  1. I noticed the large number of countries that are India's allies are holding Self determination votes or supporting them over the next year. We have Russia who supported Crimea breaking away from Ukraine. Scotland from the UK votes later this year, even Venice in Italy is voting. Quebec in Canada votes from time to time. The countries mentioned are India's friends and often oppose Khalistan to please India, I think they will find it hard to do now.

  3. When the revelations of operation sundown came out recently in an Indian magazine by 1 Indian journalist it seemed to collaborate with what the amritsar massacre inquiry report conducted by the current british government had concluded when published later on. What we need to know is this a fake story a fake operation put into the Indian and worldwide press to divert the real role of the UK thatcher government in 1984? Because this operation sundown story broke before the report was published and the Sikh federation along with other Sikh organisations and Tom watson MP had asked the govt to clarify what they knew of operation sundown. So did the current british govt and indian govt collaborate and come up with a fictitious "operation sundown" out of thin air to make their role seem insignificant and only advisory. What was clear from the report that an SAS person had visited the sri harmandir sahib in feb 1984 for recconersince and was able to walk around the complex unhindered or attacked by supposed "sikh terrorists" , "sikh extremists", "sikh dissidents" as they were then labelled. We know for sure that thousands of pilgrims of all religions and walks of lives were freely coming and going out of the temple. So what need was an SAS or any other special forces person to decide to attack our most holiest shrine even for only a limited commando strike to take out alleged extremists. It is not the role of the UK govt to decide or interfer in the religious or political affairs of the Sikhs of Punjab. It is not in the remit or right of the UK government to behave in such a manor. Sant bhindranwale was an elected head of damdami taksal one of the most respected institutions of Sikhism to plan an attack or abduct him is declaration of war against the Sikh faith....So thats one point against the UK govt. Another point is why was relentless gunfire directed at sri harmandir sahib just before the SAS agent was about to leave? There are reports in articles that there was gunfire directed at people in the darbar sahib complex from outside. This shows they were trying to test the resistance and draw return fire to test the capabilities of the so called "sikh dissidents" no return fire was offered. So thats another point against the UK govt. We learnt an important document was destroyed in 2009 by the UK ministry of defence (MOD) under the watch of the then labour party government. What we need to know is under whose authoritisation was this done, and why was such an important file destroyed when no file should ever be destroyed that contains such highly sensitive information about the role of the armed forces of UK government. Was the file destroyed recently under duress from the now government and made to look like it was destroyed in 2009? What did that file and documents contain? Alot of questions need to be answered and research, investigations an analysis done by everyone. If anyone has any further information or questions to add please feel free.

  6. Relatives of the victims of the 1984 riots protest in Delhi. Contradicting Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that the Congress government did everything it could to stop the anti-Sikh riots in Delhi in 1984, the then President Giani Zail Singh’s press secretary Wednesday alleged that the riots were “orchestrated and sponsored” and claimed that the then PM Rajiv Gandhi did not even take calls from the President when he tried to get in touch with him to discuss the situation. Tarlochan Singh, who was vice-chairman of the National Commission for Minorities from 2000 to 2003, also claimed that the 2002 riots in Gujarat were “spontaneous” in contrast to the 1984 riots and argued that the police in Gujarat tried to prevent the rioters resulting in the killing of 137 people in police firing unlike in Delhi where only one person was killed in police action. Singh joined the NCM as vice-chairman and then became its chairman when the NDA was in power. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Haryana in 2004 with BJP and INLD support. “Indira Gandhi was shot dead in the morning, but the first riots started in the evening. Gyaniji collected this information himself that a meeting of Congress leaders — attended by Arun Nehru and Delhi leaders like H K L Bhagat, Jagdish Tytler and all — took place before Rajiv Gandhi arrived from Kolkata. They decided to give a slogan ‘khoon ka badla khoon’. The first riot then took place near INA market,” he told The Indian Express. “If it was spontaneous, it should have started in the morning itself. Although it was not officially announced, unofficially everyone knew in Delhi,” he said. Singh said the President got to know about arson and killing across Delhi soon after Rajiv Gandhi was sworn in as PM in the evening. “The President wanted to speak to the PM about the largescale arson and violence in Delhi. The PM did not get back to the President. All night he tried over telephone. Nobody responded. In the morning, he tried to speak to Home Minister Narasimha Rao. He was told that we are all busy in making arrangements for the funeral. He was told that the Lt Governor and the Police Commissioner are taking control. The whole of next day, neither the PM nor the Home Minister took any interest in defusing the situation or help the victims,” he alleged. Singh said it was curious that although Army was available in the cantonment here, forces were called in from Meerut. “They came by road. They were ordered not to shoot and just to march. The police in Delhi on the other hand was totally with the rioters and even killed Sikhs,” he alleged. In contrast, he said the Gujarat government officially informed a NCM fact-finding team, which visited Gujarat in March 2002, that 137 people were killed in police firing. “Our impression after going there was that Godhra incident was highlighted so much by television channels. That resulted in the spontaneous attack in the Ahmedabad city. It started early morning,” he said. http://indianexpress.com/article/india/politics/rajiv-didnt-take-calls-from-prez-after-84-riots-broke-out/
  7. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has demanded that a Special Investigation Team inquire into the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that followed the assassination of then prime minister Indira Gandhi by her Sikh bodyguards. He met Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today to discuss the matter and said he "is very positive on it. We will discuss the special investigation team formation and its terms in the next cabinet meeting." The Chief Minister's demand is set to further strain ties between his Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress, which provides external support to it. An SIT probe is part of AAP's election manifesto, but Mr Kejriwal has brought up the issue only two days after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, in a television interview, drew a distinction between the Narendra Modi government's handling of the 2002 Gujarat riots and the 1984 riots in Delhi. He said the Congress government had tried to stop the violence in Delhi, while Mr Modi had "abetted it" in Gujarat. The BJP's Arun Jaitley has countered Mr Gandhi by saying, "Rahul Gandhi is ill-informed. In 1984, police hardly fired at the rioters, it was in collusion with the government. In Gujarat, 300 rioters died in police firing. Around 65,000 rioters were arrested in Gujarat... more than 4,000 cases have been charge-sheeted and hundreds have been convicted." The BJP too met Mr Jung today and has, along with its political partner the Shiromani Akali Dal, demanded an SIT probe in the riots 30 years ago. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, "Our party is ready for any logical or judicial inquiry into the riots." Senior Congress leaders like Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar are facing cases in courts for allegedly instigating rioters after Mrs Gandhi's assassination on October 31, 1984, but the party has never taken action against them. http://www.ndtv.com/article/india/arvind-kejriwal-demands-special-investigation-team-probe-into-1984-anti-sikh-riots-476795?pfrom=home-lateststories

  10. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh Ji This subject is being separated from the main topic "** Tom Watson Uk Member Of Parliament Reveals Biggest Secret: Britain Involved In 1984 Army Attack On Darbar Sahib" to specifically deal with false descriptions of Sikhs and the subversive propaganda against Sikhs. In a BBC news article today; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-25723875 The BBC have stated; "The storming of the Golden Temple was aimed at flushing out Sikh separatists." "The Sikh separatists demanded an independent homeland - called Khalistan - in Punjab." "1982: Armed Sikh militants, led by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, take up residence in the Golden Temple complex" In 1984 the BBC were labelling Sikhs as "extremists". The usage behind such propaganda against Sikhs has justified the Sikh holocaust and genocide. We encourage all people to complain against false media descriptions against Sikhs, starting with the BBC. This will only take a few minutes and can be done here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/complain-online/ and click on "Make a complaint" Have you read our page 'What happens to your complaint'? 12. Jaspreet Singh’s novel Helium confronts memories of the 1984 pogrom against the Sikhs. http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/26/jaspreet-singhs-harrowing-novel-of-genocide-in-the-wake-of-indira-gandhis-assassination-4201439/ In November 1984, after Indira Gandhi’s assassination, politicians of India’s Congress party directed mobs to burn alive as many Sikhs as possible. Members of parliament and cabinet ministers distributed kerosene oil and white phosphorous. Witnesses talked about the use of rubber tyres to trap the target, create thick clouds of toxins and facilitate combustion. I was a teenager in Delhi. A mob passed our block, attacking Sikhs on the street. We hid in a neighbour’s house. The few hours we were there fill a huge space in my mind. I’ve not been able to articulate those few hours, the burned remains of the books and buildings I saw later and the tiny particles of ash floating in the air. For years I tried hard to forget those moments. Raj, the narrator of Helium, faces a huge predicament. His own father, a senior police officer, facilitated the violence in November 1984. The police were under direct control of the government. Under the watchful eyes of the cops, a mob directed by senior Congress party leaders burned alive Raj’s beloved professor. Later, Raj asks a question, which may be significant to younger generations in India: How do sons and daughters deal with the crimes of their fathers? I wrote my first story, Arjun, in 2000. I had flown to San Francisco for a conference but skipped most of it and finished the first draft in 14 straight hours. Arjun is told from the point of view of a Sikh boy travelling with his mother and grandfather on the day of Indira Gandhi’s assassination. My plan was to allow Arjun to grow into a novel but when I picked it up, I felt a narrative crisis. Most known models were inadequate to narrate November 1984. I had to figure out a new way to write. Helium was a resolution of a creative crisis. In 2008, after finishing my first novel, I was invited to Delhi to work with HIV-positive orphans. They wanted ghost stories. After storytelling, I took long walks through the city and it was then the ghosts of 1984 returned. As I processed those Delhi experiences, walking with the ghosts, I started writing. Helium has a hybrid form to better access the pogroms of November 1984 and the years that followed. It let me reveal traces of the horrific. To do it otherwise – as in a human rights’ report – is a paralysing affair and affects our capacity as humans to engage fully with the crime of crimes. Helium’s hybrid form allowed me to pose questions such as: ‘What happened?’ and ‘What could have happened?’ It also allowed me to create distance. Despite all this, it was not easy to write. Helium involved a lot of research and is informed by survivor and relief-worker testimonials and is based on oral histories and private archives. These are stories of complicated grief and collective trauma. Unfinished mourning. Not just memory but post-memory and the transmission of trauma. It was not easy. Several times I tried to abandon the project. Helium (Publisher:Bloomsbury) is out now by Jaspreet Singh Books
  13. The Indian and Canadian PM's are not going to Sri Lanka for the Commonwealth Summit in support of Tamil human rights. The British and Australian PM's have asked for an independent enquiry into the killings. Can the Sikhs learn from the Tamils and get support now that human rights are of interest to countries? Manmohan Singh has no concern for the Sikhs but takes major action for the Tamils. http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/editorials/summit-fever-the-commonwealth-should-not-be-conferring-legitimacy-on-a-sri-lankan-regime-with-blood-on-its-hands-8933415.html Summit fever: The Commonwealth should not be conferring legitimacy on a Sri Lankan regime with blood on its hands The question marks over Sri Lankas human rights record are not confined to the war-torn past The Indian Prime Ministers last-minute decision not to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Colombo this weekend is largely due to domestic politics. With an election next year, Manmohan Singh does not want to upset Indias 72 million Tamils, many of whom are highly sensitive about the treatment of their ethnic cousins in Sri Lankas bloody civil war. Mr Singhs narrow political motivations do not detract from the issue itself, however. Indeed, he is now the second leader to boycott the summit. Canadas Stephen Harper is so incensed at the Colombo governments continued refusal to investigate alleged war crimes committed during the conflict that he is not only not attending himself, his government is also reviewing its financial contributions to the Commonwealth. There are very real and painful questions to be answered about the civil war. According to UN estimates, as many as 40,000 civilians may have died in the final months of the conflict, in 2009, as the government of Mahinda Rajapaksa finally quashed the 26-year Tamil insurgency. A harrowing Channel 4 documentary No Fire Zone: The Killing Fields of Sri Lanka screened earlier this month, was just the latest evidence of alleged war crimes. The question marks over Sri Lankas human rights record are not confined to the war-torn past. Disturbing reports of repression and abuse have continued to emerge ever since. Harassment, intimidation and unexplained disappearances among political opponents, journalists, activists and even members of the judiciary are alarmingly frequent. Police torture is also rampant, says Amnesty International, with 86 formal complaints in the first three months of this year alone, and at least five deaths in custody in 2012. Nor are such issues hidden from world attention. No less a figure than Archbishop Desmond Tutu has spoken several times about the need for an official investigation into alleged atrocities committed during the war. And in August this year, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights ended a seven-day visit to the island with an outspoken warning. The war may have ended, Navi Pillay concluded, but in the meantime democracy has been undermined and the rule of law eroded. Against such a background, the choice of Colombo as the venue for the Heads of Government meeting conferring an unearned legitimacy on Mr Rajapaksas government was grossly ill-judged. That David Cameron agreed to attend is also regrettable. The claims of human rights abuses, past and present, are too serious to be waved aside; Britain should have joined Canada in taking a principled stand. But with the summit going ahead, and our Prime Minister to be there, the best must be made of it. Following the Channel 4 footage, Mr Cameron has promised to tell the President that if Sri Lanka does not launch an independent investigation into alleged war crimes then the international community will. That is not enough. What of the worsening repression? If even half the allegations against Sri Lanka are true, it is a stain on the conscience of the Commonwealth. The Colombo meeting must be used to impress upon Mr Rajapaksa that his governments conduct is not acceptable.

  17. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-24012420 Indian army soldiers have been deployed in Muzaffarnagar in northern Uttar Pradesh state after 28 people were killed in religious clashes. Several villages are under curfew after violence between Hindus and Muslims. Officials say the death toll is likely to rise as more than 50 people were injured in the rioting. The clashes were sparked by the killing of three men after they protested against the alleged harassment of a local woman. Later the circulation of a fake video showing two men being lynched led to more violence, which spread to neighbouring villages in the district. Among those killed in the weekend clashes was a TV journalist. A total of 800 troops have been deployed in the area to bring the situation under control and more than 100 people have been arrested on charges of inciting violence. "A curfew has been imposed in three riot-hit areas of Muzaffarnagar. The situation is still very tense, but under control,'' senior Uttar Pradesh official RM Srivastava told the Associated Press news agency. The clashes broke out on Saturday after Hindu farmers held a meeting to protest against the killing of three men who had spoken out against the alleged harassment of a local woman. Reports say a few participants made provocative speeches at the meeting. Some of the farmers were attacked when they were returning home after the meeting, senior police official Arun Kumar said. "The attackers seemed well planned. Some were armed with rifles and sharp-edged weapons," Mr Kumar said. Within hours clashes broke out in neighbouring villages, officials said. Uttar Pradesh experienced some of the worst religious clashes in India after a Hindu mob razed the 16th Century Babri Mosque in the holy city of Ayodhya in 1992. This prompted nationwide rioting between Hindus and Muslims in which more than 2,000 people died. India has seen a rise in religious violence this year with 451 incidents reported so far compared to 410 for all of 2012, a federal minister has said.

He is now at risk of imminent execution. The mercy petitions of two other men were also rejected by the President in August, and reports suggest they could be executed on 22 August. Devender Pal Singh Bhullar was sentenced to death in August 2001 for his involvement in a bomb attack in New Delhi in 1993 that killed nine people. He was arrested under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA), a law that contained provisions incompatible with international fair trial standards, and had no access to a lawyer during his initial detention and trial. He was found guilty on the basis of a confession to the police which he later retracted, claiming it was made under police pressure. In March 2002, the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence, though one of the three judges had found him not guilty, saying there was no evidence to convict him. The President rejected Devender Pal Singh Bhullar's mercy petition in May 2011, eight years after the request was filed. This decision was challenged before the Supreme Court, including on grounds of an inordinate delay in the consideration of his mercy petition. The Supreme Court rejected his plea on 12 April, in a judgement that ignored claims he had been subjected to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. A review petition of this judgment was dismissed on 14 August 2013. Devender Pal Singh Bhullar has been receiving treatment at a psychiatric facility, and a medical board has reportedly stated that he is suffering from severe depression and shows symptoms of psychosis and suicidal tendencies. International standards on the use of the death penalty prohibit the use of capital punishment against people with mental disability. Since taking office, President Pranab Mukherjee has rejected mercy petitions of at least 19 people. In August, he rejected the mercy petitions of Shivu and Jadeswamy, who were sentenced to death in July 2005 for the rape and murder of a woman in 2001. Their executions have been reportedly scheduled for 22 August. On 21 August, the Supreme Court will hear petitions from Shivu and Jadeswamy seeking commutation of their sentences. In the past, some mercy petition decisions have been challenged before the higher judiciary on grounds of undue delay by the executive in the consideration of such petitions. However, the decision to hear such a challenge is left to the discretion of the higher judiciary. In April 2012, the Supreme Court, while upholding Devender Pal Singh Bhullars death sentence, stated that delay cannot be invoked in cases where a person is convicted for an offence under TADA or similar statutes. The court decided not to commute the death sentence based on the enormity of the crime. Since assuming office in 2012, President Pranab Mukherjee has rejected mercy petitions of at least 19 people - Ajmal Kasab, Saibanna, Afzal Guru, Gnanprakasham, Simon, Meesekar Madaiah, Bilavendran, Suresh, Ramji, Gurmeet Singh, Sonia Choudhary, Sanjeev Choudhary, Jafar Ali, Dharam Pal, Praveen Kumar, B A Umesh, Maganlal Barela, Shivu and Jadeswamy . India has executed two of these individuals: Ajmal Kasab on 21 November 2012 and Afzal Guru on 9 February 2013. These two executions were considered out of turn and were not announced to the public until they had been carried out. A government minister stated that no prior announcement was made in Ajmal Kasabs case to avoid intervention from human rights activists. In Afzal Gurus case, the family only received notification of the execution after it had been carried out, and the body was not returned to them for burial. Prior to these, the last execution in India had been that of Dhananjoy Chatterjee in August 2004. Of the remaining cases, Santhan, Murugan, Perarivalan, Gnanaprakasam, Simon, Madaiah and Bilavendran were originally convicted by a TADA court. On 22 October, the Supreme Court will begin hearing the cases of at least 17 individuals who are seeking commutation of their death sentences after presidential rejection of their mercy plea. Indian authorities used to make information about the rejection of mercy petitions and dates of execution available to the public before any executions. However they have stopped this practice since 2012, making it difficult to know which mercy petitions are being considered, when decisions are be made, and whether these decisions would be public. In resolution 2005/59 the UN Commission on Human Rights called upon all states that still maintain the death penalty to make available to the public information with regard to the imposition of the death penalty and to any scheduled execution. Indias resumption of executions has set the country against regional and global trends towards abolition of the death penalty As of today, 140 countries are abolitionist in law or in practice. Out of 41 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, 17 have abolished the death penalty for all crimes, 10 are abolitionist in practice and one Fiji uses the death penalty only for exceptional military crimes. Over the past 10 years, four Asia-Pacific countries abolished the death penalty for all crimes: Bhutan and Samoa in 2004, the Philippines in 2006 and the Cook Islands in 2007. UN bodies and mechanisms have repeatedly called upon member states to establish a moratorium on executions with a view to abolishing the death penalty, including through the adoption of four UN General Assembly resolutions in December 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2012. India voted against all four resolutions Amnesty International opposes the death penalty in all cases as a violation of the right to life and the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment, regardless of the nature of the crime; guilt, innocence or other characteristics of the individual; or the method used by the state to carry out the execution.
