    Hazur Sahib Maryada

Has anyone lived for a considerable time in Hazur Sahib or knows family there. I have heard it is routine for amritdhari sikhs to take alcohol and other drugs? Is this true? Does the Takht Hazur Sahib consider Alcohol as one of the bujjer kuraits? Do almost all Nanded Sikhs take alcohol.
  2. VJKK VJKF Sorry I am not trying to cause any fights but I have a question. I’m not much of a jathebandi guy because high avastha gursikhs are in every jathebandi, but a question popped into my mind. What maryada of preparing Amrit is the one Sahib Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji used? I understand that Sant Jarnail Singh Ji approved of the SGPC rehit maryada, but here’s my problem. Taksali Maryada states that a Shri Sahib has to be kept of the edge of the batta while stirring the Amrit with a khanda in the right hand, and these two are to be passed with the Shri sahib remaining at the edge and the khanda remaining in the Amrit.. SGPC only mentions a khanda being used, and from what I know, Buddha Dal has all of the panj pyare having their shri sahib drawn and on the edge of the batta while one pyara stirs the Amrit with a khanda in their right hand. I also know that SGPC shortens some bani while the Amrit is being prepared. My question is, because I am taking Amrit in a few months time if I don’t fall from my rehit, what jathebandi should I take amrit from? Should I just take amrit from whatever gurdwara is closest and follow their rehit? I am utterly confused at this. Is one type of amrit sanchar parvaan and the other isn’t? Should I just get over differences and just worry on taking amrit? thanks.

  4. Today I see many people mix Punjabi culture things with sikhi. Like I personally think that Bhangra, giddha and other things like this aren’t related to sikhi and aren’t allowed for Sikh to do. People need to understand that being Punjabi is different than being a Sikh. Do u guys think that Bhangra and giddha r forbidden in sikhi?? I wanna hear sum more people’s vichar in this
  5. I was asking this to know what is the best alternate from meat to get sources of Protein? Is it multivitamins, or real food, or some protein shakes and whatnot+
  6. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Sangat Ji, I know there have been many similar posts on this topic (also by myself in the past) however, I had a question. Can Sukha be used in other forms like in hot drink instead of Degh? I know, Shaheedi Degh is Shaheedi Degh but I was having this discussion with someone and it made me think too. Would this method then make it against maryada as it's technically no longer Degh according to the recipe/ingredients and method used to make rugra. If someone with knowledge could reply it would be most appreciated. Akaal!
  7. Hello, I wanted to know does Ardas have to be done standing-up and if Guru Sahib isn't physically present where we are doing ardas, do we have to Mehta Teekh somewhere?
  8. When reading Chandi Di Vaar you should be standing and holding a shastar in your hand. Big or small it does not matter. You could also do it sitting but then you must place your shastar in front of you. It should be read at amritvela and before the sun sets. I like to read path with a jot as a big light is usually to bright. You should use a toof for good smell. You can sit on a blanket which is laid out on floor or a bed. You should have some water near you while reading the path. At the end you should drink it and sprinkle it around. I also recommend doing kirtan of this path witj the sal sangat or listening to it. I recommend reading ugardanti after reading Chandi di Vaar In short you need Shastars Jot Toof Water Full ishnan(including kes) Hopefully this has taught you something about the maryada. (Maryada is the same for Ugardanti and Shastar naam mala and other dasam bani for the most part)
  9. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! A humble request of Daas to Elder gursikhs on the forum to clear my doubts regarding the prakash of guru sahib at my home. NECESSARY CONTEXT I live in India. My father is the only gursikh in my family. My father, mother, grandmother and I do Nitnem everyday but other members are not much into Sikhi. My family is planning to shift within a year or too and we have made a separate room for guru sahib's prakash. I would like know your opinions on the following- 1) We'll live on the third floor and right now, as per my knowledge, the families who will be living on first, second and fourth floors are Sikhs. However, I am not sure about this. If any manmukhi family starts living on any of the floor and brings meat and alcohol in their homes, so would it lead to beadbi? It's actually not in our hands to choose the new families. 2) We have the fourth floor(for residence) and terrace above our floor(third one) and as it is, people would walk on the floor above guru sahib's prakash room. So does it lead to beadbi? 3) Can we make storage spaces under Sukhasan bed for rumaale and bastars(clothes) of guru sahib. 4) Should the height of pida sahib (where guru sahib is virajmaan) and sukhasan bed be higher than our beds 5) Is degh to be prepared everyday? 6) Light clothes in summer and warm clothes in winter for Guru sahib? Heard this is to be followed but Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Ji didn't agree with this. 7) Guru Sahib bastars to be changed everyday? Is room cleaning once a week fine or everyday? 9) What to do in case noone to do prakash of guru sahib or whole family not at home for 2-3 days? *******These are questions in case all other protocols are followed by my family******** 5) Noone in my family knows how to do prakash except my grandmother. Though she loves reading bani and Kirtan but doesn't focus much on Rehat. She does colour her hair, prepares chicken for other family members but doesn't eat, no Amrit Vela, no keski/dastaar. However, she does Nitnem daily. Also, I am too not an amritdhari gursikh but I am trying to follow Rehat as much as I can like having Dastaar all the time, Nitnem, Larivaar Pehra, not eating anything from outside but still eat from hands of non amritdharis (slowly working on it, trying to learn to cook), gurmat ishnaan and necessary sucham, amritvela dhill sometimes etc etc. But, obviously I am not a Sikh right now. Can we manmukhs do prakash Sewa? 6) Only me and my father are really worried about keeping full satkaar of guru sahib and my family doesn't care much about it. Yes, but still they want. I don't want them to watch films and serials in the lobby near prakash room but I don't think they'll listen. Actually, my father is the only gursikh in my family. Noone cares much and is not willing to sacrifice anything for satkaar of guru sahib. They even don't mind bringing meat home. They don't mind shouting and abusing people on the phone when they are completely audible in the prakash room. Noone wears Dastaar except me and my father. Males come with a small cloth on their head and females with a chunni. I seriously don't want guru sahib to come at home because I know we would only do their apmaan (disrespect) but noone cares to listen to this 16 year old kid. My father too doesn't say much to my grandparents and others when they advocate for something wrong. Anyways, I am trying my best to convince them to have senchiaan but Vaheguru knows what will happen. 7) I personally would want to take hukamnaama and do sehaj Paath from Larivaar saroop only but don't have it virajmaan right now. I have persuaded by grandmother, father and mother to take hukamnaama and do sehaj Paath after having full gurmat ishnaan (including Kes). However, they paid a deaf ear to it. Does this lead to serious beadbi ? ? I am strictly in favor of Larivaar Saroop of Maharaj and I have encouraged my parents and grandmother to read banis in Larivaar only and with Guru Sahib's kirpa they have started. I clearly said that if we are all able to develop skills then we would have Larivaar saroop only. But, I don't think they'll let it happen. Daas humbly apologizes at the feet of gursikhs for any mistakes. I am fully devoted towards keeping satkaar of guru sahib and would like to know your opinions. Also, please give me some tips how can I convince my family to not have prakash at home. Already had 3-4 long talks with them where noone had any answer of the wrongs and disrespect they did. But still they take it off by saying 'we'll see'. May guru sahib do kirpa. Bhul chuk di maafi Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

    Extreme byadbi

Last weekend, I attended gurdwara Babe Ke in UK birmingham where around 40-50 Singh Sahibs attended because serious byadbi had occurred. This is the most serious case of byadbi in the world and that is no exagerration. This matter has not received much attention because sangat are worried about the serious concern it will cause, but it has to be aired in the global Sikh panth commuity. It feels like people are trying to cover it up!! Lots of Guru-Sahib-Saroops were kept at the gurdwara in a dark cold room which the committee referred to as a sachkand. The room was ridden with rodents. Bibiya said they found mouse poo in the place where gutkas were stored. There was likelihood this might have been the case with Guru-Sahib-Saroops. The saroops were ripped, pages missing, cellotaped together with parcel tape, had holes in them and it was really an unbearable sight!!! There is an outbuilding which container alcohol bottles, used syringes and cigarettes. There were alcohol bottles around land of gurdwara. upstairs in main gurdwara building I saw ramalas on a concrete floor. many were ripped and covered in dirt. Singhs said that the Gumat block (above sachkand had around 1 inch of rodent and pigeon poo as well as maggots and cockroaches. I have seen photos of this and Singh's might be willing to share with you. my question is why are people trying to cover this up? Contact me and I will try to connect you with the Gursikhs that witnessed all this and who can confirm what happened the persons that were running this gurdwara are responsible for this extreme byadbi. in India when one saroops is abused the whole panth comes together. here not one but dozens of saroops are abused and nobody batting an eyelid. this awareness has to increase and I am making this aware to everyone. the committee responsible for this byadbi CANNOT be forgiven and must be recalled to Akal Takhat to answer for their extreme byadbi. daas Sukhwinder Singh

  12. Sangat Ji, Does anyone know of the correct maryada for disposing of Kes that falls out during combing? I have heard before that burning it is the correct; if so, is there any specific Bani to be read / other maryada points to be aware of whilst doing so? (any historical sources would be extra helpful!) Thanks in advance for your help
  13. WJKK WJKF, thought it would be beautiful if we all could ANONYMOUSLY share the banis we have added to nitnem or how much abhyaas we have, to inspire and be inspired! Feel free to keep identity gupt
  14. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh! I want to ask whether shastar are needed to be parkash'ed in front of Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj when they come to our home for a Sukhmani Sahib or any paatth like in a Gurdwara, or is it optional? What is the basic overall maryada to be followed when Maharaj come to grace our home? (apart from the one that no intoxicants should be in the home, that one I am aware of) Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh!
  15. I got extremely curly hair that is hard to keep un tangled and un knotted. Any one got any tips for keeping curly kesh under control between washes?
  16. Vjkk vjkf ji! Sangat ji I was just wondering why the maryada at harmandir sahib has maharaj jis saroop sitting on only the peedi sahib. In most guru ghar there is a takhat and then a peedi sahib on top where maharaj sits. Is there some ithihasic or maryada as to why it is done this way? Didn't mean to offend in anyway, just curious! Bhul chuk maf karni ji _/\_

  19. A HINDU RELIGION PARLIAMENT WAS ORGANISED BY MR. VIKRAM SINGH YADAV AT SHREE KRISHNA MANDIR, GURGAON WHERE MANY PROMINENT RELIGIOUS PERSONALITIES LIKE MAHAMANDLESHWARS, JAGADGURU SHANKRACHARYA ji PARTICIPATED. SIKHS WERE REPRESENTED BY NAMDHARI GURU THAKUR DALIP SINGH ji IN THIS VERY PARLIAMENT. SINCE THAKUR DALIP SINGH JI DEEMS HINDU SIKHS AS REAL BROTHERS WHICH CANNOT BE SEPARATED. HE MADE A CALL FOR HINDU SIKH UNITY TO ALL THE PARTICIPATING SAINTLY PERSONALITIES. THE PROMINENT ASPECT OF THE PARLIAMENT WAS THAT EVEN BEING A HINDU RELIGION PARLIAMENT, VOICES OF "JO BOLE SO NIHAL – SAT SRI AKAL", "WAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA – WAHEGURU JI KI FATEH" REVERBRATED ALONG WITH "HAR HAR MAHADEV" & "JAI SHRI RAM" AT THE VENUE. THE MAIN BENEFIT OF THAKUR DALIP SINGH PARTICIPATING IN THIS HINDU PARLIAMENT WAS THAT ALL THE PROMINENT HINDU RELIGIOUS PERSONALITIES TOOK THE NAMES OF SIKH GURUS WITH GREAT RESPECT & HEAPED PRAISES ON SIKH GURUS. THAKUR DALIP SINGH JI MADE AVERY NICE PROPOSITION WHICH WAS ACCEPTED WITH GAIETY BY ALL PRESENT. THAKUR DALIP SINGH JI PROPOSED THAT THE "GURPURAB" CELEBRATIONS OF SATGURU NANAK DEV JI, SATGURU TEG BAHADUR JI & SATGURU GOBIND SINGH JI SHOULD BE CELEBRATED IN ALL HINDU ASHRAMS & TEMPLES. THIS PROPOSAL WAS ACCEPTED WITH GAIETY BY ALL PROMINENT HINDU SEERS AND THEY ASSURED THAT THEY WILL CELEBRATE "GURPURABS" OF SIKH GURUS. THIS IS A VERY BIG ACHIEVEMENT FOR SIKH RELIGION. THE APPROVAL OF PROPOSITION SUGGESTING CELEBRATION OF "GURPURABS" BY PROMINENT HINDU SEERS & THEIR ASSURANCE FOR THE SAME PROVES THAT THOSE SIKHS WHO OPPOSE HINDUS BY DECLARING THEM "ANTI-SIKH" , IF THEY START TREATING THEM ( HINDUS ) WITH LOVE, THEN HINDUS WILL ALSO START PLACING FAITH IN SIKH GURUS. ONLY SIKHS ARE TRYING TO KEEP THE HINDUS AWAY. AS THAKUR DALIP SINGH JI IS BRINGING THE HINDUS CLOSER BY SHOWERING THEM WITH LOVE, THEY (HINDUS) WILL SOON START PLACING THEIR FAITH IN SIKH GURUS AND THIS WILL LEAD TO HINDU SIKH UNITY. HINDU SIKH UNITY WILL FURTHER STRENGTHEN OUR NATION BECAUSE ONLY AND OND UNITY IN SOCIETY CAN MAKE A COUNTRY PROSPERROUS.
  20. WJKK WJFK Is there a posted maryada of Shastar Prakash? I want to set one up but want to know the procedures before doing so. WJKK WJKF
  21. Waheguru ji Ka khalsa, waheguru ji ki fateh, Does anyone know of the Ardas done at sachkand Sri hazoor sahib, if so could you reply with a romanised version with the names of the gurdwareh mentioned in the ardas, thanks Bhul chuk maf Karo ji
  22. Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh, After doing much itihaas i have found it that the darshan of Sri Dasam and Sarbloh Darbar is of utmost importance for the sake of the chardikala of the Sikh panth alongside Satguru Granth sahib ji maharaj. What can be done in the uk and in sangats across the world to install sri Dasam granth and Sarbloh Granth as seen in Takht Sri Hazoor sahib were the maryada of the tisarpanth seems to be alive and well aswell as shastar darshan. Can those of us that believe this to be an important issue do anything to create change? The majority of non amritdharis seem to think that we only have one granth which sadness me. Our connection to Dasam pita seems to be cut when the majority of sikhs are ignorant on these traditions What can be done? Bhull chukk maaf karo, A manmukh.
  23. I consider myself fortunate to live in same state as hazur sahib . Hazur sahib is 12 hour drive from my home and 9 hour by train journey. Hope to visit it soon . But before that I have a few questions on the different maryada in hazur sahib, and in the way the sikhs there worship. 1) Why does the main sewadar singh (currently Bhai Kulwant Singh ji) wrap a sheet of cloth around their body over their chola ? What is the meaning of it ? Its very much like nirmala sikh, except the sewadar singh wears a decorative one 2) Why do they hold what looks to me like an arrow with mini-kirpan head while doing ardas and later take wash it in water from godavari river and add that "blessed water" to kadah prasad ? 3) Why does the door to inner chamber (angitha sahib) is opened only after ardas at around 6 am in the morning and after ardas as the door is opened, the singh who did ardas rings bells vigorously with both hands . What is significance of this ? 4) Why does the singh in above pic (the main sewadar) once come outside the angitha sahib, lowers the purdah and rings bell , then once again lifts the purdah and goes in again . What is meaning of this ? I get a live telecast from hazur sahib on tv . I tend to wake up at 5.30 just to see all of this rituals, but I never understand what do they mean and whence they're doing it ? With all due respect to Sri Hazur sahib and maryada.
  24. He has a valid point, worth listening to it..
