  1. waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh I'm sorry if this is a repeat thread, but I couldn't find any conclusive information elsewhere. I'm looking to acquire genuine puratan shastar in India, the likes of 2-3' shamsheer, tegha, khanda, chakra etc. This won't be for a private collection, not would it be sold on for a profit. What are they likely to cost? Sikhs did also use European made/style cavalry sabres, which are readily available as antiques in the UK etc. These can be easily distinguished by use of carbon steel, a western style hilt and issue markings on the blade. Is it possible to find such antiques in India- many thousands would have been in active service in the 19th century? I'm also looking for good Sarbloh wale to copy/reproduce puratan artefacts. Any contacts for humble and rehitwale sikhs would be most appreciated. Address/personal introduction preferred as daas does not have a telephone.
  2. I want to buy a real Khanda or Talwar that is functional in the sense it can actually cut. Which is not stainless steel.
  3. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh ji Anyone in the UK selling shaster?
  4. I'm in the market for a puratan gold work tulwar. Also what are some good sites to get some shastars from online?
  5. Can anyone provide contact information (Facebook, Whatsapp, Phone Number, etc...) For shastar/kirpan makers/sellers in Amritsar? Thank You.
  6. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh, does anyone have any suggestions for where Daas can get high quality kirpans? (Daas would prefer not getting the KhalsaKirpans that cost crazy just because they have some fancy jewels). Does anybody know where to get high quality affordable Kirpans? (Also none of those mass produced shastars as they don't seem as strong).
  7. To quote a portion: 'The seven years, from 1708-1716, which chart the meteoric rise and execution of Banda Singh Bahadur are a testament to the rugged individualism and grit of the Sikhs. They reflect a prominent pattern of Sikh history viz. the ascent, descent and the re-ascent of the Khalsa over it’s foes. As memories of June 1984 loom ever closer, it would be prudent for Sikhs worldwide to reflect upon the revolutions of both Banda and the Sikhs of ’84 and attempt to identify the similarities in both. It is a given that no two movements can ever be fully compared or even contrasted, but a general consensus can always be agreed upon vis-a-vis their effect and ultimate conclusion. The forced demise of Banda Singh’s revolution did not put it’s spirit to sleep; rather it only bolstered the Sikh spirit and the Khalsa continued it’s struggle for sovereignty and religious freedom in the wilderness of the Punjab. Post-’84, the Sikhs failed to derive inspiration from their past and rather focused solely upon the trauma of ’84. As such, their history was brought to a premature conclusion on the events of the aforementioned period. One need only imagine what the result would have been if the post-Banda Sikhs had focused solely upon their treatment at the hands of the Mughals, rather than taking any conducive steps towards preserving themselves from such atrocities in the future.' https://tisarpanthdotcom.wordpress.com/2016/06/03/the-stalwarts-revolution/
  8. An article exploring the true genesis of the Sikh Warrior-Saint ideal. To quote the hypothesis: 'A creature of classic Indic thought, it was hard for Tagore to comprehend that in Nanakian philosophy spiritual freedom naturally leads to political liberty. The Guru criticized the Siddhs, of Tantric Buddhism, for acquiring some spiritual gains but not utilizing them for the betterment of society at large. (6) It is evident, however, that even centuries after the Guru’s edicts were in circulation the odium attached to force and politics were still in power and men like Tagore were their blind prey. What was Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s perspective on force and it’s utilization? In order to truly understand this query, and subsequently manifest an answer, we will approach it from several various directions.' 10. Bansavalinama written in 1769 CE by Kesar Singh Chibber also mentions the celebrating of Dusshera. On the days of Dusshera, worship your weapons. From your mouths you should recite the ballads of Chandi [Chandi Chritars and Chandi Di Vaar]. [Worship your weapons by using] lots of Incense, Gee-lamps, flowers and nice fragrances. 12. Dear Sangat Ji VJKK VJKF, I just want to ask the question that is it mandatory (maryada) for Shastars to be present in front of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Sometimes I have been to some Gurdwaras and sometimes I see gurdwaras on tv and see that Guru Ji is prakash and there are no shastars. I find it strange that Guru Ji is without shastar. Please can others share their experience, if they feel the same way. Also what can be done about this. Thank you, VJKK VJKF

  14. VJKK VJKF Sat Sangat Ji, I had a question regarding using Shastar for training. I train with Shastar regurlarly, and on one occasion one of my friends came over while I was training. I happened to be training with my Sri Sahib/Kirpan that day and when my friend saw me he said that I shouldn't be taking my Kirpaan out of it's case like that because apparently it wants khoon(blood) when you take it out and taking it out for any other reason than bhog is beadbi. I tried telling him that I was only using it to train and that I never start without an Ardas and asking Guru ji for permission but he said I should use a different one other than my kakaar. The probelm is, I need to use my specific Kirpaan because it is the one that is always with me, so if I had to ever take it out for any combat situation (Which I hope never happens) I want to be fully functional and efficeient with my specific Kirpaan. So my question is: Is it beadbi to take out your kirpan for training, and also, does it really want blood when you take it out. VJKK VJKF

  19. VahiGurujikaKhalsaVahiGurujikiPat-h Via the invite of a sangat in East London, Elusive Fighting will be holding an Intro Seminar THIS SUNDAY 4th August - 11am to 3.30pm for those who are looking to seriously learn the traditional 'fighting' arts. Our aim is to promote a 'martial culture' rather than provide simple MA tick box exercise, in that you will inherit and be able to pass on a 'thinking' or 'live' fighting culture to your next generation. This is not sport nor demo orientated. You will learn the art of the sword, stick, knife and hand to hand as per 'extant' fighting cultures. We will also show you how one set of principles is applicable to all scenarios. Kara and Sri Sahib use amongst many other weapons is also taught as per the schools transposable knowledge of the South East Asian Arts. We do not want window shoppers or 'comparors'. Call H Singh on 07967 638212 or email elusivefighting@gmail.com if you would like to attend, we will send you more details. Sri Akaal Ji Sahe
  20. What does Elusive Fighting look like? Click here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=282012048612199&set=vb.432861230092196&type=2&theater Command of Guru Gobind Singh: “Daily, with complete love and concentration, train with (meditate on) your weapons” Confused...? When you hear stories of the old Khalsa being amazing warriors when comparing to the Khalsa you see today...? Are you ready to take the first step and develop Teeth and Claws which makes a Lion/Lioness true to their form? Develop the skills and confidence to defend yourself, your family and your Panth... For those NOT already learning a fighting art (our aim is not to poach or compete with others), if you have the following characteristics, you are invited to learn from the School of Elusive Fighting: Humility Politeness and respect (towards all people, all faiths and all jathebandiyan/sampryada) Dedication Passion Open Mindedness Courage Hard Work Ethic Discipline DISCRETION We teach armed and unarmed fighting based on principles derived from rare traditional fighting systems of South East Asia (predominantly, but not only, Filipino and Chinese). The Sword, Stick and Knife are the basic weapons students learn (we move on to many variations of these i.e. the short staff and fighting axe). We also teach use of the Kara based on elusive fighting. The principles to use each or a combination of the above are one and the same, in essence, the art is very simple, the devil lies in the detail. Footwork, evasion, positioning, fast take downs, nerve/muscle/bone manipulation, multiple opponent and weapons strategies, and internal power generation are the core principles of the art. Street psychology, awareness and the practice of street scenario applications is an integral part of the learning. You will also learn old school traditional fighting exercises to develop fighting energy, fighting flexibility and fighting movement. We specialise in escapes from grabs and hold ups, so this art is highly suitable for females. The art does not rely on the training of strength and speed, but more so, on body mechanics and timing. The classes are kept small and operate as family environments, so full respect for all students is assured. No type of bad behaviour (in or outside of class) is tolerated. Commitment of 1 class a week is required. This means making the class your priority, and re-arranging other social and work issues. This is not a 'MA tick box' or Hobbyist class. It is for serious students only, who wan to invest in a martial inheritance and pass it on to the next generation. Currently classes are held on Saturdays in South London, Hayes and Coventry. We are looking to set up a class in East London once we have enough interest. Central London (London Bridge) classes for Women are held on Wednesday evenings and for Men on Thursday evenings. There is no modern teaching structure i.e. belt/grading system, nor are there any competitions (this is not a sport). Classes are taught using old school methods, very relaxed yet focused atmosphere, and learning is organic (natural). Progress is purely dependant on the students practice. The Teachers aim is not to keep paying students for 20 years, but to teach as quick as the student is willing to learn (with quality). We are not affiliated to any cults, MA school/society, controversial personality or jathebandi. If you are DEADLY SERIOUS and interested in learning, then kindly let us know a little about yourself, your previous martial arts experience and why you would like to learn from us. Drop us an email on: elusivefighting@gmail.com. Please do not contact us ‘out of interest’. We are only interested in speaking to those who are ‘ready’ to commit and learn. 21. How to sharpen your kirpan: {Watch in 720p/1080p) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕਾ ਖਾਲਸਾ ॥ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਕੀ ਫਤਹਿ I've seen a lot of Sikhs wearing dull kirpans, some even have their kirpana welded to the miyan which defeats the purpose of wearing a kirpan. I made a short tutorial for the Sangat so everyone can easily sharpen their kirpana that are ready to use if you ever need to protect yourself in self defense or protect others from harms way. Here is a link to the sharpener I bought, it is perfect for the basic taksali kirpans, but I do not recommend using this for more expensive shastars due to the possibility of chipping. 1095 usually have a chance of shipping whereas spring steels like 5160 do not. Whatever it is, if you've paid a lot for your shastar, don't use this and instead get it sharpened with a belt or a water stone, but for basic kirpans this is perfect: Amazon link, current price 6.50: http://tinyurl.com/lbud6ey The main reason I made this tutorial is because of recent events such as London machete incident, ideally a Singh could have taken those atvaadi down and defended the soldier. It's almost beadbi to carry around a shastar that isn't sharp because you won't be able to use it for even a simple task of cutting a kela, let alone defending against a violent criminal out to harm you, your family or others. Please forward this video and 'like' it if you liked it. If you didn't or thought it could improve, please provide feedback.

    Taksali shastars

Fateh Sangat ji I was wondering where I can get some taksali shastars such as teghas or khandas from India?
  25. Wahe guru ji ka khalsa wheguru ji ke fathe, Just wanted the members of this site to give me there opinions, on the kirpans . I am trying to make an affordable usable and beautiful kirpan for everyday carry. Yes the design is very similar to a popular produced kirpan, honestly he got it right on the design but not on the price.Hand made Damascus/ wootz 1095 carbon steel with 15n20 nickel about 180 layers. The picture with 3 kirpans are made from a single billet and are cut and shaped accordingly. the other two are made of the same material but the handles are pinned and are not one piece of steal. Both blades should be really strong was just figuring out the best way to making them. This is still in the early stages. Will be torture testing these kirpans to make sure they are battle ready weapons. I still not sure about the sheath. I am working on kydex sheaths now still in design phase. But i am hoping to offer these kirpans for $150-180 dollars usa. I am also working on a economical version at about $90 us dollars. Not really a business for me its more of a hobby and side-project. All version will come with kirpan and sheath. Well i am eagar to read your comments. Wahe guru ji ka khalsa wheguru ji ke fathe
