  1. I was asking this question because of the assumption that morality is subjective, (except Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji message). Also, Gurbani also says "ਏਕ ਨੂਰ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਕਉਨ ਭਲੇ ਕੋ ਮੰਦੇ ॥੧॥ एक नूर ते सभु जगु उपजिआ कउन भले को मंदे ॥१॥ Ėk nūr ṯe sabẖ jag upji▫ā ka▫un bẖale ko manḏe. ||1|| From the One Light, the entire universe welled up. So who is good, and who is bad? ||1|" (Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Ang 1349), also I've heard from many Kathas that good Karams don't cancel bad Karams, (only Naam and Bani can do that, with Gurprassad). So is there any difference from good or bad Karma?
  2. WJKKWJKF Is it acceptable to throw in the garbage/recycle the pamphlets(advertising material) that usually has some gurbani words/verses printed on it? If not, what should be done. Please advise.

  4. There was, a while ago, a rather heated debate about if its important to make a distinction between the names of god and those which are given to Hindu Deities. Which reading some really amazing articles by various intellects I came across a really good quote which should put the whole thing to rest. the link is here, for some reason I'm unable to post the Gurmukhi so https://searchgurbani.com/guru_granth_sahib/ang/1374/line/58656 A distinction is of the utmost importance, one needs to meditate on the Primordial Lord when using names such as Bhaugauti, Kalika, Ram etc. As Bhagat Ji beautifully put it, one is present in all, the other is only contained within himself.
  5. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! Daas really wanted to know why some people misinterpret Gurbani to fill their own needs? This happens a lot especially by Liberal Sikhs; which Daas sometimes notices on this website. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!
  6. Been notified by this organisation on FB thought I'd forward the info http://courses.sikhia.org/courses/grammar-of-gurbani
  7. Plz feel free to do more search on Mangal Dhillon, as there are more parts and videos in punjabi as well
  8. I was walking home when I found MANJIT WEEKLY newspaper on the street with Gurbani on it and people were stepping on it, so I picked it up. I think newspapers should stop printing Gurbani because no one knows what people end up doing with the newspaper. What do you guys think, is it okay to print?
  9. How do I save Gurbani in iPhone or iPad and then transfer it to play in car? I know of iTunes which one has to pay for, but how about Soundcloud? Can it be transferred from Soundcloud? And there's Mymusic, but don't really want to go through the credit card filling in bit. The car does not have CarPlay, so that option won't work. Any other methods or ideas please? Lightning cable, how does that work ? Sorry not read up on it properly yet.

    Sikhs And Dating?

Can anyone tell me exactly why Sikhs can't date other Sikhs? (If you are from the same religion it shouldn't be a problem). Also if we keep our Rehats during the relationship, wouldn't it help find a suitable partner in the future. Keeping the basic rules of no Adultery and kissing and all that junk. Also I'd like either Rehat Maryada or Gurbani views on this, if it even mentions it.
  11. I was asking this because I wanted to know why Vaheguru sometimes doesn't listen to Ardas? (And other times does) even though he can hear the Ardas and knows what's going on.
  12. PM underlines message of harmony on Guru Nanak Jayanti Guru Nanak Jayanti also known as Gurpurab & Prakash Utsav marks the birthday of the first Sikh Guru Guru Nanak Press Trust of India | New Delhi November 25, 2015 Last Updated at 16:00 IST Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the Gurbani Recital on the occasion of the 547th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji at Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre in New Delhi. Photo: PTI On the occasion of Guru Nanak's birthday, Prime MinisterNarendra Modi today underlined the message of harmony and compassion propagated by the founder of Sikhism, a message that assumes significance in the midst of "intolerance" debate. "On Guru Nanak Jayanti, my greetings to everyone. Guru Nanak Dev's message of service, compassion and harmony inspire eternally," Modi tweeted. The Prime Minister's message assumes significance in view of the "intolerance" debate, which has been further fueled by film star Aamir Khan's remarks that he was "alarmed" by a number of incidences and his wife Kiran Rao had wondered if they should move out of India. Guru Nanak Jayanti also known as Gurpurab and Prakash Utsav marks the birthday of the first Sikh Guru Guru Nanak. It is one of the most sacred festivals in Sikhism and is celebrated by Hindus also with equal fervour. On Guru Nanak Jayanti, my greetings to everyone. Guru Nanak Dev's message of service, compassion & harmony inspire eternally. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) November 25, 2015
  13. Waheguru ji ka khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh ji. I would like to know if there is anyone who can give me online Gurbani santhia (Taksal) over the skype. There are a number of videos online, but I am looking for someone to do mehnat with and help me with my santhia. It would be great if someone can help me with this. Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki fateh ji
  14. Can anyone explain what Chand Di Vaar is about? I tried looking at the meanings but it was still hard. (I appreciate anyone's assistance). I also posted this on Dasam Granth.

    Bir Ras?

What exactly is Bir Ras suppose to do? Does it make people stronger than they are physically suppose to be? (If the GurSikhs hadn't had Gurbani or something, it would be very hard to face an army a lot bigger). What I'm trying to say is what's the difference between Nam Ras?
  16. I was wondering what the length of Rehras Sahib was especially since different people end it at different times.

    Amrit Vela

Does anyone know how we can wake-up early at Amrit Vela?
  18. Dear Sadh Sangat Ji, I just realised that I was using apps - Gurbani Nirvaan and Gurbani Ujagar which use English translation from Dr Sant singh Khalsa. There is a particular line which was with the wrong meaning. However there are other lines which have not been translated correctly. Please kindly inform all your relatives and friends. Refer to this thread. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/77736-is-this-translation-correct-please-explain-whywhy-not/ and also Suṇ galā ākās kī kītā ā▫ī rīs. 1. Hearing of the etheric realms, even worms long to come back home. Suṇ galā ākās kī kītā ā▫ī rīs. 2. By hearing celestial things even worms (the vile) wish to emulate. The No 1 states that worms wish to come home whereas Gurbani clearly states the word riis.... which means to copy. This means that the first meaning is wrong. We need to sort this out as this is a major problem of us and our youth getting the wrong meanings of Gurbani. The wrong translations have been used and distributed far and wide with the use of apps. These need to be corrected. Only God knows how many other wrong translations of the bani have been done. Please be alert and inform as many people as possible especially the people who make those apps.
  19. How would you describe Bapu Surat Singh Ji's Situation with gurbani? If you desire to play this game of love with Me, Then step onto My Path with your head in hand. When you place your feet on this Path, Give Me your head, and do not pay any attention to public opinion. ||20||
  20. http://www.sikhsangat.com/index.php?/topic/77823-your-views-on-eating-meat/#entry642614 It didn't seem to have to get banned, I'm sure ramghariasingh was just asking a simple question which could help him with life decisions.
  21. Can someone give a better explainantion to this 2 shabads. Maalee Gauraa, The Word Of Devotee Naam Dayv Jee: ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥ One Universal Creator God. 22. Fateh . . . The Banis which are in the nitnem are in the Guru Granth Sahib ji Japji Sahib, Anand Sahib, Rehras Sahib, and Kirtan Sohila. When we recite Japji Sahib, and Anand Sahib we also read the Salok at the end “Pavan Guru Pani Pita….” We also read this Salok at various other times such as Bhog, and reading of many banis. 1. Why do we read this salok at the end, as it does not follow the way it is in Sri Guru Granth Sahib? 2. For Kirtan Sohila some places such as Nanaksar read the salok, but then why do we not read this at the end of Rehras Sahib? Just curious to find out… Appreciate guidance. Fateh..
  23. This is a real incident. In Delhi, a girl had some health issues. Something came to her mind and she asked her father if they can have Guru Granths sahib ji’s parkash and path at home. Father said why not and this was scheduled. The girl listened to the whole path with true love and faith, when it was at the end, she thought I have heard that if you listen to bani with love, your mental and physical pains are vanished, but I am still the same. At that moment, the girl got sick, suddenly started throwing up, and bunches of “keerhe” came out from her stomach and she re-covered. This is the power of Gurbani, if we are true in paying attention.
  24. Any videos or books to learn gurbani vyakaran so I can do arths myself. Preferably not a missionary source. Maybe something from DDT.
