I remember back in the 80s and 90s there was various documentaries about the political affairs of the Sikhs in the UK and in punjab/india but nowadays there's nothing. Everything to do with religion is almost entirely focused on Islam and its notorious groups and people. In 2012 an american ex-special ops neo nazi white supremacist murdered 8 people in a gurdwara in wisconsin and no documentary was made covering it. Recently we learnt that the British thatcher government had involvement in helping (in very limited capacity as they say) the Indian government attack darbar Sahib in 1984. We learnt that Thatcher also said things back in 1980s to malign British Sikhs of southall in regards to the sectarian christian/catholic northern Ireland troubles. There should be enough material out there for some clever documentary journalists to investigate the real role of the British government in the Sikh genocide of 1984. The Sikhs of punjab in 80s/90s were in a very similar situation to that of tamil hindus of present times. The british government aided the sri lanakan buddhist senalese government to cause the tamil genocide in 2009. British govt funded Channel 4 news covered it in various news bulletins and made documentary on it. However no one has done the same for the Sikhs they haven't exposed the British and other governments role in our peoples mass murder and attack on our religious institutions. Even our own so called religious leaders and organisations that claim to represent the voice of british sikhs (like sikh federation, sikh council, etc) have strangely gone gupt and silent as a mouse not said a word since 2014. It seems like some backdoor deals are being done undercover.

Do u guys think that shaheeds and their families get enuf respect? I mean, surprisingly even some Sikhs call the karkus terrorists. The words pierce my ears like arrows and pain my heart. After all their kurbanis people have no better words than "terrorist". Must b something to do with the highly biased hindu media at the time. Today in Sikh History: 2nd November 1984 Curfew was in force throughout Delhi but only on paper. Late evening, Delhi transport corporation buses are making their way out of Delhi to surrounding states to pick up paid hooligans/mobs. NIGHT of 31st October 1984 Meetings are still taking place AND now truck loads of Iron rods and tyres are coming into Delhi from surrounding states. Trains and tankers full of kerosene oil are also making their way to OLD Delhi. Second day - 1st November 1984 Congress party MP Sajjan Kumar and Trade Union leader Lalit Maken handed out 100 rupee notes and bottles of liquor to assailants. On the morning of 1st November, Sajjan Kumar was seen holding rallies in, at least, the following Delhi neighborhoods; in Palam Colony from 6:30 AM to 7:00 AM, in Kiran Gardens from 8:00 AM to 8:30 AM, and in Sultanpuri from around 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM. In Kiran Gardens at 8:00 AM, Sajjan Kumar was seen distributing iron rods from a parked truck to a group of 120 people and instructing them to "attack Sikhs, kill them, and loot and burn their properties" The FIRST killing of a Sikh occurs in east Delhi. Armed mobs with guns lead the way. 9:00 am: Armed mobs take over the streets of Delhi and launch a massacre. Among the first targets are Gurdwaras. Sikhs seen in cars, public transport, including buses and trains are being dragged out...Sikh men are being beaten with rods and tyres are being placed around their necks...doused with kerosene oil..they are being set a light! Before they are being burnt they are pinned down and their hair and beards are being forcibly cut off. 120 Sikhs working at the Bokaro Steel Plant Jharkhand thrown alive into burning furnaces. In Agartala, Tripura 40 Sikh families who took refuge in a police station to save their lives were burnt alive in the police station. In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh 12 Sikhs were hanged from the ceiling at the railway platform. Sikh women are being gang raped, beaten...stripped naked they sit next to the burning bodies of their husbands, bothers, sons. 40-50 Sikh girls are kidnapped and taken to a Chilla village where they are raped for 7 days!! Sikh belongings are being looted, their homes and business set alight. The police refuse to help or intervene. In some cases, the Police actually assist the mobs by disarming Sikhs so they could attack them. The worst affected areas are low income colonies like Trilokpuri, Shahdara, geeta colony,Mongolpuri, Sultanpuri and Palam Colony. 100's of Gurdwara are being burnt, Shiri Guru Granth Sahib ji de saroop are being set alight...Waheguru. This scene is being replicated in others parts of India. The state media show looped video clips of Amitabh Bachchan raising slogans like "Khoon ka badla khoon" (blood for blood) and "Khoon ke chintey sikhon ke ghar tak pahunchni chahiye" (Splashes of blood should reach the doorsteps of Sikhs). Third day -2nd November 1984 A repeat of 1st November. And A curfew is announced throughout Delhi, but is not enforced. The Army deployed throughout Delhi too but ineffective because the police did not co-operate with soldiers (who are not allowed to open fire without the consent of senior police officers and executive magistrates). The killings, rapes and looting continue. Fourth day -3rd November 1984 Massacre continues. By late evening, the national Army and local police units work together to subdue the violence. After law enforcement intervention, violence is comparatively mild and sporadic. In Delhi the dead bodies of the victims were taken to All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi and Civil Hospital Mortuary Tis hazari, Delhi. It is now believed that 30,000 plus Sikhs Perished throughout India during these 4 days of State Sponsored Massacre. 100's of Sikh women listed missing / unaccounted for. 100's of young children missing / unaccounted for. I’ve been told to think of an area of interest for my dissertation in university. I would like to do it on 1984 Operation Blue Star because it’s close to my heart but I do not know what avenue to take on it and cannot think of possible questions. He said the victims’ families would see this intervention as a significant contribution to their struggle and that the entire Sikh nation would deeply appreciate Fabian Hamilton’s principled comments. Recent weeks have seen Sikhs across the world, on the 30th anniversary of the bloodshed, demand international action to punish the guilty following three shameful decades of refusal by Indian authorities to take any meaningful steps. Citing the ‘Punjab Bandh’ of 1st November 2014, led by the All India Sikh Students Federation and victim’s families, the statement reflects disappointment that the new Indian Government has failed to distance itself from the failures of the past by coming forward with proposals to address the “grotesque injustice”. Fabian Hamilton, Member of Parliament for Leeds North East (United Kingdom) Mr. Hamilton, who serves as chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for British Sikhs, has expressed horror at the impunity given to the perpetrators of the “abominable crimes” which led to the deaths of thousands of Sikhs whilst “the security forces, government and judiciary watched as mute spectators”. The statement castigates those that still refer to the pogroms as “riots” and concludes that the motivation behind that may well be that Indian politicians fear the implications of India being found in breach of their obligations under the Genocide Convention 1948. India is a signatory to that key international treaty and, under its terms, has undertaken to take effective action to both prevent genocide and to punish those responsible for it. India has “clearly breached” those legal obligations and instead shielded the perpetrators, “many of whom have since enjoyed high office”. The senior MP calls on the UK Government, as a member of the UN Security Council, to initiate steps at the UN in order to deliver an impartial judicial investigation which “is now perhaps the only realistic hope that justice can be achieved”. WJKK WJKF. Sangat ji. Im looking for sevadaars for next year march. Some points i wasnt happy with this year. 1. Our sangat sitting on the road and kirbs when listening to the speakers , eating food. I was hurt seeing our elders sitting like beggars eating roti on the kerbs. Solution:- we need people who have events companies who can help with plastic seating for a few hours. 2. I seen a few ladies in tears as theyd sprained ankles, but no first aiders about. Solution:- We need first aid sevadaars and people that can provide any foot massage for elders. (5mins). 3.I seen a few sevadaars running up and down trying to keep people off the paths as it was obstructing normal pedestrians. Solution:- we need lots more sevadaars who are fit enough to run or walk briskly to provide stewarding and security. If you have a SIA badge then thats a bonus. 4. After the march people were tired and tried finding the coaches it was bedlam. Confused people struggling to find the coaches. Solution:- we need more young sevadaars who could guide people to the coaches on the embankment by holding up plakards as guides for the sangat. Thirty years have passed since the pogroms of Sikhs in India. During the first week of November 1984, police, politicians, and government leaders organized and implemented pogroms against Sikhs throughout the country. This news footage takes us to refugee camps where survivors display raw wounds, search for missing loved ones, and share accounts of the killings. The reporter discusses how Sikhs themselves had to arrange for food provisions, and were living in squalor, bathing in gutters, and lacking medical care at the camps. “We are homeless. On the 27th of jan, the bbc asian network invited amitabh bachchan for an interview/show whatever it was. Some time in december early jan, the public could book tickets to be a part of the audience. Did anyone from here go? Bachchan has some serious allegations against him as well as a court case pending in New York regarding his role in the 84 genocide. Namely, inciting genocide on door darshan with slogons of "khoon ka badla khoon". As far as im aware, 4/5 years back sajjan kumar was refused entry into the UK because of his alleged involvement in the genocide. So why is this case any different? Is it because we made a big deal of it back then, contacted our mps etc and therefore the gov under pressure refused him entry? Should we be doing something about this? Indian Government Makes Committee to Analyze 1984 Sikh Victim Cases NEW DELHI, India (December 24, 2014)—On Tuesday the Indian government constituted a committee to look into various grievances of the 1984 Sikh pogrom victims. The statement said, “The ministry of home affairs has been receiving a large number of complaints from various individuals in the matter of 1984 ‘riots.’ The team will look into their grievances.” The committee consists of retired Supreme Court judge Justice G.P. Mathur as the chairman, and J.P. Aggarwal as joint secretary in the ministry as a member secretary. The statement also read that the committee would look over the usage of payment of enhanced indemnity of 5 lakh rupees for every person killed during the 1984 massacres as approved by the cabinet on December 10, 2014. The committee will also look further into the need for the Constitution of Special Investigation Team (SIT) for also investigating the 1984 massacre cases and submit their reports within three months.
