (if any) of practicing Sikhism in Scotland? What are your thought on Maharaja Duleep Singh? I hope I have asked my questions as sensitively as possible, I hope nothing I have asked or stated has come off as offensive as that is the last of my intentions.

Gurfateh ji I don't feel like we're doing enough for Jaggi. Petitioning and protesting isn't getting us anywhere. The protest in London could hardly be called a protest for a start. 400 people turn up. 1-2 cops. What sort of a protest is that when the police just let you get on with it, don't even bother showing up. Lol it's a joke. They know we're too complaisant. Everyone's contacting their MPs, only a handful have made any sort of statement... 3? 5 max? They just don't give a monkeys. Britain's relationship with india is way too important. In my personal experience , as far as I have seen, sikh men who marry hindu women end up ruining sikhi in their families , as the son ends up being either a mona or sardar with trimmed beard OR even if he's a "gursikh" , he will mix vedic stuff with sikhi and that leads to often underestimated DIRE consequences for the panth as well ! As a child gets its sanskaar from a mother's womb, a hindu mother will invariably give birth to a hindu son, even if he's you know a turbaned guy. Notable examples include harbhajan singh puri , alias , yogi bhajan . We all know the mess he has created for us to clean . I would never ever marry a hindu woman if i had to marry . I would rather marry a muslee (funny how these are the ones stigmatized by the sikh community worldwide while the hindus get an open hand among sikhs) What is this cult created by yogi bhajan .
