  1. So, I have heard this thing that the Golden Temple will be attacked 4 times and when it is attacked for the fourth time kalki avtar will come or khalsa raj will happen. No. It will not happen. The Golden Temple has been attack once (You could say twice as once they filled the water with sand) by the Mughals. Twice by the Afghans. And once by India right? Wrong India attacked the Golden Temple 3 times all in 5 years. This is 6 times and I see no Kalki avtar or khalsa raj. So in conclusion this story allegedly in historical granths and sau sakhi also mentioned by some kathavachiks is completely fake.
  2. wgjkkwgjkf I am a very foolish person who is asking this question plz forgive me but I really need to know why is golden temple, Sachkhand harmandir shaib washed with milk, I hope you wise people can help me get an really answer , most people say is it pure, but isn't that an hindu thing, also aothers say its organic but why milk shouldn't they uses the best organic solutions to learn shiri Darbar shaib. As far as I'm concerned, I feel the cultural aspect is from the belief that the milk is pure....which can probably related to the fact that the animal that milk is derived from is considered holy in India. but isn't Sikhi against Pakhandi Indian conditions I'm in no way Hindu-phobic, but there is absolutely no sense in washing in milk. If it was because water is polluted; is that the case with the sarovar in Darbar Sahib as well? They wash the parkarma with water.. don't they? There is absolutely no sense in washing it in milk, and there is nothing to substantiate that this is the way things were, just like people refuse allowing bibis to do kirtan in Darbar Sahib because "that's the way they used to do it." Not realising that a lot of these traditions came under the masands. what is the SGPC doing ,why do I feel they are doing everting wrong such as giving saropas to people like Badal, misusing the goalk, mistreating there employs for speaking the truth such as firing them. what is happening Again, if purity is the issue - why not use non-chemical based (or chemical based for that matter!) soap - it will clean it a lot better than milk - if that's the issue. That's not the issue. I know people will get upset at me for saying this... if purity is the reason - why can we not use soap? please someone explain im a very foolish dumb person I have no knoll age but plz someone tell me There is no reason to use milk - and no proof that that's the way they did in the "Puratan times." You may quote any baba jees you want, but as far as I'm aware, no rehitnama nor any other ithasic literature mentions milk being required to wash marble or anything else. plz prove me wrong can someone tell me the reason If anything the rehit maryada condemns the belief I kuchi lassi being significance in the chapter on anand karaj, where they reject the use of kuchi lassi in old traditions (like dipping feet in it as it was done.) I ONLY respresent my own opinion on this issue, and don't represent any organisation, but my support is simply "akli sahib seviye..." to use our common sense, and the Akal Thakhat Maryada.jkdff I'm very sorry I have ,made many mistakes plz try to forgive me if it possible I am just wanted to know the answer so plz forgive me as wgjkkwgf
  3. does anyone know if bhai gurcharan singh hazoori ragi does he still does kirtan iv been looking for him for ages and I cant find anything but the old clips is he still Alive I really want information ,I miss he's kirtan at Darbar shaib and iv never seen him on tv or anywhere I hope he is okay I miss listing to him but I'm kind of worried and I want to know if he still does kirtan what happened plz can someone tell me im worried. bi

  5. AMRITSAR SAHIB – A Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) langar sewadar accidentally fell into container full of boiling water in the kitchen of the Guru Ram Das Langar Hall at Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) on Monday. The victim, Charanjit Singh, 50, of Chattiwind locality working as langari (cook) in the kitchen, received 70 percent burn injuries. While stirring ‘kheer’ on a furnace, Charanjit observed some impure particles of sugar on the surface. When he tried to take out the particles, he lost his balance and fell in the big vessal (karaha). SGPC staff and devotees in the vicinity pulled him out of the container immediately but he was scalded and suffered 70% burns. He was rushed to the SGPC-run Guru Ram Das Charitable Hospital. “Charanjit’s condition is said to be critical. He is in the Intensive Care Unit. The next 24 hours are critical for him as there are chances of infection. We are making efforts to provide him the best treatment. Kirpal Singh Badungar, SGPC president, has announced free treatment for him,” said Sulakhan Singh, Manager, Darbar Sahib. 6. http://singhstation.net/2017/06/harmandir-sahib-langar-cooking-solar/ AMRITSAR SAHIB – In a bid to reduce air pollution, The SGPC has planned to switch over to solar energy at the Guru Ram Das Langar Hall (community kitchen) soon to cook langar in the world’s largest kitchen at the Golden Temple in Amritsar. At present, at Sri Guru Ramdas Langar Hall, liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and wooden sticks are used as fuel for cooking langar for about 60,000 devotees on a daily basis. The number increases during weekends and special occasions. Mumbai-based Enpar Group, a private company, has volunteered to donate the solar energy system worth Rs. 1 crore to the Golden Temple through the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA).
  7. DID The SAS kill at Amritsar? Foreign Office hastily recalls files 'detailing UK role' in notorious Indian army crackdown on Sikhs Papers released by Whitehall this summer have been recalled amid fears they contain details of UK military assistance to India at Amritsar in 1984 Note was found by a researcher working at the Kew Archives Sikh Federation has called for a second investigation into UK involvement By Rebecca Taylor For Mailonline Published: 09:56, 4 November 2016 | Updated: 08:03, 5 November 2016 Prime Ministers of Indira Gandhi of India and Margaret Thatcher of Britain shown here at Delhi Airport in 1981 Dozens of files were pulled from the National Archives amid fears they detail British involvement in the Indian Army's attack on Amritsar in 1984. Papers were released from Whitehall to the National Archives this summer but recalled abruptly after the Sikh Federation wrote to Boris Johnson to tell him they had found 'delicate information' relating to 'UK military assistance to India'. A note, seen by the MailOnline, found by a researcher reportedly referred to the possibility of SAS involvement after 'an Indian request for military assistance in the setting up of a National Guard for internal security duties'. The note was written by a civil servant in the Foreign Office's South Asia department in July, 1984, and was copied to Ministry of Defence official and the high commissioner in Delhi. Hundreds of people were killed on June 6, 1984 when Indian troops stormed the Golden Temple at Amritsar, which was being held by a Sikh group. The three-day siege saw the Indian Army storm the Golden Temple to flush out the group and arrest Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale a Sikh leader and his followers. The Golden Temple in Amritsar India. In 1984 it was the scene of an assault by the Indian Army as they sought to flush out Sikh separatists As a result, Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards following the bloodbath. Nearly 3,000 people were subsequently killed in retaliatory riots against the Sikhs. In 2014, it was revealed that Britain may have had a role in Operation Blue Star, which sent shockwaves through India and the Sikh community. A review called for by David Cameron was criticised as having too narrow a scope, and concluded that the UK provided expert military advice after an urgent request from the Indian Intelligence Co-Coordinator. Margaret Thatcher with Indira Ghandi in the early 1980s. The Sikh Federation claims there is growing evidence of Thatcher's involvement with the Indian government before Operation Blue Star After the discovery of the 'delicate information' in the archives, human rights lawyers have written to the Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on behalf of the Sikh Federation asking for another review. The call comes shortly before Prime Minister Theresa May's diplomatic visit to India next week. A statement released on the Sikh Federation's Twitter said: 'On the eve of her critical trade visit to India, she [Mrs May] is being pressured to come clean about the role played by the SAS in the Sikh genocide in the 1980s. 'There is increasing evidence that Margaret Thatcher's administration worked more closely with the Indian government than was known at the time. 'Vital new documents have been removed from the National Archives. 'There should be a full, independent investigation into these matters.' A government spokesman for the Foreign Office said: 'The FCO borrowed some of their files from 1984 that were released to the National Archives so they could read the content following concerns raised by the Sikh Federation. They will return all the files in full shortly. 'The issue of SAS advice prior to Operation Blue Star was dealt with in the 2014 report by the Cabinet Secretary. These files contain nothing about this incident.' ================================== http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3904460/DID-SAS-kill-Amritsar-Foreign-Office-hastily-recalls-files-detailing-UK-role-notorious-Indian-army-crackdown-Sikhs.html

  10. Amritsar – To provide an unhindered view to the Golden Temple and the Ramgarhia Bungas (towers) in the backdrop, the state government has initiated work to remove an overhead water tank. Ever since the live telecast of Gurbani started from Sri Harmandir Sahib, the water tank in the backdrop of the two observation towers of Bunga Ramgharhia looked like an eyesore and the devotees watching the live telecast were irked by the sight of water tank constructed in the Galiara in 1988. Visible from the Golden Temple parikarma, the tank lies between the bungas. The 135-ft-high overhead tank was the first to be targeted by the tanks firing from the Sultanwind gate side before the army stormed the shrine in June, 1984 Operation Bluestar and was reconstructed in 1988 to store municipal water. In 2011, then Deputy Commissioner KS Pannu had also sought to dismantle it, but work could not be started as there was no follow-up action. The government has now entrusted the task to the Amritsar Development Authority (ADA). Underground ducts have been constructed to redirect sewage and water supply lines to make the tank defunct. Since the tank is located near a market, all shops have been ordered to remain close till the dismantling work is on. The shopkeepers have been offered Rs 25,000 per month as compensation. Sandeep Rishi, chairman, ADA, said special remote-controlled equipment and cutters had been engaged to dismantle concrete slabs that were being removed with the help of a crane. “The tank had eclipsed the view of the Golden Temple. The tourists generally enquire about the significance of Bungas, but it becomes difficult to tell them about the tank that stands between the Bungas. “This was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister who directed us to do away with the tank. It will take us two months to complete the job. We have adopted a special diamond-cutting technique ,” he said. As part of the increased security, the cloak room (gathri ghar) has been shifted from the temple complex and bags, pouches and big camera cases have been banned inside the sanctum sanctorum. Police have also deployed extra forces in the vicinity of Golden Temple and sarais. Golden Temple manager Partap Singh told TOI on Tuesday that gathri ghar situated near parikarma was shifted towards Aata Mandi outside the complex, besides other security measure like ban on handbags. Amritsar police commissioner J S Aulakh said that a few days ago, the SGPC manager had received an anonymous threat call, demanding money. "The caller didn't inform how and where the cash was to be delivered," he said. Aulakh said the security deployment around Golden Temple and all the sarais have been strengthened. The management of Golden Temple had also taken several steps to augment the security. Intelligence sources said heavy contingent of policemen and sleuths of intelligence bureau had been deployed around the shrine. SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said the ban on handbags inside Golden Temple has been imposed on the basis of certain inputs. Under the circumstances, it becomes imperative to take preventive measures, he said. The management had also installed CCTVs in parikarma. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/City/Chandigarh/Security-tightened-around-Golden-Temple/articleshow/42657873.cms Hindi news media also reported it: http://www.bhaskar.com/news/PUN-AMR-enhanced-security-of-the-golden-temple-4747382-NOR.html http://www.chandigarh.amarujala.com/news/city-news-chd/punjab-amritsar-golden-temple-threat-hindi-news/
  12. http://www.tapoban.org/webforum/read.php?1,6465 Foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib: Sri Guru Arjan Dev or Sai Mian Mir? Taken from “Sri Harimandar Sahib Sunehri Itihaas” published by Dharam Parchaar Committee SGPC Translated by Admin www.tapoban.org Foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib Sri Guru Arjan Dev jee and Baba Buddha jee consulted with the leading Sikhs of the time and set a day for setting the foundation stone of Sri Harimandar Sahib. A great congregation took place of 1 Maagh, 1654 Bk. The Sarovar had been drained in preparation and the divaan took place in the sarovar itself. Sri Guru jee explained the meaning of Harimandar and the importance. After distributing karah parshaad and invoking the first four Satgurus, Baba Buddha jee asked Guru Arjan Dev jee to place the first brick. Sri Guru Arjan Dev jee with his hands then placed the first brick: ਇਮਿ ਅਰਦਾਸ ਕਰੀ ਿਬ੍ਰਧ ਜਬੈ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਅਰਜਨ ਕਰ ਪੰਕਜ ਤਬੈ॥੧੩॥ ਗਹੀ ਈਟ ਤਿਹ ਕਰੀ ਿਟਕਾਵਨ। ਮੰਦਰ ਅਿਵਚਲ ਨੀਵ ਰਖਾਵਨ। (Gurpartap Suraj Ras 2, Ansu 53). It is clear that Gurpartap Suraj Granth says that Sri Guru Arjan laid the foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib with his own hands. Why the Confusion? The first Sikh historian to write otherwise was Giani Gian Singh. In the third Lahore edition of Sri Gur Panth Parkash, he writes that Mian Mir placed the brick. What is odd is that Giani jee in the first edition of Panth Parkash (published in Delhi, 1936Bk.) and in the second edition (published in Amritsar, 1946Bk) does not say who placed the first brick. Only in the third Lahore edition does he say that Mian Mir placed the first brick but does not say where he has learned this from nor does he give any reference. From the foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib to the writing of Panth Parkash, 300 years had passed. None of the writers of Gurbilas Patshahi 6, Gurbilas Patshahi 10, Mehma Parkash (1776), Bansavalinama, Gurkirat Parkash (1812), Suraj Granth nor Pracheen Panth Parkash by Rattan Singh Bhangu had indicated that Mian Mir was involved in laying the foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib. Further, none of the Muslim writers who have written biographies of Mian Mir have written that he laid the foundation. This is odd because they would have been very proud to note such a fact. It seems clear that the story of Mian Mir laying the foundation is imaginary. Butay Shah: Beginning the Myth Principal Satbir Singh has written that the first person to write about Mian Mir having laid the foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib was Butay Shah (real name Ghulam Muhaiyuddin) in his book “Tavarikh-i-Punjab.” Butay Shah was a Muslim Maulvi. He writes, “Shah Mian Mir came to Amritsar at the invitation of Sri Guru Arjan Dev jee and with his holy hands, placed four bricks in the four directions and one in the middle.” A hand-written copy of this work says that it was written in 1848AD. The British were in control of Punjab at that time. No Sikh or non-Sikh writer had written about Mian Mir before this time. How did Butay Shah find his information? He has not given any source. The method he outlines of how the foundation was laid is also unusual and has not been seen or read anywhere before. Bhai Rattan Singh Bhangoo writes about Butay Shah in Pracheen Panth Parkash. Rattan Singh had found out that the British had hired Shah to write the Khalsa’s history in Persian. He protested that a Maulvi would not do justice to Sikh history because there had always been tension/conflict between Hindus and Sikhs and the Moslems and they spoke against each other. Giani Gian Singh also writes about the above incident. He writes how Rattan Singh and Cpt. Murray discussed the issue and Rattan Singh told him that Sikh history written by a Maulvi would be of harm to the Sikhs and he did not write the truth. He told Murray that each person could write about his own religion for which he was knowledgeable but he could not write about another’s religion properly especially in the case where there was conflict between the respective religions. He said clearly to Murray after seeing the history written by Butay Shah, “he will write history in a way that will harm the Singhs.” And also “how will he write the truth? He will write what is the opposite.” (Sri Guru Panth Parkash Poorbaardh Bisram dooa)“ After this, Rattan Singh wrote Panth Parkash and gave it to Cpt. Murray. Murray kept both Panth Parkash and Tavarikh-i-Punjab with him. Rattan Singh did not however write in Panth Parkash who placed the foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib. Clearly from what Rattan Singh told Cpt. Murray, he saw that Maulvi Butay Shah was writing Sikh history in a twisted and inaccurate way. Which Account is Authentic? Accepting Butay Shah’s statement that Mian Mir placed the foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib, Sohan Lal Suri in his book Umda-Tu-Tavarikh (1885 AD) repeated the same thing. In the same way, the Amritsar Municipal Corporation in their record for 1849 to 1885 seem to have relied on Butay Shah and recorded Mian Mir as having placed the foundation. Before all these, Kavi Santokh Singh wrote in Gurpartap Sooraj Granth (1900BK) that Guru Arjan had placed the foundation. Bhai Santokh Singh had received his training at Sri Amritsar Sahib from Bhai Sant Singh. Bhai Sant Singh used to do Katha every day at Sri Darbar Sahib. Before him, his brother Giani Gurdas Singh and their father, Bhai Surat Singh used to do this seva at Sri Harimandar Sahib. Bhai Surat Singh’s ustad was Bhai Gurbaksh Singh, who had received his training in Gurmat and Sikh history from Bhai Mani Singh jee himself. Bhai Mani Singh jee had been in the Guru’s service since the time of Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib. Bhai Sahib’s grand father, Bhai Baloo jee was a Sikh of Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib and was shahid in the Battle of Amritsar in 1691Bk. Bhai Mani Singh jee must have known from his grandfather and father about the foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib and certainly must have been told by the seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth Guru of the same. Bhai Mani Singh passed on his knowledge to Bhai Gurbaksh Singh, who then passed the knowledge to Bhai Surat Singh who educated his two sons, Bhai Gurdas Singh and Bhai Sant Singh. It was from Bhai Sant Singh that Kavi Santokh Singh learned of the foundation of Sri Harimandar Sahib. It is clear that Kavi Santokh Singh’s knowledge is more reliable than that of Butay Shah. Butay Shah and Sohan Lal Suri do not have even a distant relationship with Sri Harimandir Sahib nor did their ancestors have any link. It is clear that these writers have not relied on anything besides their own imaginations. In fact, Butay Shah and Sohan Lal Suri’s accounts do not match between themselves. Butay Shah writes that four bricks were placed in the four directions and one in the middle. He then writes that Mian Mir was invited to Amritsar by Guru Arjan Dev jee. Sohan Lal writes however that Guru jee himself went to Lahore and invited Mian Mir to place the foundation of Harimandar Sahib in Amritsar. There is no further mention of whether Mian Mir came to Amritsar and whether he placed one or five foundation bricks. In a court of law, where the statements of the witnesses don’t match, they are not given any credence. Therefore the writings of Butay Shah and Sohan Lal cannot be accepted, especially since they have both been written after Gurpartap Suraj Granth. Dr. Madanjit Kaur on the Issue Sikh historian Dr. Madanjit Kaur writes in “The Golden Temple: Past and Present, “According to the earliest Sikh tradition, the foundation stone of the Harmander was laid by Guru Arjan himself. A mason, so goes the story, accidentally displaced the brick (the foundation stone). On seeing this, the Guru prophesized that the foundation would be laid again in the near future. This version of Bhai Santokh Singh is carried by almost all subsequent Sikh sources right up to the twentieth century ….” The author further writes: “The story of Mian Mir having laid foundation of Harmander appears amongst the Persian sources for the first time in Bute Shah’s, ‘Tawarikh-I-Punjab’… The real objective of the author (Bute Shah) was to eradicate any chance of animosity between Sikhs and Muslims after fall of Sikh Kingdom…” “The first recorded reference to this version in European sources is to be met immediately in, “The Punjab notes and queries”. It records: ‘The foundation stone was laid by Mian Mir...’ The contributor of the entry, E. Nicholl, (Secretary, Municipal Committee, Amritsar) does not cite any authority, he merely states the facts”. Renowned Sikh historian, S. Piara Singh Padam also accepts that Sri Guru Arjan Dev jee laid the foundation. He writes “Mian Mir was barely 36-37 years old at the time. Only after considerable meditation did he finally (later in life) become so respected.” Therefore it is clear that the foundation Sri Harimandar Sahib was laid by Sri Guru Arjan Dev jee. The myth of the foundation being laid by Sai Mian Mir is a fabrication of the mid 19th Century.
  13. Alleged Atrocities Committed by War Criminal Brar in June 1984 Attack on The Golden Temple A cursory glance at the more heavily GOI propagandised Indian newspapers, shows that opposition by the Indian National Congress Party (itself, by no means united on this issue), to the memorial to the martyrs of the June 1984 attack on Shree Harimandir Sahib, shows no signs of abating anytime soon. When considered with the wider perspective of a minor alleged assault on Brar, the hysteria eagerly whipped up by collaborating media about the memorial is a sure way of deflecting attention away from its self-created problems that threaten to topple its government. It is a tried, tested and proven method of scaring the Indian electorate into allowing Congress to retain its loose grip on a population that is day by day losing confidence in its ability to properly utilise the vast funds available for its disposal (as the GOI). At least, that is, to the benefit of anyone other than its senior ministers and their families(!) See "Robert Vadra" and "Salman Khurshid" (for a couple of more recent shambles out of the broader series of illicit dealings to emerge from the corrupt Congress machine). Revelations about rampant corruption within the Congress Party are now emerging so fast that a new exposee emerges before the last had any time to settle down. It must be ruing the day Anna Hazare came out of nowhere to emerge as its nemises. The way things stand, Congress looks set to receive a humiliating drubbing at the next polls. Its UPA allies are already withdrawing support and we haven't even reached election time. Amidst this backdrop, it becomes clear why the Congress Party is reverting to its yellowy divisive and diversionary politics of yesteryear (think "Indira" and "Rajiv"). Its desparation will only increase as it approaches the Elections, so expect to see more of the same. That's why I see the minor alleged assault on Brar as part of the above struggle to retain power. Therefore, I am not too concerned with the Congress Party controlled Indian media spin on Brar. The truth will out. And to an extent, much of it already has. Let the investigation reveal the rest. I have read some excellent articles by several commentators, not least by T Sher Singh, Dal Khalsa and SF-UK, which in my opinion are the best pieces of analysis I have read on the topic, that have already comprehensively taken Brar's allegations apart to pieces and ripped his continuously changing story to shreds. Enough has probably already been said about the Brar alleged minor "assault" episode/stunt.
  14. WJKK WJKF, Sangat ji I had a really quick question. Haven't posted on here in a while due to some personal issue that I was trying and still trying to deal with. Anyways, I was reading the Hukamnama from Harmandar Sahib today and read the translation as well but I'm still not understanding what it is saying. Can anyone translate it to me so I can understand it better? Thanks a lot!
  15. Pardeep Attri The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history, Then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long the nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was. The world around it will forget even faster. The struggle of man against power is the struggle of memory against forgetting. - Milan Kundera. In the month June 2012, the Government of Punjab announced that it will set up a 'cow memorial' at a factory site in Joga town, Mansa District, where recovery of cow carcasses had sparked off riots. And a day after announcing a 'cow memorial', the Badal Government further announced it will constitute a 'cow commission' to 'prevent cruelties against the holy animal'. Mr. Badal even made a visit to the factory where cow slaughter was supposedly taking place and instructed the DGP to look into the cases of cow slaughter with interest and thoroughly. Mr. Badal and his party members didn't even have the time to pay a visit to the blanket factory at Jalandhar which collapsed in April 2012 and which left more than 10 people dead and 100s badly injured. Not even a single statement came in favor of dead or injured in the one of worst factory accidents of Punjab's history. Was it because people working at that factory were poor and their lives were not as important as the lives of cows? And recently, when a madman at a Wisconsin Sikh Gurdwara killed 6 people, Mr. Badal, CM of Punjab, decided to visit Wisconsin! Isn't it strange that when in his home state, thousands Dalits are being tortured and when the crime rate against Dalits is going up day by day, he decided to visit Wisconsin to comfort Sikhs of Wisconsin? Is it because these people living abroad finance him and support his party during the election time and the poor Dalits don't have as much money to donate? So Dalit voices are left unheard. All these announcements didn't come to me as surprise as I know who are working behind all these. For centuries, Hindu fundamentalists have always taken a keen interest in destroying Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism. RSS's 'secret agenda', (published by "New Age" weekly of Communist Party, dated 18th-24th June 2000, same was also reproduced by Aajka Surekh Bharat, Nagpur, Oct. 2000, P-44,) shows the same, 'secret agenda' in which it was advocated to members that they "teach false history, misguide minority communities, compel them to chant 'Om', divide Dalit unity, keep converting Dalits, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists into Hindus etc. There were 34 such points in that 'secret agenda', points which were against humanity, mankind & full of hatred. These days, Sikh organizations, Sikh temples etc are hijacked by Hindu fundamentalists and they are running these organizations as they want. Sikh leaders can be seen at Hindu functions, celebrating Hindu festivals, visiting Hindu temples and performing Hindu pujas. How can Dalits, who protected Sikhism at each and every step, trust such Sikh leaders who attend such Hindu functions where Sikhism is being ruined? Sikhism and Buddhism are the two religions that inspire me the most. But, when I see Sikh women going to Gurudwaras and tying Rakhis to the palki of Guru Granth Sahib or when I see Buddhist women going to Buddhist religious places and tying Rakhis to banyan trees, I feel sad for those innocent people. What was originally a Hindu festival has ignorantly been accepted by Sikhs and Buddhists without questioning the credibility of the festival or without considering what the Sikh Gurus or Buddha had said or what Dr Ambedkar had said in 22 Vows. Buddha and the Sikh Gurus never accepted Hindu customs, rather than accepting they challenged many ritual practices in Brahmanism: Guru Nanak Dev Ji refused to wear a janeu and the Buddha challenged caste system. Buddha and all the Sikh Gurus had rightly said "You must not only discard the shastras, you must deny their authority & you should have courage to tell the Hindus where they are wrong". Sikhs and Buddhist heritage is so rich that in both religions, men and women were given equal rights/status from the beginning. Why would women need protection when they can defend themselves? In 1706 A.D., at "Khidrana di dhab", where the Sikhs were fighting against Mughals and when 40 Sikh men abandoned the 10th guru 'Guru Gobind Singh Ji' in the time of need, their wives took up the weapons and came to fight. Women in Sikhism and Buddhism were treated equal so shouldn't just fall prey to the fake rituals created to destroy the rich inheritance of Sikhs and Buddhists. Let me restate a few differences between Sikhism and Hinduism, differences that Sikhs and Sikh leaders are forgetting: 1. Sikhs believe in One and only One God, whereas Hindus worship a number of gods, goddesses, and deities. 2. The Hindu Trinity-- Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva-- is altogether rejected by Sikhs. 3. The worship of any carved statues, images or idols is completely forbidden in Sikhism although it is allowed in Hinduism. 4. The cow is not considered as a sacred animal by Sikhs; hence it is not worshiped at all. 5. The supremacy of the Vedas, Gita and other Hindu scriptures is not recognized or accepted in Sikhism. Sikhs have their own holy book, the Shri. Guru Granth Sahib, compiled by the fifth Guru himself. 6. Sikhism has rejected the caste system, and all men and women are reckoned equal irrespective of their caste, color or creed, does Hinduism do all this? 7. Sikh traditions, customs, and ceremonies of death and marriage are completely different from those of the Hindus. These are just a few differences; Sikhism is an entirely different religion and everyone has to keep that in mind. It's foolishness on the Sikhs' part to take part in pro-RSS activities and work according to Hindutva. How shameful and unfortunate that all these announcements – cow commissions, cow memorials – are and that all these decisions are being made by Sikh leaders; Sikh leaders who claim themselves to be sympathizers of Dalits and the poor. Can you believe that Punjab has been ranked number 1 state many times by many magazines and newspapers? It is shameful that public money is wasted on such commissions and memorials when Dalits of Punjab don't have basic necessities, when Dalit students of Punjab struggle for good education. The condition of Government schools is poor; there is no infrastructure, and no availability of teachers. Is there no need to improve Government schools because they are being used by Dalit students? A recent survey of Government of India showed that 97% of students in Government primary schools in Punjab are from Dalit and backward castes. Dalits of Punjab lack basic necessities, Dalits of Punjab are as poor as Dalits of other states, and Dalits of Punjab are as enslaved as Dalits of other states. Dalits of Punjab don't need cow commissions or cow memorials, they need good education. Give Dalits a chance to live, give Dalit students wings of dreams with good education, give Dalits a hope with good living conditions, create conditions where Dalits don't have to live in fear. Follow what the Sikh Gurus preached. It's high time for everyone to wake up against these Hindutva preachings. Sikh leaders who are becoming puppets in the hands of these Manuwadis will lead to the end of Sikhism and if such activities – cow commissions, cow memorials - continue, the day won't be far away when idols of Hindu deities will be seen at the 'Darbar Saheb' - Golden Temple. ~~~ http://roundtableind...ture&Itemid=132
  16. Dear Mr Singh, Thank you for your email, I also reply on behalf of Malcolm Harbour MEP, as I take responsibility for constituent enquiries from your area to Conservative MEPs in the West Midlands. As this is quite a specialist issue, I contacted my colleague Dr Charles Tannock MEP, the Conservative Party Foreign Affairs Spokesman in the European Parliament. Dr Tannock has been very active in calling for a review of Professor Davinderpal Singh Bhullar's sentence. He has also written a parliamentary question to the European Commission and co-authored the European Parliament Resolution on the issue which passed on the 7th July 2011. Both the EU and the UK government do subscribe to the universal abolition of the death penalty. As far as the accusations against Minister Kamal Nath are concerned, the Conservative Party opposes universal jurisdiction for domestic courts and the UK government is in the process of abolishing it for our courts as it makes it difficult for politicians to visit our country on official business without immunity guarantees. There is a role for the International Criminal Court in ending the climate of impunity for crimes against humanity but India is not a Rome statute signatory and I regard the alleged crimes of Minister Kamal Nath as for the Indian criminal justice authorities to investigate. Yours sincerely, Philip Bradbourn OBE MEP
